Ten years...

Still here.... playing the same old shit.... 10 years later.

Where has the time gone?

lolwut

Probably if i would have started back then i would have bored off it by now
In only started since the release of D/P

I got my Yellow version back in 2003. I got Blue a year later. I was kinda late getting into these games.

Wrong board by the way.

So what will we do when there's say, 8 generations of Pokemon? Have fun stabilizing the OU metagame!

my son would probably be raping at pokemon like his dad

I'm pretty sure they will cap it at 5th or 6th gen >.>

look at mario, I doubt Nintendo would stop a game that makes them millions of dollars...

As long as Nintendo/Gamefreak can squeeze out enough creativity to make X amount of new Pokemon per gen they will continue to release new Pokemon games.

Don't forget that they can already create a handful of new Pokemon just by making evolutions for the Pokemon that stop after one evolution, or don't evolve at all.

My first game boy and blue version got stolen when I was in 4th grade. I didn't start playing gold till I was a sophomore in Highschool and have been an addict since.

About ten years ago, there was this worldwide phenominon about fictional animals that fight each other in a fantasy-like setting, and a lot of people started playing it, and the same people were unable to put their Gameboys down. I was one of those people. Also included was a trading card game and a TV show (both of which are still running). Although its popularity isn't what it used to be (the fanbase is more loyal, on the other hand), the franchise is still going strong.... cards, TV show and all that other boring stuff, but that goes especially for the main series of games, which actually gained a popularity boost.

A year back, Diamond and Pearl decided to show their faces in the 'States (and they actually sold more copies than any of the previous games!), and now that people can connect to each other on Wi-Fi, Pokemon is better than ever now.

I would have stopped playing it if the feature to play online was absent, since I had nothing to do after I beat the game (no Action Replay means no having it easy at the Battle Tower, which was poinless without the Point Exchange thingy), but thanks to that, I'm still a fan of the series, even after almost a decade of playing what was essentially the same game... a game that I'm not extremely good at when playing against other people, at that.
Despite that, Pokemon is still fun to play, and in my head, it transformed from a fun game that challenged me to find and catch every Pokemon in the game to a slightly more frustrating strategy game where good movesets, stats, IVs, and EVs mean pretty much everything.

Sorry I made this post so drawn out... I just felt like writing something.

I am so glad I was born when I was and was able to live through the Pokemon phenomenon as part of the target audience. Although I guess the 80s kids all had their own little craziness that they're happy they were a part of. Pokemon was a huge part of my childhood =) Good times.

I'm pretty sure they will cap it at 5th or 6th gen >.>
Yeah, Nintendo hates money. I can't see them doing another Pokemon ever again. I mean, ugh, that'd make what? Billions?

I think I'll stop playing pokemon when Gamefreak stops making it. I still can't stop enjoying playing Pokemon, and as long as it is fun I will play.
