England are in a much better position now 240/4 and the ball seems to be turning quite a bit. If England can get 350+ it would make for an interesting contest.

Australia looked good yesterday, well done by Ponting and Katich to give the team a good start then Clarke and North keeping up the momentum. Expecting a healthy lead from them if Haddin can stay in for a few hours at least. It'd be good to see North get a hundred in his first Ashes match.
The only really bad thing I saw yesterday was Hussey failing again. He needs to get his shit into gear, he's a fantastic batsman and I want him to be fantastic.

haha. Yeah he made a hundred in the Lions test and is as or a more capable batsmen then any on tour. It's one innings. Though everyone contributed nicely. If anything was disappointing it was that Hughes couldn't convert when he was hitting the ball nicely. They say thirty is as big of a failure as 0. Sure on the scoreboard it isn't, but it's almost a crime to get out in the thirties. Anyone who plays cricket would agree with me.

England basically have to bat out the whole of tommorow to save the test. I think Australia have a very good chance of winning.
Yet still achieved a draw. Honestly I really am quite angry. Broad was absolutely plum in front on the first ball of his innings, that really was a terrible decision. Once Johnson gets on a role he is almost impossible to bat against. Ask South Africa.

It all goes around. It's just when your team bats so well you expect victory, knowing that england didn't bat well in this match is frightening. The Australians won't be able to reproduce that innings in the next match IMO. However a few of the english batsmen that got starts could go on to some big scores. So when that 1-0 lead is being dangled infront of your eyes you need to grab it.
Although ultimately some criticism of the Australian bowling attack is due. If they don't have the potency to get out a number 11 in 12 overs question marks have to be raised. This is why I miss Stuart Clark.

I was actually very impressed with the Australian attack. Siddle looks very solid, as does Hilfenhaus and even Hauritz. The only one that I would question, based solely on that match is Johnson, who most Australians seem to have a lot of confidence in. It was just slightly unlucky, perhaps the bowling wasn't quite as intense as it could have been, but I wouldn't blame them after 30 hours or so of cricket, it just happens.
Anyway, if at any point you feel worried about your attack, take a look at the England attack, and re-think.

I gotta say the test matches between Sri Lanka and Pakistan are alot more interesting than the Ashes atm. How in the world does a team collapse from 285/2 to 320 all out! And they failed to chase 97 in the last test. Boy Pakistan are making a habit of collapsing dramatically which is great for everyone accept the Pak team O:

That gives us a very good chance of forcing a result, so long as the likes of Ponting don't decide to stick around for a day. Anderson pick of the bowlers at 4-36, I'm yet to see any highlights though.

The umpire is a fucking joke, and Andrew Strauss is a fucking dirty player. Appealing when the ball falls 6 inches in front of you is a disgrace. You guys may have this match but England need to really show a little sportsmanship :(.

lol get over it, bad decisions occur in cricket. it's part of the game, umpires have to make quick decisions. admittedly this is made easier by the 3rd umpire but, for example, it was difficult to tell whether ravi bopara was out of not.

Snicko just showed that Hussey didn't even hit the ball when he just got out, so you're telling me that even though 3 of the 4 wickets were mistakes in a pivotal match, that it's "just cricket". I'd understand with a single mistake, but three is unforgivable.

I'm not denying our standard of cricket had been lethargic this match, especially our batting lineup, who could not cover the asses of our inept bowling lineup this time round (we need Stuart Clark!)

Even though none of the wickets could have mattered and England could have won regardless, our chances of preventing a 1-0 defecit were diminished due to poor umpiring, that you cannot deny.

England didn't have 190 overs to face. And Australia doesn't have someone like Jimmy Anderson coming in at #10 who is most definitely not a #10-batsman.
I doubt Australia had ANY chance to salvage this. The only person who could've done anything was Ponting and he was legitimately out.

Peter Siddle deserve more credit from you as a solid 10, he really is underrated down there and also isn't like most 10's.
Also give Michael Clarke some credit, although England have most likely won this, Clarke has salvaged a fair few matches in the past, it's a matter of if Haddin (who is admittedly looking pretty shaky) and co stick with him.
