The Everything NHL Thread

how in the world of fuck does such an absolutely fucking weak team win bronze? is this a bad joke or something?

and the ref who made us play like 10 minutes straight shorthanded at the end of second/start of third period can go die in a hole

what an awful way to finish an otherwise great tournament

this game doesn´t make any sense

I´ll watch the finals, of course, should be a great game

sorry for being too emotional, the whole thing just has a very bitter feeling...they shouldn´t have let a 3-1 lead go but finish them off instead

I was trying so hard not to comment on the finish thing...

I was rooting for the Slovaks though, pretty bummed :( They were just that close two nights in a row, sad they didn't get it either time :/

Yeah, I was rooting for Slovakia. They just did so much more this tournament. Beating Russia, Sweden, and so close against Canada.

Reminder to those of you who've forgotten about the NHL in the Olympic buzz that the NHL trade deadline is Wednesday. Yahoo fantasy';s is on Thursday, though on Smogon it is like halfway through week one of the playoffs for some reason. A lot of teams were trying to rush deals before the psuedodeadline with the Olympic roster freeze, but we could still see some fun deals in the coming days.

I will have a hard time to care about the NHL's regular season for a bit after some of the games we've seen.

Agreed. Sabres are playing tomorrow night, and it just won't have the same flavor.

Here's hoping I don't pull a complete sharks and bow out in the second round!

I have to say, I'm happy I did as well as I did this year. I got super lucky by getting Bryzgalov in the autodraft, and I made some not so good trades this year (the Malkin deal might bite me in the ass), but I'm overall happy with how I did.

Boring, yeah, but some of the deals could be important.

Washington and Phoenix look like they really want to push far into the playoffs, so it'll be interesting to see if their moves help them or not.

Also, kind of wish playoffs started next week instead of the week after. Spring Break means I've got to preset the rosters, so hopefully I'll still have a bye...

The two deals that stood out were the Whitney/Visnovsky deal, and the Mueller/Wolski deal. I can understand the Whitney deal in some way (they saved like 1.6 mill in cap I think), but Wolski was Colorado's 2nd leader in pts.

Yeah, the Wolski deal really surprised me.

I love what the Sabres did. Dumped our 8th D-man and a pick for Raffi Torres, who brings some much-needed scoring. Also dumped MacArthur to make room.

I was annoyed that the Vish trade only got like one Milbury on puckdaddy because it sure looks like the Ducks stole that one to me, traded an overvalued D who wasn't working out for them to begin with for maybe the most undervalued defensemen in the league. Losing Pronger and WHitney I wonder if the Ducks management is moving in a different direction, though - they seem to be getting a lot less rough and tough with every move they make.

Wolski deal was largely salary related I believe (RFA they don't want to pay with their other young guys), though it's an interesting risk. If Mueller somehow plays to potential that's a nice deal for them, and if not they probably couldn't afford to keep him anyway. Definitely a short-term downgrade though, which is odd for a team that is securing a playoff berth.

Buffalo's trade was my favorite of the day though, traded nothing for a fairly valuable RFA commodity.

5) Jackal - 185
6) Vineon - 184
7) Carl - 183
8) Zerowing - 183

holy shit this is gonna be close. love it.

Also I'd like to point out that since week 6 I have the best record (10-3-2) and that I wish i didnt drop chris stewart.

Why don't we have a Week 22 o_O

Also that last week was rough shit for both leagues. In the smogon one, I dropped from 2nd to 4th, but in my other league, I dropped from 1st to 3rd =/

ahahahha

Sabres on a 3-game winning streak. Miller is still playing out of his head (1st period last night notwithstanding), Torres isn't lighting up the scoresheet yet but he brings awesome energy and compete, and once we learn to score more consistently we'll be dangerous again.
