To do the hit / miss stuff properly like teifu...
Hit: Morrow currently #34 drafted #69, Ribeiro currently #67 drafted 117, Jokinen currently #70 drafted 93, Kaberle currently #84 drafted 148, and Antropov currently #88 drafted 165 were all good values. The two additional hits are my free agent pickups of Peverley at #30 (to replace White as the point guzzling Atlanta center I drafted at the end) and Afinogenov at #33 both look like great pickups. Peverley had a slightly lower than a point per game pace last year and is playing on a better team this year, so I can definitely see him continuing at a point per game, and Afinogenov has already proved he can play at a point per game pace before (remember I drafted him last year lol) and as long as he gets power play time with Ilya and plays with any combination of Ilya, Antropov, or Kozlov, he'll keep it up.
Miss: Paul Kariya my god lol. I only drafted him 124 but i totally thought he was an 80-90 point winger this year...whoops. Dion Phaneuf currently #117 drafted 28, Doan currently #99 drafted 52 and Niedermeyer currently #140 drafted 76 are currently looking like bad value picks. Since I drafted Todd White and Ryan Whitney and both are no longer on my team due to drops, I have to include them as misses as well. But I did get Afinogenov for Kariya (and whenever Yahoo gives Doan LW eligibility that position imbalance will become a perfect balance), Peverley for White, and Pavelec for Whitney, so the replacements worked out well.
Expected: Alfredsson, Avery and Lubomir are giving me what I expected.
I left Backstrom and Luongo off the list because one is a notoriously slow starter (Luongo) and the other has a team adapting to a new system (Backstrom). They've each started to give me great ratios and I think the wins will begin to pile up, so I'm not worried at all about their current rankings.
Thoughts: Doan and Morrow are known for having occasional slow streaks, and Doan is at least shooting, so I'm not worried for either (yes, I know Morrow is still in the 30s). I fully expect Luongo and Backstrom to continue giving me great ratios and for the wins to start coming. Niedermeyer has picked it up recently so I'm hoping he continues. My real worry is Phaneuf. He's just...kind of doing nothing. He started off great and then tapered off. He isn't shooting nearly as much as the past few years, taking PIMs as rapidly or even being a general presence on the ice (I watch a lot of Flames' games due to having both Dion and Jokinen).
Excited for: Luongo, Jokinen, Afinogenov, Morrow. Like I said, I think Morrow and Luongo got their slow periods out of the way, so I can expect elite netminder status (always something to be happy for (=) and a LW giving me a 70 point pace with 100+ PIMs. Afinogenov I think will maintain his current pace which is absolutely glorious for me, as I essentially replaced a 120+ pick for a top 40 winger, which is awesome value. Jokinen is what is really making me excited. He finally stopped looking like a fat kid on skates! November has been good to him, and he's picking up points, PIMs, and shots, all of which he was lacking for in October. If Iginla can work his magic and turn Jokinen back into the 90 point pace, 80 PIM, 300 shot monster he was in Florida, I'll be ecstatic that I got him at 93. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I look at my week this week and I see solid stats with no unexpected / out of the ordinary stats from anyone, with my two main "lack of good performances" culprits being Phaneuf and Doan.
I can live with that. Hopefully my team has decided to get past its individual cold streaks and just start giving me what I expect normally from each of these guys. If so I think I easily have a top 3 (if not the best) team in the league, unlike what my #7 ranking would imply.
