I agree 100 fucking million percent. I'll tell anyone who will listen how BORING I find hockey now.

Last night's Bruins-Sabres game was a prime example of how much grabbing is let go these days. Jets-Sabres was the same thing, and the Sabres just don't have the size to win those games when their speed is minimized with interference.

Gonna start off with saying I agree with the rest of your post which is your main point.

But just want to comment on that bolded part. Those 4 might be the only ones with 28+ goals in 09/10, 10/11, and 11/12 AS OF NOW, but plenty of players are on track for 28+ g in 09 / 10, 10/11, and 11/12 by the end:

Iginla (32 / 43 / 27) (iginla as actually had 28 goals every season since 99 lol)
Kovalchuck (41 / 31 / 29) (kovy actually has 28 every season in the nhl)
Marleau (44 / 37 / 27)
B. Ryan (35 / 34 / 25)
Ovechkin (50 / 32 / 27)
Vanek (28 / 32 / 23)
Nash (33 / 32 / 24)
St. Louis (29 / 31 / 22)

I just don't like it when pieces play with stats to try and prove a point. If 28 goals was the base line for the entirety of the past 2 seasons, it should be the baseline for the entirety of this season as well, not justup to the 60 or 65 game mark. Lots more players who have had 28 in the past two seasons will end up with 28 by the end of this one.
 
A big problem with the low scoring is that it works. St Louis, Detroit, and co play an uber boring defensive style, but they win nonetheless, and other teams copy them. Sooner or later, we'll be in dead puck era again, they should just call more penalties next year so the Oilers power play can tear teams a new one :D
 
Fucking flames....................................at least the panthers only got a point. I would hate to be in 9th, I'd rather be last. I guess we'll see how it goes...

detroit is 4th in the league in goals per game just sayin'
 
Detroit definitely doesn't play a trap style. St Louis does, but not in the egregious way NJD did back in the day. It impresses me how defensively responsible their forwards are, but still makes for a boring-as-fuck game. Also, agreed 100% with justin's post. Also really pulling for the Jets to make the playoffs. Watching them play the Canucks, I haven't seen that good of a game in quite a while. The jets play an extremely high tempo game, that I really enjoy. Plus Pavelec was a beauty that night. Also hoping Detroit overtakes St Louis so that Nashville and St Louis have to play each other, so that 1) the Canucks only have to play one of them and 2) gives me only one playoff series to skip, and not two. Two birds with one stone.
 
Since the hawks have just about a 0% to win the Central, I'm hoping they get the 6 seed. I'd take the Pacific division winner over any playoff team from the Central, home ice be damned.
 
Darn Flames. Winnipeg isn't in a too good position right now. Anyways, they'll be facing Washington on Friday March 16th, so it will be a very important match for both teams. Go, Winnipeg!

Dem Troll Wings wait until the last minute until they feel like winning nowadays... Preds gonna shred 'em tonight though.

The whole "you can still get 1 point for a loss" thing probably has something to do with this. The NHL has incentive to keep games close with non-calls to keep more teams involved come playoff time. For example, the Ottawa Senators who have lost 6 more games than the Bruins yet only trail by 3 points in the standings.

I just watched some videos of the old Devils NZTrap, what a boring style that is. Reminds me of why I got so pissed watching the Bruins-Lightning series last year. Trap Dump Chase. Repeat ad nauseum

21-10-4 at home is good enough chances to win with home ice advantage. I'm guessing you just don't understand the context of what we were talking about which would explain why you keep making irrelevant/dumb posts about it.

you also need to give me something here besides this contradiction: Judging by their home record being 4th in the east (very much above the average if you don't like math), they clearly can't both suck and have no "added" intimidation at home because then (obviously) they wouldn't have this home record. So which is it? I mean I know they suck balls and the MTS center has been proclaimed by almost everyone on record as the loudest and most intense arena to play in.

There is utterly no reason why they would do that......they are trying to rebuild and unless they are trading their first overall for an already drafted 18-20 year old budding star then who knows what the fuck are they thinking.....it's just a rumor though right....right.

Imagnie if Yakupov ended up as the 3rd failed Russian with Columbus? I'm sure there are some teams out there that will severely overpay for the draft pick. They can probably get a top 6 forward + a top 10 pick in this years draft at minimum. Look how bad they suck at picking in R1:

They should just start trading all 1st round picks for top 6 forwards every year.
 
Not trying to be a homer or anything, but Edmonton would be the perfect situation for Yakupov. The Oil are rebuilding and have probably the best young offensive core in the NHL, so Yakupov can play sheltered minutes in his first year. However, I'm personally hoping the Oilers get Grigorenko to form a 1-2 punch with RNH, and trade Gagner for a young top 4 dman.
 
Edmonton has way too many prospects atm to get priority in Yakupov over Columbus. Also hoping Montreal can get a decent pick in this years draft and be able to sign Price and Subban. Both of those guys are playing at MTL for cheap. Oh yeah, and Gomez sucks. -,-
