Seeing Crystal Castles early next year which should be a blast, but I'm currently tossing up whether or not to see Beirut play in a month or so.
Can anyone comment on the atmosphere of their live performances?

looks like fun to me

Okay, all the videos are up!

Sorry for the poor quality on Bonfire. The camera went out of focus when the lights went off and I didn't want to stop the video halfway through the song.

I just got back from seeing Stars with openers California Wives and Diamond Rings. All three were awesome. I have a couple pictures but my iPhone decided to be dumb and blurred the picture of California Wives.

Stars:

Good times were had. :)

Anyone ever go to the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford CT?
I'm gettin ready for a Pretty Lights concert and I basically want to know about the security there. Like will they search me and confiscate all alcohol and other drugs, or should I smuggle it in in my underwear?

Two weeks ago I saw Flosstradomus and A-Trak at a free block party in Athens and I thought that was insane but tomorrow I'm going to see Death Grips in Atlanta. I don't even know how I'm going to handle that. It's going to be fucking. insane.

saw joey bada$$ at S.O.B.'s in NYC last tuesday and he was pretty good, but didn't really live up to my expectations. thinking about catching the Action Bronson show at Brooklyn Bowl on Dec. 26th.

OH WORD THIS THREAD

saw asap rocky asap mob, schoolboy q and danny brown at the electric factory in PA nov 18th

FEATURING guest performer AB SOUL

best concert ive been to by far. so much energy

I saw Nightwish earlier this month, with Floor Jansen standing in as the main female vocalist. I know Floor has a powerful voice so I expected her to do all the Tarja-era songs really well (which she did) but maybe the later stuff wouldn't quite work. Holy shit. She really, really nailed Ghost River.

Saw No Doubt on Thursday, Grouplove opened. Both were amazing but I was there for No Doubt of course. Gwen Stefani is hotter than she's ever been and sings just as well.

This isn't the best quality in the world but really captures the energy of the band. I wonder if the person recording really thought that Tony (bassist) was playing the guitar solo lol.

Hmm..

Past month or so I've seen Red Jump Suit Apparatus, Matt and Kim, Oceano, and Texas in July.

GO TO MATT AND KIM if you like any of their songs just GO.

I've got a big Metal concert coming up

Motionless in White
Chelsea Grin, Stick To Your Guns, Upon This Dawning, The Witch Was Right, The Curse of Hail, They Will Repent

Fuck, I could go on and on about the ones I've been to recently, but I just got back from one at the House of Blues in Dallas. The Black Dahlia Murder (kinda meh), All That Remains (great), Machine Head (great), and Dethklok (MOTHER OF GOD) headlined. I'm so sore right now. Metal concerts are always the best.

My friend and I were some of the earliest to arrive at Paradiso, a venue in Amsterdam located in an old church. Since we were so early, we managed to get a spot right at the podium. A few minutes later, opening act Mightyfools, a two-man DJ set, started, and they were a pretty great warm-up for what was yet to come. They played a few bangers, and after a while started building down and eventually left the stage. The room went dark, and after a while this kid walks onto stage.

Madeon.

An 18-year-old scrawny French kid, hardly taller than 1.70m, takes the stage, gets set up behind his two laptops and three launchpads, and just kills it. It is fantastic how much qualitative repertoire an artist as young as him has produced already. Original songs like The City and Finale, but also remixes of songs like Deadmau5' Raise Your Weapon, multiple Knife Party songs, and even Blur's Song 2. The sound this guy squeezes out of these three launchpads is fantastic, and the light show was a sight to behold as well.

If you weren't already, be on the lookout for Madeon. This guy is gonna make it big, I'm calling it.

Going to see Jeff Mangum and Purity Ring this January. I also saw Japandroids about a week back. I refuse to take pictures or videos at concerts because that's the ultimate dick move.

I've also got tickets to see Mangum in Buffalo next month! Super excited.

After searching Magnum and decided that a Magnum .337 nor condoms were relevant to "The Concert Thread" I had to be more specific with my search.

I assume that it is Jeff Magnum you are referring to?

After being to a few 'hipster' concerts.. I honestly don't see the appeal. Unless you really know the band.. the music just meshes together..

but again.. I like more 'active' concerts.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying here. What exactly is a "hipster" concert? Are you speaking about the crowd or the band? Or the type of music? Or what the crowd is doing during the performance? And why would you go to a show if you didn't know/check out previously at least one of the bands performing? And what is "active"? Dancing? Slam-dancing? People having sex on stage?

I like raving and love moshing.

Anything slower.. unless I really really like the band.. just doesn't do it for me.

And I dunno, Hipster == Indie music. I mean on the sidebar of a Magnum sonf of youtube it has a video called "confessions of a hipster". Obviously there is a correlation between the two. I have no qualms against either.

Some music is better live.. others are not abd which are and aren't is completely subjective you know?

And why would you go to a show if you didn't know/check out previously at least one of the bands performing?

Surely you've been to a concert without knowing the headliner? Anyways, for me all I need is the gist of the music I'll be listening to.

Also, Rise Against is going to be touring in Europe. Get your tickets and mosh hard.

And anyone who see's these guys live I'm extremely jealous of! !!

saw passion pit, ra ra riot, the rice cakes, and the joy formidable last week. phenomenal. it was my first experience with moshing and i decided it's just not really for me.

i might see passion pit again and matt & kim in february!

I don't think anyone can understand the term "moshing" anymore, because it really isn't what it used to be. They're all pits, but there's a big difference between "moshing" and "slamdancing".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=XQW8eb1P3dk#t=64s

That's slamdancing. I used to do that too, I used to fucking adore hardcore shows. But then I got old and stopped being retarded. Moshing is nothing more than jumping around and bumping into and shoving each other, it's much less violent. I think over time, these terms have overlapped a bit too much.

All that said... I wanna see Ra Ra Riot!
