- Garchomp finds a niche as a fast entry hazard stacker that can also phaze foes and punish Rapid Spin attempts from Great Tusk.
- Dragon Tail racks up a lot of damage on the opposing team, as well as phazing boosters that try to use Garchomp as setup fodder, like Bulk Up Great Tusk.
- 136 EVs in Speed with a Jolly nature allow Garchomp to outspeed unboosted Great Tusk and Glimmora. The rest of its EVs are poured into its physical bulk to better tank hits from the likes of Palafin, Great Tusk, and Annihilape.
- Tera Steel lets Garchomp block Glimmora’s Mortal Spin while also giving it a Fairy, Ice, and Dragon resistance.
- Tera Poison doesn't let Garchomp block Glimmora’s Mortal Spin, but it does let Garchomp absorb Toxic Spikes from the likes of Toxapex and the aforementioned Glimmora.
- Garchomp is best used as a phazer mid-game to soften up the opposing team with entry hazard damage, but it can also act as a lead to set up entry hazards.
- Double Dance Miraidon loves Garchomp weakening and threatening Clodsire and Iron Treads, which are its best counters, and it also appreciates the damage caused by Garchomp’s entry hazards.
- Koraidon appreciates Garchomp chipping Great Tusk through phazing, entry hazard damage, and the punishing of its Rapid Spin attempts with Rough Skin and Rocky Helmet.
- Gholdengo can not only keep up Garchomp’s entry hazards in the face of all common hazard removal options but can also resist the common Ice- and Fairy-type attacks that would hit Garchomp super effectively.
- Pokemon like Great Tusk and Iron Treads help out Garchomp by removing entry hazards from opposing hazard setters, like Ting-Lu and Glimmora, as Garchomp struggles with preventing them from setting up hazards. Great Tusk can also pressure Koraidon, and Iron Treads can check Miraidon, both of which threaten Garchomp.
- Setup sweepers like Calm Mind Flutter Mane and Iron Valiant can take advantage of Garchomp forcing in Defoggers by using them as a window to set up and threaten a sweep. Flutter Mane in particular can dissuade Rapid Spin attempts.
