The Cricket Thread Part Deux

This is shaping up to be a pretty good game...Strauss looked really good at the beginning, shame he got out, quite a good knock from Bell as well. Trott's looked pretty solid considering it's his debut on the deciding Ashes test, and hopefully Flintoff will combine with him to make a decent partnership.

EDIT: bah flintoff.

We didn't get enough, our bowling attack isn't up to defending a 332 first innings total, imo.

Interestingly enough, most of the bad decisions have gone Australia's way, so I'm not really fussed.

This pleases me that everyone thought that 332 was shit, the Aussies have done an English style collapse and that it's Broad who has been poor all series who has instigated this. Hehe

I dropped Broad for Anderson from my fantasy cricket team after the third test (DAMMIT SHIV) despite him being my favourite England player (without KP)... and he gets 2 five-fors and ~100 runs :(

ahahahahahaha

I wish they'd fucking stop saying that Broad is the new Flintoff. First off Flintoff hasn't always performed, he's blown hot and cold throughout a lot of his career, secondly Broad doesn't need that kind of pressure. He's probably got the potential to be a better bowler than Flintoff, but is not as good with the bat. Let Broad be Broad, he's been poor most of this series anyway ._.

I reckon Australia would have seriously threatened 546 without those two run outs. Time for composite Ashes teams:

1. Andrew Strauss (c)
2. Simon Katich
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Michael Clarke
5. Marcus North
6. Brad Haddin (w)
7. Stuart Broad
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Graeme Swann
10. Peter Siddle
11. Ben Hilfenhaus

12th man Nathan Hauritz
Reserve batsman Shane Watson

Only 3 Englishmen! Anderson has gone missing since the 3rd Test, and Flintoff would be an option... if he was fit.

I wish they'd fucking stop saying that Broad is the new Flintoff.

He is already a better batsman IMO... and has taken 3 five wicket hauls (Flintoff only took 3 in his entire career). Go figure. Fred has always been overrated because of his likable personality and the English need for a hero. Much like Michael Vaughan, Flintoff was a good player with a few great years, rather than a great player with many good years. Stuart Broad will develop into a far superior cricketer.

well played england, but i can't help but think that if ponting and clarke hadn't been run out the match would have been way more interesting.

Those two run outs were Australia's downfall, without them they would've won I reckon. Well played England, but more importantly well played Hussey. He's deserved a hundred for a while, but sadly it was in a losing cause.

The ODIs should be interesting. I couldn't give a fuck about the T20s though.

Fair points McGraw, and well said. What a fantastic days cricket, and I was there to witness it! Swann bowled well all day, and Harmison did a great job of cleaning up the tail.

I'm not that fussed about the ODIs, Aussies will probably steamroll us, but it gives us a chance to take a look at some young talent =)

Ponting's run out was dumb, Clarke shouldn't really have been running down the wicket and North just wasn't paying attention. Haddin's wicket was also very stupid, a gifted win.

Yeah glad hussey got a 100, aside from his poor form he also has been really, really unlucky lately..

Have a nice day.
