I wonder how quickly the Australians cocky comments will dry up here..

Too bad we havent got any South Africans though..

Have a nice day.

I personally didn't agree with the LBW on Katich, but we have fought back well from our shitty start. Looking forward to tomorrow's play, and excited to see how our young bowling lineup will do. Lol Hip, someones a bit resentful after being dominated by us earlier this summer :).

Seriously, the dude deserved that.. I mean, at least the English were actually winning at the point they started gloating..

Honestly I dont even know who I want to win though. South Africa and Australia are both as unbearable as each other..

Have a nice day.

Well, after that dismal start its good to see aggressive play has resulted in an alright score.

After 89 overs, Australia are at 9/341 with 1 over left to play today. Hopefully they can make 350! Interesting to see all this controversy about Warnie giving 'secrets' to the South Africans on how to get the Aussie Top order out, when i was out at dinner last night and he was sitting on the table opposite me!
To be honest, if Australia don't bat better in the 2nd innings, they deserve to lose this test.

hehe, nah i was just saying that the poms seem to love posting things like "this'll show those cocky aussies how to play in india" and stuff like that, before the match is over. i dont speak for all australians of course, but i think it's wise, if you have to get cocky, to wait until you have something to be cocky about.

anyway, i dont usually post in these parts of the forums, so maybe you thought i was "some dude" getting on his high horse. not to worry. and thanks i did have a nice day :P interesting cricket - closely balanced match. SA could be doing well, hard to tell until they have a bat. would be an amazing team if strauss and pieterson actually played for them instead of england lol....

and from MS's comment, am i to take it that youre a kiwi?

clarke and katich rebuilding nicely now. 3/150ish i think.....

btw i really enjoyed the first india/england test. was watching the run chase on cricinfo. i absolutely LOVED watching the poms' cocky comments drying up as india gradually beat them down :D
LOL you know I was doing the same for a while, cricinfo is most likely the best cricket site, I use to follow matches on that site till CBN started showing cricket matches here in Canada.

Here are a few comments when the run chase started

"As an Englishman living in Australia I really, really hope England pull off this victory in India. Just think how sick it would make these big-headed Aussies feel just having lost a series in India without even winning one test. COME ON ENGLAND !" says Robbie W.

And then a few overs later this comes

"As an Aussie reading Robbie M's comments, I say "thatta boy Sehwag, give 'em some more" says Glenn

Its funny how a few moths ago an english supporter would be saying the same sorta thing!

And yes i think Hip is a Kiwi

to be honest, i really like the way most nations seem to have their own approach to cricket. aussies get labelled as sledgers (which is true, but probably not more than most teams). poms get labelled as cocky. kiwi's are jut cool guys who come from a small country without the large talent-pool to draw from, but still manage to do quite well (not so much at the moment, with a few stars retiring, and shane bond getting tied up in ICL). but i really like the indians - they could sit and watch hayden and gilchrist bat an entire day, scoring 500 runs, and they would come away saying it was awesome stuff!

anyway, i really didnt mean to offend anyone by my original comment. but it was that exact email from Robbie W that i was thinking about lol...... and a few others which were even more "confident" in england's guaranteed win...... at least wait til youve taken a couple of early wickets before you start handing out the cheek ;)

EDIT: if robbie w wants to compare england to australia, lets let india win the next 3 tosses, and see if england does better than a 2-0 loss ;)

Wow, I go and have some dinner, I come back and BAM!! South Africa are now 8/243.
Apparantly Johnson has just destroyed the Protea's middle order and has taken the last 5 wickets for the addition of only 7 runs!
Good job!

Poor England, they've been bowling excellently, but they just lack the assertive touch they need to secure a wicket. With the way they're bowling, you almost get the feeling that England has a chance, because they're keeping it confident, tight and focused as much as they can.

Hmm....302/1 India at lunch. Gambhir and Dravid both have hundreds and are now looking to accelerate. Unless there is some major collapse like SA just recently, England are out of this game.

I love the west indies left arm spinner.. Suileman Ben or something. He's 6'8 and he reminds me of the dude from a nightmare before christmas when he approaches the crease. It's almost like he is sneaking up on the batsmen to steal their christmases.

Then he has this huge armspan, and you cant help thinking that if he would try bowling fast he'd be unplayable.. And he does have his variation ball.. His normal delivery is at around 90ks and then his variation, which doesnt seem to require any effort whatsoever comes out at 110ks..

Too bad once the initial surprise is lost he isnt really up to much, but he is great to watch.. But you cant help wondering why he doesnt bowl fast.. With that height even if he did only bowl at 110 I'd expect he'd be pretty hard to face..

Have a nice day.

From where we were that wasn't too bad but is still alittle dissapointing. Hopefully we can sort it out by the end of tomorrow by putting a similar total on the board. Not too confident though.

Yesterday was disappointing because, 2nd match between England and India is going to end in a draw and Australia are going to lose in the first test. 192 with one day and seven wickets would be a cakewalk. India is scared of England beating them. That is why they are playing for draw from the start. They took two days to score 450. That is real slow batting.

India is not scared of losing! Rahul dravid is a slow player and even though he took long at least he got some runs and for the Indian team that is very important. Also credit to england for the way they bowled after lunch and for the whole day really. But really its the weather conditions that are getting in the way rather than India playing slow. I think there is still time for a result, espcially if the Indian bowlers get the ball reverse swinging in the first 10 overs like they did against Australia last time.

As for SA I think they have a very good chance of winning. They need another 107 runs with 6 wickets. But it could still go either way IMO

Well, the Australian tail wags once again and they end up on 394 for their first innings total.
Quite repectable, i think. Steyn bowled quite well, took 6 in the end i think.

Anyway, i don't think this test will in any way shape or form be a repeat of the Perth test, and i think Australia will win by about 150 runs.
Danger players for South Africa will definately be: de Villiers, Kallis, and Smith.

Wow can you believe this 399/8 and SA leading. Well Australia's bowling attack doesn't have the firepower to take those 20 wickets anymore. At least against strong oppositions. Siddle bowled well but I mean no point in bowling well if the opposition gets a lead after being 184/7. This will be an interesting match.

The difference between us and South Africa at the moment is:

We have a shitty bowling attack. Yeah Lee got the Allan Border medal last year and Johnson and Siddle have been doing pretty well, but we really miss Stuart Clark. He would make a huge difference in this series. Lee is also not bowling 100 % due to injury and our 12th man Shane Watson is not injured.

Our selectors aren't willing to make necessary changes -

Seriously I know Hayden has been a great servant to the game and all, but when blokes like Michael Klinger and Shaun Marsh are averaging over 100 runs this summer, you're fucking nuts not to give them a try. Same goes with Hussey based on his recent form, although that wicket in the second innings was a load of bullshit.

We need a miracle today just to not lose.

I wouldnt like to see Hayden or Hussey dropped.

Dropping Hussey is ridiculous, against NZ he looked the most able of the Aussie batsmen, he just didnt manage to get any runs. If he has batted poorly against SA then it has lasted 2 matches, which is definitely not worth dropping a guy for. Especially a guy averaging over 60.

Hayden is probably a more likely chance for being dropped but he is a huge part of the success of the Australian team in the past and replacing him is going to be damn hard.. The thing about bad runs is often they are caused by bad luck, like, even at peak form a batsman has a chance of getting out for a low score, and sometimes you get a run of scores like that. And sometimes when you get a run of scores like that you start doing dumb things to fix a problem that isnt there and then you get in trouble. I mean, maybe he actually is losing his eyesight or his reactions are slowing or something, in which case he should be dropped, but with someone like Hayden I think you would really have to be damn certain that that was the case if you were going to drop him. TBH I think he is trying to be over-aggressive to compensate for his bad run, he just needs to cut that out and he will be ok..

But yeah your bowling attack is poor. I dont really rate Johnson but he is getting the results (I am not really sure how). Otherwise you need to make some changes. Also why is Hauritz playing? What happened to Krezja?

Have a nice day.

Oh no! What is happening to Australia? They've failed another match. 267/7 is not a very comfortable position and Ponting was gone for a duck. Australia must bring back Nathan Bracken instead of Peter Siddle. I think there must be better wicketkeepers than Haddin in Australia. Cameron White must be brought back to the Australian side.
