The Counter Game

Status
Not open for further replies.
In my eyes, for the purposes of this game, a "counter" is a Pokemon that can switch into a Pokemon, and, assuming neither Pokemon switches, that counter Pokemon will end up with at least 1 HP, and the other Pokemon will be fainted.

spiderweb is right Age of Kings, you're supposed to be able to take a hit from any of the moves (which includes stone edge in this example) and then OHKO the other pokemon while surviving. So I don't think that would serve to counter Heracross

To Mantine:

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Adamant@ 4/252/0/0/0/252
Waterfall
Poison Jab
Substitute
Swords Dance

Comes in, sets up a Substitute, SD's behind it and KO's with Poison Jab.

@Toxicroak:

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Relaxed, Levitate
252 Hp, 108 Defense, 8 Special Defense, 140 Attack
~Gyro Ball
~Earthquake
~Trick Room
~Hypnosis

Of course, Swords Dance'd Sucker Punch is a beast, but so is Bronzong.

Gyarados@Lum Berry
Adamant
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
-Taunt
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Waterfall

comes in eats your Hypnosis then taunts you, making you set-up fodder. WFall may not be SE but still hits hard here are the calcs:

no DD:Damage: 30.77% - 36.09%
1 DD:Damage: 45.56% - 53.85%
2 DD:Damage: 60.65% - 71.30%
3 DD:Damage: 75.74% - 89.05%
4 DD:--(For some reason MKid calcs wouldn't compute it >_<)
5 DD:Damage: 90.53% - 106.51%
6 DD:Damage: 120.71% - 142.01%

Try this on for size, big boy:

To Gyarados:

Mantine @ Leftovers
Calm@ 252/0/0/120/136/0
Surf
HP Electric
Toxic
Ice Beam

Mantine is completely immune to both of Gyara's attacks, and does around 70-80% to the serpent with HP Electric.

Modest, Chlorophyll
4HP/ 252 S.Atk/ 252 Spd
-Sleep Powder
-Sunny Day
-Solarbeam
-HP Fire

Resists your two moves, then hits with HP Fire.

I could start the cycle again, with Lum Gyarados, or I could just post this:

Heatran @ Chesto
Modest, 252 Sa, 200 Sp, 56 Hp
~Overheat
~Fire Blast
~Earth Power
~Dragon Pulse

To Heatran:

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Careful@ 76/144/36/0/252/0
Body Slam
Earthquake
Rest
Curse

Since you neither have Will-O-Wisp or HP Fight, I can come in, and kill you with Earthquake.

Skarmory @ Leftovers
252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Drill Peck
- Roost

Drill Peck is there just so if I have to actually attack you recoil doesn't kill me (due to Snorlax's high HP).

@Snorlax:

Drifblim @ Focus Sash
Timid, Unburden
252 Speed, 252 Sa, 6 De
~Shadow Ball
~HP Fighting
~Destiny Bond
~Hypnosis

Since I already utterly wall your Lax, I focused on making it hard for the incoming Poke to counter me. It has 426 speed after activating it's sash, at which point it can Destiny Bond at will. It has the perfect attack combo of Ghost/Fight, and can Hypnosis the incoming switch.

you can't put multiple attacks here since it would be impossible to counter...so i'm assuming you have the first one HP fighting.

Noctowl @ Expert Belt
Insomnia
Modest 252 hp 252 atk
- roost
- air slash
- shadow ball
- hp fire

immune to sleep and shadow ball, neutral to focus blast and Hp fighting. can roost damage and kill with shadow ball.

Ice Fang

Crunch

Outspeeds Noct and KO's with SE.

How does that Gengar counter my Drifblim at all? Sure, it's immune to HP Fight, but it's going to take STAB SE Shadow Ball from 279 Sa, doing 100.00% - 117.56% vs your Gengar. =\ I also have Hypnosis on it, so I could disable you. Then, there's my Focus Sash, which allows me three chances to attack you, one on the switch-in, one when you activate the Sash, and the next turn, when I horribly outspeed you through unburden. You have no mention of Destiny Bond, either, which can easily take you down. That was a pretty bad counter...

But assuming that my Drifblim was somehow taken down...

@Aerodactyl:

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Impish, 252 Sd, 129 At, 129 Hp
~Earthquake
~Ice Fang
~Slack Off
~Curse

Defends well against you, and Curses up. Will beat you in the end.

Suicune@leftovers
252 hp/252 defense

sleep talk

Can take any of your hits and ko with surf :)

Poliwrath@Salac Berry
Water Absorb
Jolly Max Speed and Attack+4HP
Sub/WaterFall
Belly Drum
Close Combat
EQ

Renders you vunerable and without offense via Water Absorb. Belly Drum will max Attack and give the OHKO/2HKO/3HKO I need.

Those moves would only apply if you were faster. Seeing as Gar runs Max Speed, he shoud outrun you and disable you first. You're vunerable while asleep, so I'd 2HKO you while you were asleep. To ensure I survive, I'll swap my Life ORb for FS, so even if you do wake up, I'll survive. I'll also throw Shadow Sneak (It's horrible on Gar, but if you're at 1 HP, it should work) in.

For that Hippowdon.

Magnezone@Life Orb
Timid Max Speed and SpeAttack
Magnet Rise
HpIce
TBolt
Filler

Outspeeds Hippo and MR to become immune to EQ. Resists Ice Fang and can score SF's with HPIce.

@paperplane: The counter game works with you switcing in first, requiring you to take any hit I have on my Pokemon. Gengar cannot survive Shadow Ball. If he has Focus Sash, he gets one hit on me, which I survive with my own Sash, and then Shadow Ball you again. From there on out, my unburden ability will be activated, giving me much higher speed than Gengar. I could alternately punish you with Destiny Bond, or disable you with Hypnosis.

And as your Magnezone has to switch in on my Hippo, he is not a counter, being easily OHKO'd by my Earthquake.

This is getting ridiculous, IMO.

To Hippowdon:

Suicune @ Leftovers

Have fun. Comes in on anything, and 1-2KO's with Surf.
