The Everything NHL Thread

Posting to confirm Justin is NOT full of shit(about this) and actually predicted it. Was so pumped when I noticed the goal scorer. Awesome.

RIP Devils :| That makes me very sad. In other news I am glad the Sharks are getting their shit together. I am discovering I am not a fan of the Sharks so much as Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda, but I love them and with Doc and Chico eliminated they are easily the best commentators remaining. Plus their creepy hotel room post-game internet postgame shows amuse me. Keep fighting the good fight, cuties.

Vaguely debating on trying to get Wings game 6 tickets if they win game 5. Don't think I want to risk going if the lose game 5 - I don't think I could handle an elimination to the Coyotes round 1 live...

Go Sharks! Someone from our top line finally scored (Marleau), Nabakov stepped it up and Pavelski has been great in this series! Let's shake this curse :)!

Chara had better be fucking suspended for game 6. That was absolute bullshit. Also, Mark Recchi and Miro Satan should die in a fire for trying to fight Ryan Miller.

He isn't - the NHL made an announcement quite a while ago that they were exercising their right to negate the auto-suspension.

I'm kinda bummed Rask wasn't on the ice to give us the goalie fight - he wanted to go even from the bench, but Thomas wouldn't let him on the ice because it's an auto-suspension(not that that matters apparently but I guess Timmy plays by the rules) for a benched player to come on the ice during a scrum, too.

If I was Thomas I'd have let him do it so I got to play

Haha, seriously. Miller was asking for it by leaving the crease, but how was he supposed to know there was 0.6 seconds left? Ruff was screaming at him to get out of there, but you know he loved it.

I thought it was a smart move for Rask to stay back. I mean, he's been hot lately, and the Bruins need him to win this series and get onto the next one. If he got suspended, I wouldn't like the chances of the Bruins winning the series.

Speaking of suspensions, Predators be getting jobbed. Not really sure how Hossa didn't get a misconduct on the exact same fucking play that Ovechkin got 5+10+2 games for on Campbell. The Hawks and their people fucking cried and cried in the media about that hit, and their guy gets to come back later in the game after doing the same thing and scores the game winner? Are you fucking kidding me?

When he gets no suspension - instead of the 2 games he should be getting with all things equal - I'm going to be incensed. What a bunch of horseshit that all these should-be suspensions aren't. We all know not to expect much from the Wheel of Justice but why do they even have rules if they aren't going to follow them?

I don't understand why he didn't get a game misconduct along with the major. Someone needs to explain NHL officiating to me, because there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to its inconsistency. Also:

The League has reviewed the incident and rescinded the automatic suspension under Rule 47.22, which states: "the suspension shall be served unless, upon review of the incident, the Director of Hockey Operations, at his discretion, deems the incident is not related to the score, previous incidents in the game or prior games, retaliatory in nature, ‘message sending,' etc."

So Chara gets off too? Not retaliatory??? Not message sending??? This league is a fucking joke.

we all know the NHL is a joke, but the NHL playoffs are the punchline of that joke. It's pathetic. You literally have to take off your skate and stab someone with it to get a suspension in the playoffs.

Just posting to say that Luongo just stoned Smyth hard. How the hell do you make that save.

And the nucks are going to the second round. Well played by the Kings, but in the end, the Canucks were just a better team (plus I thin Quick didn't play well in that game)

Is it just me or does the head coach of the capitals look a like a red M&M when he's angry?

He's not angry here but just imagine him bright red

I pretty much hate most of the teams left. I guess I'll just go for the winner of the Kings/Canucks pairing.
Welcome to the bandwagon =)

I'm pretty happy the Canucks won because I usually just watch the playoffs and greatly look forward to it, but missed most of the first series due to school projects.

If Montreal pulls off an improbable Stanley Cup run, Halak gets Conn Smythe easy. That being said, the odds of even making it past Round 2 (if we beat Washington we get Pittsburgh next -_-) are slim. Oh well, GO MONTREAL!

Ugh. Buffalo sports. We were done in by a power play that didn't score one goal in the entire series, simple as that.

As for Montreal... nice job pissing off their goalie, eh AO?
