The Cricket Thread

Australia really are dead meat. I can't see them scoring 250+ in the last two sessions on an Indian wicket, with 3 wickets down already. it's not like they have a solid base that they can start hitting off or anything. The game i heading for a draw and that's that I think. We're going to have to wait for something else exciting to happen now lol

Yes! We won. Yeah I'm a Spin Bowler with Yorker as my Variation ball. That's why I was asking how to bowl it. My Yorker tops out at 35 miles an hour,I just pulled my arm up to get the length for my Yorker and BAM! It just spun under the opposing team openers bat and and totally bowled him, with my net Yorker getting me an LBW appeal, just brilliant. Thanks newbioform, you da man. I was planning orginally on just bowling Leg Spin but afr I saw your post I decided to try a Leg Spin movement with a Yorker length. Pretty amazing ^^

SO basically you mean you bowled a full length faster ball, which reminds me, a couple of Ashes back (You know the one we won ^^) Shane Warne bowled a faster ball bouncer that came up to Strauss' Neck sort of height, it was immense. Variety always helps when bowling Spin, that's what it's all about.

Harbhajan Singh just gets better and better. Hopefully Australia demolishes India in the ODIs and T20s so we can save some face. I don't think the new spinner's style would be suitable to these though.
hmm i don't think there are going to be ODI's or T20's between the two teams for a while, unless you mean the next time they face, we will just have to wait and see, and yes harbhajan singh is improving, he has had a great year so far, leading wicket taker in test cricket in 2008

Huh, my mind must be playing tricks on me for I somehow remembered there been half a dozen ODIs and T20s organised for the tour. Meh all these exams is doing me no good.
And you are welcome, Master Sunny-Ex. ;) Hope you score some cash.

3 more days for the England India series! I really want to see Kevin Pietersen's captaincy against India who are in terrible form ATM.

I want to see England play well, but my hopes are not high. I know that our performance in ODIs has been simply appaling in the last 5 years or so, and it doesn't seems to be getting better. We seem to be resting on the idea that we should have "One-Day Specialists" who perform better in One Dayers than the test match players will. I'm not too sure about our test side at the moment either, but there is a little more hope in the test series, oh well. What will happen, will happen right?

Under Pietersen, England won the test against SA and whitewashed the one day tour. So there is nothing much to worry and Flintoff is in form which is good for us. Come on, England.

India in terrible form? where did you get that from? we just beat Australia 2-0, and our last ODI series was 3-2 India, having said that i would also like to see KP's captaincy against India, should be a good contest, two raising captains going against each other.

India getting 387-5 and England struggling at 76-5 IS something to worry about right?

Edit : Getting to 229 after 76-5 wasn't bad though...

Hate to burst your bubble Taxie, but you are wrong lol. We are completely doomed. Our One Day side is appaling I mean look at this

Anderson 8.0 0 52 0
Broad 10.0 0 74 0
Flintoff 10.0 0 67 1
S Harmison 10.0 0 75 2
Patel 9.0 0 78 2
Collingwood 1.0 0 15 0
Pietersen 2.0 0 16 0

I highlighted the good performances in green :/ Bolding the wicket Takers for obvious reasons, apparently we have to give away roughly 7 runs an over to get two wickets in ten overs which is very embarrasing. Those seriously are the shittest economy rates I have seen since that Aus vs South Africa match where they both scored 450 or so. And that match was epic, this unfortunately wasn't. Relying on Bopara to score runs for us, (pietersen obviously did ok too) is also rather embarrasing, and we had to be 5 wickets down before scoring any real runs. This series is only going one way.

Goldfan, I really feel statistics does not matter. If you always go by statistics, nobody expected India to win the T20 world cup , Nobody expected India to win the CB series. Nobody expected Bangladesh to beat INdia and Ireland to beat Pakistan in WC 2007. Actually, nobody even expected India to beat Australia in the test series that happened now. So, statistics can be contradicted most of the times. you can't really rely on it.

You are pointing out outliers, basically what It is I said was that it is very unlikely that England will win this series. If wecontinue to play like that we will lose. We may win the series if Harbajahn and Yuvraj suddenly fall ill or injure themselves or austere circumstances. We may win if Flintoff pulls a couple of blinders in the next couple of matches to swing it our way, but the way that we play in the last match was really poor and frankly unacceptable. We cannnot continue to play like that against India and expect to win, and if we do continue to play like that we will lose. Unfortunately I cannot see us improving drastically enough to win a seris, thats all I'm saying.

Previous match, England's run rate was not that bad the wickets fell quickly. Just because Harbhajan and Yuvraj excelled in one match, doesn't mean that they will always perform in the same manner. Anyway, England won the one day series last year though people come up with hundred silly reasons like "Dravid was the captain" , "England had home advantage" , etc. I still feel that England has a very good chance of winning and one match cannot let us down.

Yes, it is a seven match series and I think you were late in recognising that. England is a far better team than India and we shall win this series.

From Taxie's profile : "Location: Chennai, India"

Isn't this incredible for the amount he supports England? xD
