Round Six: Countdown Continued

Seriously, what is the with the substitutes? Gastly joins in and makes one for himself, though he is still affected by Leech Seed, healing Embirch in the bargain. Gyarados uses the time to his advantage by performing a Dragon Dance, putting him back at neutral attack and boosting his speed slightly from the comfort of behind a substitute. Once again, Minccino makes a substitute, though she is now very low on both health and energy. The fact that she is taking both Leech Seed and Burn damage isn't helping either. Embirch uses Ember on Minccino's substitute, but it remains standing, if singed, at which point the sandstorm kicks up again.

Gastly remembers what worked previously, so he launches a powerful Thunderbolt, shattering Gyarados' substitute. Poor thing never had a chance. Anyway, Gyarados does some shattering of his own when he destroys Minccino's substitute with an Aqua Tail. After her burn and leech seed, Minccino looks on the verge of fainting. She holds it together though and does some damage to Embirch's substitute with a nice Dig. Embirch, for his part, is exhausted, and simply chills. Uh oh! Sandstorm again, and this time it KOs Minccino (KOC goes to Gyarados).

Furious at the loss of a comrade, Gastly uses Will-o-wisp to burn Gyarados. Ouch, that looks pretty painful. Gyarados looks around confusedly, before doing nothing (A note here: This just happened in my match with Deck, and apparently, if something is KOed and the pokemon aren't specifically told to retarget based on that possibility, they do nothing... IDK but that's how it is I guess). Embirch ends the round by chilling yet again.

Alright that went perfectly! We get our last round of life to ease the way in for Itasca in its final showdown with Bertha.

Topsy: Use that Speed boost before it runs out to set up a 15 HP Substitute in front of Nappa's Hypnosis (I know MOAR SUBZZ!). Since it's so determined to put you to sleep, it should keep trying to Hypnosis over and over again, rendering itself useless before it faints. Then I want you to go after Bertha so as to help out Itasca next round. Aqua Tail it twice and break those Subs!

Kitch: Go for broke. You chilled last round for a reason. Giga Drain x3 (Bertha)! You should have just barely enough energy to launch the third one! Coupled with Topsy's Aqua Tails, this should leave Bertha low on health and nary a Substitute in sight.

We should be in really good shape after this.

Round Seven: The Final Countdown

Things seem to be winding down as the Perish Clock ticks toward zero. In the final frenzy of activity, Drillbur also makes a Substitute (WHEN WILL THE MADNESS CEASE!?), with Gyarados opening by creating yet another Substitute, which Gastly attempts to futilely put to sleep with Hypnosis. Embirch, on its part, nearly destroys Drillbur's sub right off the bat with a Giga Drain.

With its substitute still up (if barely), Drillbur uses the time to Hone its Claws, boosting attack and speed. Gyarados goes on the offensive from behind the safety of its substitute and breaks Drillbur's with a powerful Aqua Tail. Gastly meanwhile, keeps trying to hypnotize the substitute to sleep. Gyarados' speed boost really screwed Gastly over this round. Embirch, knowing what works, uses Giga Drain again, damaging Drillbur.

Drillbur yet again makes a replacement substitute. In a case of deja vu, Gyarados destroys Drillbur's substitute with an Aqua Tail while Gastly fails to hypnotize it, succumbing to energy exhaustion from the repeated attempts. While Embirch uses a last Giga Drain to inflict some major damage to Drillbur. Arceus laughs at the foolishness of all the pokemon before him as Gyarados faints from the Perish Clock, though he appears angry that the sandstorm has been still going on all this time.
