The Everything NHL Thread

a hat trick for each poster boy in the caps/pitts game wooo

crapsby looked relieved when he FINALLY got that last one in!

The determination was nice to see, at least, but he was in the blue for the first two goals and the third one shouldn't have happened because Kunitz should have gotten a major (but the hand eye was nice, at least) and a misconduct, and better be getting suspended. I was actually pretty pleased with Crosby in spite of them all being shit goals, though, I think this is the first game I can remember him really stepping it up from a scoring perspective in the playoffs when his team needed it. Ugly shit, but without him they get blown the fuck out...

There really better be a suspension on that as it was a blatant cross check to the neck where there wasnt any padding or helmet. so

EDIT:
Alex Ovechkin was hoping for more, but Pittsburgh Penguins wing Chris Kunitz will not be suspended by the NHL for his late-game hit to the neck area of Capitals goalie Simeon Varlamov seconds before Sidney Crosby scored his third goal of Game 2 with 30.4 seconds left in the third period.

League officials confirmed that the tape has been reviewed.

Tuesday morning Ovechkin called the play "dirty" and said, "I think the League has to do something about it. It's a cheap shot and it's not good for hockey."

Kunitz left the Penguins' locker room at their Washington County practice facility before the media was allowed in.

"It happened so quick you sometimes don't realize it," Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said. "But if you look at the clip and slow it down, I mean, he's aiming right for the throat."

Ovechkin was hoping for some balance in the wake of Donald Brashear's six-game suspension for his high hit on Rangers center Blair Betts in Game 6 against the New York Rangers.

"It's a cheap shot and Brash got six games but why not Kunitz?" Ovechkin said before word came down that Kunitz would not be suspended. "It's all about being fair. It's a serious problem I think."

Varlamov was not hurt on the play. He did not practice Tuesday and when a reporter from the Washington Post asked him where he got hit, Varlamov reportedly pointed to his the area right behind his ear.

"Can you imagine if he gave (Varlamov) an injury, what are we going to do?" Ovechkin said. "If it's not going to be called it's going to be a terrible decision and I'm going to be (mad) about it."

Typical shit, thanks NHL for allowing the Penguins to do what they want, one more reason for me not to watch this next year....

what a bullshit no goal

what bullshit officiating

detroit didn't do themselves any favors either (anaheim did play some stellar d) in the early going but come on

Yeah I am really really sick of the NHL, officiating, and various other things involved. Officials cannot decide games like that, suspensions need to be more uniform and fairly handed out to all teams, including the Pittsburgh Sidney Crosby's. Just so many things that are making me angry with the league, its officials and everything surrounding it.

Agreed with psycho, the NHL is fucking hideous for favoritism too.

The flames had like an 8-1 penalization ratio in the last 3 games against chicago- well, okay, chicago COULD have been that disciplined...until they met vancouver and were landslided with them. Consistency, please!

Well, I was very sad to hear my team (Phoenix Coyotes) had filled for bankruptcy; I really hope the team doesn't move out of the state, though all signs point to it being likely. I mean, the first few years they were out here, they did fine, even reaching the playoffs a few times. But ever since they hired fucking Gretzky (who is a suck-ass coach) and made a bunch of other dumbass management decisions (such as gutting the team), no wonder they're in the wreck they are in now.

I would be the last person on the planet to cry over the Coyotes moving to another city.

Hockey in the middle of the desert wasn't the brightest of ideas.

I think they have their eyes set on Las Vegas..... *sigh

They wont do Vegas until they try an AHL team there, but I think it would be an ok market. Also I think Gretzky + gutting the team was the best thing to happen to the team.

Add the NHL lying about Phoenix's economic state to Teifu's list of league bullshit.

Where is this list of league bullshit? Also, yeah, seriously though, if Phenoix's economic state wasnt obvious, the only fans were the players' mothers girlfriends and siblings...

I heard that a team in Phoenix wasn't a bad idea, it was just that the arena was built where most of the fans couldn't access it without driving 2 hours (or some shit like that).
