Pet Mod TeraForming - Playtesting Phase - Slates Completed

:sv/armarouge:
Pokémon: Armarouge
Tera Type: Fighting
Type of Tera Form: Fire | Psychic
Ability: Weak Armor
Stats: 85 HP, 60 Atk, 100 Def, 145 SpA, 90 SpD, 95 Spe
New Moves: Recover
Removed Moves:
Competitive Overview:
- Consistent Psychic Terrain Abuser: With so many Dark Pokémon in the metagame and limited Terastallization, "Psy Spam" is kind of mediocre and inconsistent. Enter Armarouge who can use its Tera type to tank and punish physical hits from Dark Pokémon, especially on the physical side. Armarouge is strong enough to take out with Focus Blast bulky Pokémon like Roaring Moon. Against Ting-Lu, it's a 2HKO.
-
Revenge Cleaner: If you are not into the "Psy Spam" archetype, Armarouge can function on its own, using its Tera typing and offensive pressure to make the opponent wary of it, especially between Calm Mind, Weak Armor or Recover. Calm Mind + Weak Armor synergize with Stored Power while Recover lets Armarouge be more consistent as it has more opportunities to switch in. Speaking of switch-in, it resists Stealth Rock and U-turn, which really underlines the defensive utility Armarouge can reap from Tera Fighting. Armarouge is literally the armour Pokémon, so that would really emphasize its design.

Beast Feast* - This Pokemon heals 12.5% of its max HP at the end of the turn, then transforms into Morpeko-Hangry-Tera. Aura Wheel is Electric-type.
Hunger Strike* - This Pokémon's attacks do 1.3x damage, and it loses 1/10 its max HP and transforms into Morpeko-Tera after the attack. Aura Wheel is Dark-type.
Stats (both): 63 (+5) / 125 (+30) / 58 / 70 / 58 / 112 (+15)
New Moves: Toxic
Removed Moves: N/A
Competitive Overview: Morpeko but you're still clicking Protect every other turn. Both Morpeko forms have pretty low stats, but make up for that with the power of Tera Dark-boosted STAB and, more importantly, two extremely good abilities that it constantly switches between. You'll likely want to Tera while in Hangry form first, where you get an insanely strong Tera Dark Aura Wheel with a Life Orb boost, at the cost of some of your HP. Then, you transform into base form and get that HP right back after a turn of clicking Protect, or clicking the now Electric Aura Wheel again to punish the opponent trying to take advantage of you clicking Protect. Then you switch back and the cycle continues. Toxic synergizes well with Morpeko spamming Toxic and even Substitute. Morpeko does have some notable weaknesses, namely its insane frailty, requiring a free switch to come in and needing to tread very carefully lest you make one mistake and die instantly, plus its good Speed tier still getting it revenge killed by Booster Speed Iron Valiant even after 1 Aura Wheel, making Morpeko a very high risk but high reward mon. Oh, and you can use this as a very aggressive Spinner on offensive teams but again you have to be extremely careful.

Stats: 95 / 60 / 80 (+20) / 111 (+10) / 80 (+20) / 105
New Moves: Defog, Work Up, Healing Wish
Removed Moves: Calm Mind, Stored Power
Competitive Overview: Two things I like a lot, Tinted Lens and PsySpam. This Espathra combines both of those things while having a hint of Mega Sharpedo in it. Basically, you can trade 1 turn of Psychic Terrain to get a Speed Boost and then you Tera and try to sweep with Expanding Forces that are hard to defend against. Outside of PsySpam, you have Tinted Lens + Tera-boosted Lumina Crash to absolutely bully fat stuff with. Held back by a near complete inability to deal meaningful damage to Dark-types and being weak into offense due to its mid Speed tier, both with and without +1 Speed.

New Moves: Focus Blast
Removed Moves: N/A
Competitive Overview: Very simple big stat pivot, Levitate + Rock-resistant typing makes Articuno very sturdy against hazards, letting it come in and out of the game many times thanks to its bulk and pretty decent defensive typing. Once in, Fighting/Flying or Psychic coverage hits much of the metagame and solid 140 SpA makes it easy to cleave through frailer stuff, all on top of a decent Speed tier to revenge kill stuff like Ogerpon.

Voting time!

Voting rules can be found below and in the OP:
Voting Phase (2 Days)
After the submission phase is over, voting will begin. This mod will be using the same voting system as Megas Revisited, where you can vote for as many submissions as you want, with each submission getting a certain number of points based on how you ranked it. An example can be seen below.
For a slate with the Tera Types Normal, Fighting, and Flying, for example, a ballot would look like this:
Normal: Pokemon 1, Pokemon 2, Pokemon 3
Fighting: Pokemon 4, Pokemon 5, Pokemon 6
Bug: Pokemon 7, Pokemon 8, Pokemon 9

With this ballot, Submission 1 for Tera Normal would get 3 points, Submission 2 would get 2, and Submission 3 would get 1. The same goes for Submissions 4, 5, and 6 in the Fighting category and Submissions 7, 8, and 9 in the Bug category, with them getting 3, 2, and 1 point respectively.

You can add as many submissions are you'd like after your third vote, with each one getting 1 point.
Normal: Pokemon 1, Pokemon 2, Pokemon 3
Fighting: Pokemon 4, Pokemon 5, Pokemon 6
Bug: Pokemon 7, Pokemon 8, Pokemon 9, Pokemon 10, Pokemon 11
So, in this ballot, Submissions 10 and 11 would also get 1 point in the Bug category.

You can vote for your own submission, but it can't be in first place or your only vote in that category. Be sure to mark your self-vote by putting (SV) after it.
Normal: Pokemon 12 (SV), Pokemon 2, Pokemon 3
Fighting: Pokemon 4, Pokemon 5, Pokemon 6
Bug: Pokemon 7, Pokemon 8, Pokemon 9, Pokemon 10, Pokemon 11
This wouldn't be a legal ballot as the self-vote is in first place in the Normal category

Normal: Pokemon 12 (SV)
Fighting: Pokemon 4, Pokemon 5, Pokemon 6
Bug: Pokemon 7, Pokemon 8, Pokemon 9, Pokemon 10, Pokemon 11
This also wouldn't be a legal ballot as the self-vote is the only vote in the Normal category

Normal: Pokemon 2, Pokemon 12 (SV)
Fighting: Pokemon 4, Pokemon 12 (SV), Pokemon 6
Bug: Pokemon 7, Pokemon 8, Pokemon 12 (SV), Pokemon 10, Pokemon 11
This is a legal ballot because none of the self-votes are in first place or the only vote in a category.

If you vote for only 2 submissions in a category, the first place submission gets 2 points and the second place submission gets 1 point. If you vote for just one, then that submission gets 1 point.
Normal: Pokemon 1 (1 point)
Fighting: Pokemon 4 (2 points), Pokemon 5 (1 point)
Bug: Pokemon 7 (3 points), Pokemon 8 (2 points), Pokemon 9 (1 point), Pokemon 10 (1 point), Pokemon 11 (1 point)
The submission with the most points in a category will be added to the mod.
If multiple people the same Pokemon in the same category, please specify which submission you're voting for.
If the same Pokemon is submitted in multiple categories and ends up in first place in both, it will only win in the category where it received more points.

not doing the joke a third time in a row, nothing's vetoed, lol

Voting will end in 48 hours. Good luck!
If your sub isn't here and it wasn't vetoed, then please let me know!

Ability: Reactor Drive
User's Defense stat increases whenever a status move is used. Under Electric Terrain, using a status move also increases the user's highest stat by a stage.
Stats:
HP: 110 (+20)
Atk: 120
Def: 110 (+30)
SpAtk: 68
SpDef: 108
Spe: 124

New Moves: Stored Power
Removed Moves: Swords Dance
Explanation: This definitely recontextualizes Iron Boulder but Iron Boulder is boring as fuck so here's a stallbreaker variant that blends its high offensive stats with a mighty defensive profile (which, aside from what I gave it, also includes Taunt naturally) to become a dynamic win condition and powerful reactive tool into Pokemon like Kingambit and Dragapult. Its highly limited status movepool was also considered here and is an intentional Achilles heel.

Bulk Up + Body Press spammer, nothing super bulky but enough to be a pain if played right. Fire type immunity isn’t super relevant but the +2 in defense is always really nice, and fairy/fighting gives it both a rocks resistance and a really nice offensive pairing. Already comes with Psychic Fangs for coverage against poison types, as well as Crunch for Gholdengo.

Surprisingly, it actually has Psychic fangs so it doesn't need anything for Teraform Stab, and Strong Jaw really helps with it's general goal to claw and bite it's way through walls. Liquidation makes it not thunk too badly into grounds if not teraformed, and Superpower is just something it never needed to lose. Volt Tackle is a major upgrade from wild charge that it appreciates on non-tera sets, and Slack Off is there, I guess. Catnaps are cool.

Oh hey it’s everyones favorite Shell Smash + SP sweeper. Hard walled by darks, absolutely loathes sucker punch in specific. Lack of an item leaves SS sets incredibly frail and able to be possibly revenged by many a dark type, especially Kingambit since it can’t try for a burn anymore. Decided not to give this thing a full +50 for multiple reasons (namely, didn’t want it to be too physically bulky, overall bulky, too fast, or have to give it physical/mixed potential)
Not the most creative submission all things considered, just the first idea I had.

Ability: Psychotic Drive
User's damage-dealing Psychic Type moves will repeat two turns later (like Future Sight) at half BP. When under Electric Terrain, using a Psychic-type move (regardless of it being offensive or being an instance of a repeated attack) will boost the user's highest stat by a stage.

Like always, we'll have our 24 hour discussion phase before starting next slate, so see you tomorrow night!

:clodsire: - Not many thoughts, considering it’s mine, but i will say two things:
A) PalpitoadChamps Okidogi was fire too ngl
B) Poison/Dark couldve been really funny to give it pre-tera

:iron leaves: AAA if it was real:
Jokes aside ‘beast boost but better’ (under electric terrain) is quite strong and it does frighten me a little. It’s quite fast, and hits like a truck, and the two other viable terrains - Grassy and Psychic - aren’t as much of a nerf as you’d think, considering iron leaves’ typing. Thankfully held back by being item locked, as well as needing to tera for the stat buffs. Being able to tera out of a bug weakness is rad as hell, too

:flygon: - I can’t wait to have ‘punk rock if it was specs instead of life orb’ boosted boombursts be thrown around :3
Ok but actually, boomburst vs psychic noise is a tough call. On the one hand, psychic noise can hit bulky mons to prevent healing and help break through easier, but on the other hand:
252 SpA Sharpness (Shattering Scream) Flygon Slash (Boomburst, 140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Metagross: 108-127 (29.7 - 34.9%) -- 16.6% chance to 3HKO
I do not think running both is viable, however.
Even if im mistaken, and it ends up being only a 1.3x boost, thats still quite powerful as a wall/stallbreaker, and im glad to see a tera that leans full into doing chunks of damage Edit: It’s Coded as 1.5! yeah, this thing is gonna do huge numbers.

Funny ending note: the only thing that truly “hard walls” flygon would seem to be soundproof bastiodon. So that’s funny. Thankfully soft checks should be more than enough, be it hazards, a stray ice shard (sucker punch after tera), or just being blissey (unless it’s running superpower, and even then tera fairy is baller)

New slate time, but quick announcement first, I've provided some sample sets for every TeraForm in one of the posts I reserved, should help you with early teambuilding, which may be op upmost interest to you very soon! (more on that later)

Now, time for Slate 5!

slate four

:raging bolt::kyurem::landorus-therian:
- Slate 5: Tera Electric, Ice, & Ground -
Another type slate here, with three of the best offensive typings in the game! While probably not the first type you'd think of when thinking of the best offensive Teras in the game, Tera Electric has seen some good usage on stuff like Serperior and especially Dragon Dance Kyurem as an amazing coverage option, plus Electric's distinction of only having one weakness. Tera Ice is in a similar position, seeing some surprising use on the likes of Meowscarada, Great Tusk, and Landorus-Therian. The least used of these is probably Tera Ground (though it's still been great on the likes of Kyurem and Comfey), but in a meta where not everything can Tera, the great offensive and defensive profile of the Ground-typing should make it very desirable for a variety of Pokemon!

As stated in the OP, for Tera Type slates, you are allowed to submit any 1 Pokemon per Tera Type slated, as long as the Tera Type of the TeraForm you give it matches a slated Tera Type, so Electric, Ice, or Ground in this case.

Be sure to join the Discord to get live feedback on your submissions

Submissions will be open until Saturday, January 25th (Veto Phase on Friday)

Meet the new king of hazard removal. Spikes weakness due to the tera shard item leaves this thing A little frailer than you’d hope, but it now gets rapid spin for any non-tera sets out there. Not tera ice as that’d just be silly for a spin mon.

Notably can spin on ghold, though really doesnt enjoy the matchup, with flash cannon/make it rain and all.

Look, I love this silly little dinosaur, but he is not good. He’s quite bad in fact, but no because of stats. Typing (and movepool) alone ruin this mon’s chances of viability, and it sucks. So, I turned him into a magnet :magnemite:
Regenerator + Volt Switch makes this guy a tough nut to crack, but ground types should have a jolly good time switching in fairly unpunished. Good defensive glue that has higher bulk and attack than pex but can’t run HDB or Leftovers, and doesn’t have nearly the same disruptive kit as pex does.
Iron Defense + Body Press can also be used to help bastiodon be more threatening throughout the match, as opposed to just sitting there and being super passive. Lack of recover also encourages more offensive play than other walls

Everything comes with a Price.
If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. So when tera ice regieleki was just unleashed onto competitive, many were (rightfully) quite annoyed with it. So, to try and balance it, while retaining tera ice leki’s identity: I plunged it’s speed INTO THE GROUND. Still has a usable speed tier - but that’s just about it; “Usable”. 110 nowadays just isn’t that special.

Still outsped by many a scarfer, booster energy user, or rapid spinner, leki really appreciates other speed control on it’s side, though rapid spin can help boost your own speed if needed.

Espeed is still annoying but nothing a good steel or ghost type can’t deal with.
lack of an item also helps keep ice-type leki in check, as if you can force it out even just once, it now has to contest with hazards, on top of needing to find a safe way in.

Side Note: I just wanted an excuse for a Tera’s stats to be a lower BST than the base form lmfao

Adjusted for vetoes! Sad to remove rapid spin but oh well.

Very fat physwall, that is also able to dish out good damage due to a good offensive type combo, Aroma Veil is specifically for Oger-W tbh, as i didnt wanna give this an ability that may be too overbearing, considering its new, better type, as well as slightly better stats, while also giving it one that is remotely useful, and dealing with Oger-W seems like an interesting niche. Fastest mon in the tier, has a great offensive STAB combo, as well as good mixed stats. It is able to deal good damage, but due to its Ice-type, low defenses, and lack of Heavy-Duty Boots, it has a really hard time switching in and out, so when it ends up low on health, from hazard damage, opposing attacks, or Refrigerate Double-Edge recoil, it can use Refrigerate Explosion.

Viable Neutralizing Gas user, lack of Heavy-Duty Boots hurts it before tera'ing, but after tera it becomes extremely bulky, both physically and specially, while dealing heavy damage due to its boosted SpAtk as well as good offensive type combination. Many Pokemon that rely on their ability are annoyed by Neutralizing Gas shutting it off, while they are also threatened by its STABs too.

Competitive Overview:
- Hit and Run Attacker: Weavile can use Tera Electric to better switch into Electric and Steel Pokémon, notably Raging Bolt, Zapdos, Tornadus, Gholdengo, and Scizor. This also comes with the advantage of being immune to Paralysis from Static or Thunder Wave. Moreover, Weavile can use Tera Electric to pressure Water Pokémon like Toxapex, Samurott-Hisui or Alomomola. Thanks to its ability, Weavile makes for a prime lead Pokémon, scaring bulky hazard setters like Ting-Lu, Araquanid or Asault Vest Samurott-Hisui and fast scout Pokémon like Choice Scarf Meowscarada or Dragapult. So, in a way, it can discourage the opponent from setting hazards and use this opportunity to set-up. In another scenario, it can revenge-kill with Ice Shard.

If you think you can't prevent your opponent from setting hazards and if you think they're about to do it, Weavile-Tera could always switch-in to punish them for doing so. This expands on Weavile's role as a high risk high reward Pokémon. Fwiw, the ability kind of mirrors Pursuit Weavile as you try to force the opponent into an awkward position, and it makes up for Pursuit being dexited. That said, Weavile-Tera should pair well with Hatterene, Cinderace or Great Tusk to either deny hazards or to remove them. Furthermore, they synergize with each other offensively and defensively. Hatterene doesn't want to deal with Steel Pokémon but Weavile can switch into them. Weavile can handle bulky Water, Ground or Grass Pokémon some of which Cinderace and Great Tusk want to avoid.

Competitive Overview: Seems like most of us went the defensive route with Tera Electric, which is interesting since Electric is fairly mid as a defensive typing but I guess it makes sense since we have Pawmot as an offensive Tera Electric mon already. So, I did the same thing, basically doing one of my favorite things that Tera can do, being able to turn anything into Eelektross. I was gonna do this with Gengar but that seems too easy, so here's another Gen 1 Poison-type that naturally gets TBolt. GWeezing is usually used as a way to Defog on Gholdengo, but this TeraForm trades that for much improved offensive capabilities and a substantial physical bulk boost as a cherry on top, so even if you're forced to Tera before beating Gholdengo you can just smack it with a Fire Blast to threaten it. Volt Switch is also a huge buff to base and this TeraForm, since one of Weezing's biggest issues is how much of a momentum sink it is.

Competitive Overview: When I subbed this as a Water Mega Lopunny in Slate 1, I forgot the important part of Mega Lopunny in that it has actually high powered STABs. The calcs I was doing on Tera Blast were so sad, I couldn't tell y'all about them. Now as an Ice-type, Triple Axel will hit hard enough to make it worth the Tera, especially if you hit a Triple Axel before you Tera and then (until you switch) you get the STAB Tera boost on it and do silly damage. You do require hazard control though, since it's a Rocks-weak pivot that can't hold boots.

Sub review and vetoes time!

As stated in the OP, during the Veto / Review Phase, we'll give people a chance to fix potentially broken or extremely weak submissions. Any sub that's vetoed and isn't appropriately nerfed/buffed/replaced will not be eligible for voting. New submissions can be made and all submissions can be edited during the Veto / Review Phase, but note that newly added things can be vetoed without warning if they are too strong or too weak.

Additionally, this is also a sub review, I'll also be giving feedback on all subs, not just vetoed ones. These are just my opinion, so unless it is a veto, it's up to you whether or not you take my advice. You'll know if something would get vetoed if I put the word Veto in Bold in the review.

:latios:Seems solid with its BoltBeam combo and high stats, simple but effective
:sandy shocks:Similar to the above, also simple and effective and builds on what was Shocks' best set in OU. You could opt for a very slightly stronger ability, since this does have to be a Rocks-weak item-locked pivot
:gallade:Reminds me a lot of Steadfast Gallade in VaporeMons, who's a menace sometimes, I could see this working. Maybe add some Attack to sweeten the deal further, since it's fairly weak compared to incumbent Grounds like Tusk and Lando

:garganacl:Pivoting Garganacl jumpscare. Honestly a very neat way to retain Garganacl's favorite mechanic while still being interesting, I like it. (and yes i am happy you said the thing)
:rhyperior:This thing looks like a demon, not in like a veto-worthy way since it's still very slow and specially frail, but it looks absolutely terrifying to play against. Reminds me of something like Ursaluna, but with better longevity and utility, should be a strong pick

:mamoswine:Pretty fun concept, spending your Tera to make hazard removal very easy, but I do recommend removing Rapid Spin. This having Spin feels very redundant when you made a custom ability for it to remove hazards, so it not having Spin would make people interact with the new ability you made for it, meanwhile if you just wanted it for the Speed boosting effect then you already have Trailblaze. I see the reasoning that it was for non-Tera sets, but I think it would be more worth encouraging the use of the TeraForm for its very unique quality of very easy hazard control
:bastiodon:Very fat pivot, was initially concerned that this was too fat to have both Regen and pivoting but after thinking about it, it should be fine since it's so passive. Also, while I actually agree with it losing its Ice moves to prevent any way to beating Ground-types with Avalanche or Ice Beam, I do think this can keep Trailblaze, it's so weak that it's not helping against any OU-viable Grounds
:regieleki:This one has revealed two new things that I did not consider were possible, being lowering the HP stat and lowering BST. The former is of particular interest, though, since I'm not sure if there are any game-breaking consequences when an in-battle form change lowers something's HP. I haven't gotten a chance to test this interaction out, so I'm not vetoing it for that since I'm not sure, but I would probably recommend keeping its HP at 80 to play it safe (and boosting Def and SpD to 80 to keep the symmetry that you appear to be going for). As for the mon itself, it seems pretty mid but that's for the best probably

:noivern:Neat take on Noivern, gives it new coverage it's never had and leans into its offensive utility roles more, I like the concept
:jolteon:This would get vetoed, STAB BoltBeam with the Sheer Force boost on 130 Speed is too good of an offensive profile, even with the Rocks weakness. Remove Ice Beam and it should be fine, since it still has the much weaker Tera Blast
:delphox:Fast Special Attacking Grounds are seldom seen and the type pairs very well with both Fire and Fairy, so this should be quite good. Also definitely agree with removing Will-O, confusions with that would be super annoying with 128 Speed

:avalugg:Already commented on this on Discord, is a pretty neat physical wall, not much else to say
:electrode:Pretty scary BoltBeamer with its high power Ice STABs and ability to go physical or special, but only having 90 offenses and still dying instantly to anything should keep it in check, even considering how (fittingly) nuclear Explosion is
:volcanion:Looks fine a fine tank, like a Ground-type Heatran. Because of that comparison, I'm thinking that you could potentially give this Stealtk Rock for some extra utility out of your Ground-type, since you are spending your Tera to have this instead of using OU's many other Ground. Also it's mildly amusing that this goes from being immune to Water to weak to Water, you can play mindgames with that maybe

:weavile:Already commented on this in Discord and I'm still waiting on other thoughts from council, but yeah the Defense drop effect from Jumpscare does scare me (pun intended) a bit, since Weavile is so fast and its offensive profile is so good, which lets it force switches very easily for free Knocks or Swords Dances. The fact this de-incentivizes setting hazards is an interesting dynamic, but could also potentially be too strong, so we'll have to see

fax-my.png

And that's it!
See you tomorrow for voting!

Nothing has been vetoed!

Voting will end in 48 hours. Good luck!
If your sub isn't here and it wasn't vetoed, then please let me know!

Competitive Overview:
Fastest mon in the tier, has a great offensive STAB combo, as well as good mixed stats. It is able to deal good damage, but due to its Ice-type, low defenses, and lack of Heavy-Duty Boots, it has a really hard time switching in and out, so when it ends up low on health, from hazard damage, opposing attacks, or Refrigerate Double-Edge recoil, it can use Refrigerate Explosion.

Removed Moves: N/A
Competitive Overview: When I subbed this as a Water Mega Lopunny in Slate 1, I forgot the important part of Mega Lopunny in that it has actually high powered STABs.

New Moves: Earth Power, Moonblast, Lava Plume
Removed Moves: Will O Wisp
Competitive Overview: Pecharunt-core. Removed Wisp because Delphox is quite a bit faster here than Runt and I wanted to stick to having it rely on attack moves instead of status moves to incur status. Lava Plume and Scorching Sands both have relatively good burn rates as compared to other moves that can burn.

Competitive Overview:
Viable Neutralizing Gas user, lack of Heavy-Duty Boots hurts it before tera'ing, but after tera it becomes extremely bulky, both physically and specially, while dealing heavy damage due to its boosted SpAtk as well as good offensive type combination. Many Pokemon that rely on their ability are annoyed by Neutralizing Gas shutting it off, while they are also threatened by its STABs too.

Competitive Overview: I just think that Tera Ground Comfey is neat. Functions the exact same as it does in regular OU just with better physical bulk to make setting up easier. Also gave it Defog back since it used to get that for some reason, it plus Moonblast could make non-Tera fast utility sets a thing.
