I prefer the heavier end of modern stall; I suppose you could call my style very bulky offense, using walls. (Basically, I spend all my time on the defensive stalling, but normally kill opponents with combat damage rather than entry hazards.) I find playing stall rather peaceful (I'm one of the world's few people who actually enjoys PP stalls), and I also enjoy being on the defensive (i.e. responding to my opponent, rather than acting myself). I also think building stall teams is more fun than building offence teams; you spend ages trying to eke out every small advantage in the movesets to make sure you can handle as many threats as possible.

Quick Stall / Semi-stall is amazing!

Supporting sweepers with walls that can wear down counters is such a dependable strategy, and you have the ability to take out difficult threats just by outspeeding or being aggressive, something that full stall rarely can do. Full stall is far too passive for some of the threats in this metagame.

I just think that Semi-stall is to pokemon like a scalpel is to surgery. It is precise, and dependable. You kill and wall exactly what stops your sweepers and remove specific threats until you sweep. It is much better than the chainsaw that is Heavy Offense, which can often be a hit or miss style.

I use Bulky Offence, that with most of my sweepers being bulky. I find that its cool when the opponent expects they'd get the OHKO but just then you get back at them. Suits my style of play.

anyone who votes, prepared to be metagamed in st6. i'm watching you

i like all teams except for hyper offense, because hyper offense doesn't win consistently. also stop saying semi-stall, the word is balanced

My style changes every so often, so I jump around with the different team types. I've recently been trying heavy stall and not doing so well, though, so I think I may stick with a more balanced team in the future.

Hyper offense doesn't win consistently, stall/semi-stall are too slow, and balance's balancing act is too difficult for me to win consistently. I stick with bulky offense, so that my team doesn't rely entirely on each other and I can attack most of the time.

From what I've worked with, Semi-Stall is great. However I go with all different play styles to get a taste of everything.

Please elaborate. I want to know what you mean, by "metagamed in st6"

He meant that players in the sixth Smogon Tournament would be looking at the poll to see which teams their opponents prefer; thus, building a team that excels against their opponent's preferred team archetype.

For those of you wondering what quick stall is, it's an archetype of a team that uses fast walls and supporters such as Jumpluff and Mewtwo for stalling tactics. Most of the time, you would hear this term only heard in Ubers.

Also, I would like if people were to give a better explanation for their team preference; a sentence or two would rarely suffice.

I've been trying a heavy offense (or at least a team with 6 sweepers lol) and it actually works pretty good. All of my pokemons moveset are geard towards super effective coverage or >90 powered STABs (no draco meteor and such so they won't lose power) and the team packs quite a lot of surprises as I put in a lot of unusual stuff...

Right now, semi stall. The metagame is just structured in such a way that lets it strive.

It's a shame though really, semistall isn't really my natural play style. I don't handle my resources well enough for that. My natural play style is bulky offence.

Sorry to be picky and off-topic, but I think you mean thrive, not strive. Striving is trying to reach a goal. Thriving is being abundant.

OT: yeah, semi seems a bit wishy-washy to me. That might just be my extremism speaking: I accept nothing between HO and Obi as a TRUE MAN'S strategy.

Bulky offence is my preference. I love all the switching and the whole using resists and prediction to cause more damage than I take.

Bulky offence has the best selection of Pokemon imo. Tyranitar, Metagross and Latias are among the strongest of pokemon.

Balance is the other style I play but I still use a more offensive balance team.

I use everything except for Heavy offense, as it gets boring after awhile and usually i can't enjoy playing with them.

What is the difference between a bulky and a balanced team? as far as I can see very little. Also anyone who has used Obi's Stall team recently will not that it is severely unprepared for the Platinum metagame multiple common threats will absolutely destroy it. It is particularly to any pokemon with Taunt such as Gliscor, Heatran and Modern Mix Mence.

In this metagame Balanced / Bulky Offense seems to be the best way to go. Absorbing the uber offensive pokemon's hits then boosting up with the opponent weakened it seems to be successful and reliable. Whereas offense is far too lead match up dependent and stall gives the opponent way too much time to set up or blow apart your walls as you put no pressure back on them and a well made team will put irrevocable damage on you in return.

I play a mixture of HO and bulky offense. It's difficult to classify which one I actually am.

Offense is my preferred style of play as it is far more quick paced and it requires a lot of long term planning. Plus it gives me a chance to use some of my favorite Pokemon. :D

I'm really fan of Semi-stall, because it's not as boring as traditional, and it's fun to dance around your opponent until you go for a kill.
