So, here's the team I'm currently creating. It includes some of my favorite pokemon, although I really couldn't include all of them since they aren't really competitive (Charizard/Electabuzz, anyone?)
Metagross:-Meteor mash
-Reflect
-Light screen
-Earthquake
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Clear Body
Ev: 252 Hp 232 Att 28 Spe
Item: Light clay
I figured that I would need a decent lead that can take down something right of the bat and provide my next Pokemon with a free switch-in, so I went with Metagross, a chunk of metal that can set up stealth rock, screens and then explode for the kill. This is obviously weak to taunt, which would cause me to switch out. But i figure that most people want to get a burn of on this thing, so I can set up. Although Bronzong would be logical choice, I got this metagross instead. Why? Because I haven't seen a metagross like this before, it does the job rather well. It can still live Fire blast from Azelf at 70% and from Heatran at full health, so I can explode most of the time, dealing a lot of damage in the process. Light clay is a given as item, as I like my screens to be up for a longer time. I really think this is a cool lead, but I'm open for suggestion with this one, since it is quite unorthodox, and it did fail me sometimes. The only thing that really scares me is Heatran, but my Blastoise is able to switch in, take fire blast/earth power and then kill with Surf. Although, I must admit something. I got the idea for this lead when I battled a guy with a Mewtwo that also carried dual screens, taunt and selfdestruct. So I thought: Hey, Metagross can do better than that! It has both higher defenses and a higher attack AND explosion instead of selfdestruct! Anyway, I thought that that Mewtwo was really cool, and made this Metagross. The extra EV's in speed are to outspeed other Metagross leads, without sacrificing too much power.
Mamoswine:-Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Stealth rock
- Substitute
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Snow Cloak
Ev: 252 attack 252 speed 4 Def
Item: Life orb
Mamoswine. This will kill annoying things like Dragonite and Flygon and absorb electric attacks. Anything that gets hit by that monstrous attack will get hurt. It can also set up stealth rocks, which this team really needs. Because of its Jolly nature and EV investment in speed, it will outspeed a lot of things. Life orb is a given on a stealth rock user like Mamoswine. Ice shard is for the aforementioned dragons/birds, earthquake on anything that resists Ice attacks. I set up a substitute on the switches that Mamoswine obviously will force, giving me the opportunity to severely damage some of his counters.
Blastoise:-Surf/Ice beam
-Toxic
-Rapid Spin
-Protect
Nature: Calm
Ability: Torrent
Ev: 252 Hp 252 Sp Def 4 Def
Item: Leftovers
This is really going to be one pain in the ass. Specially bulky, Toxic staller and Rapid spinner, and Surf to top it of. This Blastoise will be very hard to kill, Either rapid spinning away or getting the toxic on something. Protect to get some leftovers recovery and some more Toxic damage. thanks to its awesome special defense, it will get off a Toxic on most electric types, and will recover some health thanks to protect. Surf is a given as a stab move to get some damage off, although Ice beam would be better to handle pesky dragons. Standard for me is Toxic-protect-rapid spin/surf-protect. I can switch into most neutral special attacks without having to fear too much. I really hate entry hazzards, so I needed a good rapid spinner on the team. I doubted a long time between Blastoise or Tentacruel, but chose the turtle in the end. Not much to be said really, the set speaks for itself. He may be a surprise in an OU team, but I just couldn't resist this bulky turtle. Its moves may become predictable, as this set will give itself away really fast.
Zapdos:-Thunderbolt
-Heat wave
-Roost
-Thunder Wave
Nature: Bold
Ability: Pressure
Ev: 252 Hp 252 Def 4 Spe Def
Item: Leftovers
My main Physical wall. The set speaks for itself. T-wave when I expect a switch, Roost of damage and hit hard with either Heat wave or Thunderbolt. Zapdos naturally has great special attack, so it will hit hard with T-bolt. And thanks to my metagross' Reflect, it will stand its ground against just about everything. However, it does fear Stone edge from Rhyperior or Tyranitar. Especially Rhyperior is a pain, since I don't really have a safe switch-in and I can't T-wave it. But this guy will kill just about every water/electric type and is a perfect counter to Gyarados and Scizor
Tyranitar:-Rock Polish
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake/Fire Blast
-Crunch
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Sand Stream
Ev: 252 Att 252 Spe 4 Hp
Item: Life Orb
Ah, my pride and joy. I really love this Tyranitar. It kills whatever it hits, and I thought by myself: What is more fearsome than a Tyranitar? A fast Tyranitar! But since I don't like locking myself into something, and i find that dragon dancers are still not fast enough, I opted for Rock Polish. And any of his attacks will damage anything with a Life Orb boost (except of course walls like skarmory). I usually use Crunch as my main STAB move, since I really don't like missing with Stone edge. Earthquake is to deal with pesky things like Heatran. Due to the Sandstorm special defense boost, it really doesn't fear Fire blast, and even Earth power isn't all that powerful anymore, so I can set up the Rock Polish and proceed to sweep! I also use this as a switch in against rhyperior, to take a stone edge and switch again to Gliscor to absorb earthquake, providing my Gliscor with the Sand Veil bonus in the process
Gliscor: - Earthquake
- Roost
- Toxic
- U-turn
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Sand Veil
Ev: 252 Hp 40 Def 216 Spe
Item: Leftovers
My Tyranitar's homie. Somewhat of a Defensive wall and thanks to Sand Veil, a lot of people will get extremely annoyed with missed attacks. I roost of damage, toxic some pokemon and U-turn in case I don't like the match up. It will be outsped by other Gliscor, but it's still fast enough to outspeed Lucario, another potential threat to my team. I can also outspeed and OHKO Heatran, since Gliscor is immune to earth power. Now that I think about it, taunt could be useful as wel, but I really wouldn't know what move to remove.
Okay, that's my team, I hope you like it. Please don't start ranting 'ow yr such a noob'. I tried to be a little creative here. I you see a move and you think 'hey, that isn't supposed to go there' then consider that I try to surprise my opponents, instead of reusing the same recipe. Anyway, I hope there isn't too much wrong with it.
