after an 8-month hiatus, the tournament is finally back up! for those who missed the first two tournaments, you may search the forums for the other two threads to gze at wonders past!

who will join the two past winning groups, Pink Floyd and Rush? will it be another 70s progressive rock band featuring guys with long hair? or will another group finally ascend and upset the throne? only time will tell.

this tournament features 100 bands, fewer than last year's 125, so the competition is already heated up before it even got started. in addition, twenty-six (26) new groups/artists will be featured, meaning that a shocking FIFTY-ONE or so bands from last tournament are no where to be found. however, I believe that the list I made encompasses a broad scope of all types of music, so that everyone can have a group/artist to cheer for. keep in mind, though, that this is geared toward the Smogon community, so the scale does lean a little in terms of the bands selected.

undoubtedly we have had a flood of new users to the forums since the last tournament, and I am taking no prisoners in this round of voting. READ THE RULES AND READ THEM CAREFULLY. if you mess up more than once I am putting you on the blacklist and your votes for the rest of the tournament will be forever null and void.

THE RULES:
1. Each time you vote, you have 2 positive points and 4 negative points which you assign to bands that you like and dislike, respectively. when you vote, you must use all of your points, or your vote will not count.

2. You CANNOT use more than 2 of your negative points in each of your votes on one band. In other words, you cannot assign 3 or all 4 of your negative points on one band in one vote. The worst you can do is vote -2 every time--this is aiming to eliminate one person from decimating a band under the radar in a short period of time.

3. Other than the exception stated by rule number 2, you can assign your positive and negative points in any other distribution you wish.

4. You can only vote ONCE PER 24 HOURS. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT RULE. So, for example, if you vote at 5:00 PM on Monday, you CANNOT vote again until AT LEAST 5:00 PM on the following Tuesday. I don't care if your vote comes at 4:59:59 PM on Tuesday, that vote will be disqualified, and you will not be able to vote for ANOTHER 24 hours (meaning at least 5:00 PM on Wednesday in this hypothetical situation). The 24 hour timer, however, is reset upon updated scores posts. I will be VERY strict on this rule, and if you mess up more than once, you're out, period.

5. Each band starts with 20 points. The last band left standing is the winner!

6. And, guys, please do not troll or flame each other because your band is getting voted down or whatever. Believe me, I doubt any of my bands will make it into the top 10 at least, but this is all just for fun. Don't make it personal.

This rule contradicts rule #1 at the point that there's only two bands left. Also, the way it's worded now, I could give one band +2 and then -4 for whatever reason and get the same results as if I just did -2 for that band and nothing else.

That's just me trying to avoid people exploiting those loopholes later.

Anyway most of the bands I know on this list (very few) I don't know except Rammstein which is ass so:

+1 pink floyd
+1 incubus
-2 rammstein
-2 beach boys

this list sucks. i love your "broad range" of music

+2 smashing pumpkins
-2 a perfect circle
-2 avenged sevenfold

+1 Minus The Bear
+1 Bloc Party
-1 Dream Theater
-1 Faith No More
-2 Guns n Roses

So much for electronic music being on the list. >:
