Taking a moment to mock the Blackhawks for losing to a Swiss team

I believe the Panthers did the same, apparently the KHL isn't our biggest rivla after all...

The islanders seem to be making a solid young team and their goalie situation is super competitive making them all play well. I think they will be pretty solid in years to come!

i rearranged the divisions to psychos second suggestion, so it changed who you are playing first week, so take note.

it looks as though each team will play each other team twice, save for one team you will only play once (in my case that is gr33n).

good luck everyone, im ganna win.

Thanks for working that out.

Figured I'd just post to note a couple things since I'm sure not everyone notices the smack-
1. IR is bugged in Drop and Drag right now, so if you need to move anyone to IR switch it to Classic temporarily. I imagine they'll fix this fairly quickly, but it's an issue for anyone who has Hossa/Kessel/Schneider/etc. in any league. The toggle is at the upper right of My Team.
2. I didn't notice before, but public leagues have minimum moves per week this year(fewer than we do, in fact)! This should be a nice kick in the balls for streamers, and I kind of want to blow the yahoo fantasy people for doing this. Totally makes up for the shitty predraft rankings.
3. Shanahan is done it seems :( Nooo :(

I'm not sure it was carl or synre, but one of them said last night 'you don't wake up to see the Avalanche'.

I knew I should have went to sleep early and wake up, 5-2 vs SJ :D

Should be a fun one on Versus(and TSN2 for some of you, I guess) tonight between the Devils and Rangers. The later team especially just looks leaps and bounds better than last year up front, both offensively and defensively, although the back end could stand to help Lundqvist a little more. The Devils will be a little hungrier after getting completely crushed on Saturday, and in general I think this game will be more offensive than you'd expect from a game between Brodeur+Lemaire and Lundqvidst. And while there's no Tavares here, keep an eye on Bergfors(NJ) and Del Zotto(NYR)...

I'm looking forward to the one after that as well because I haven't been able to watch Vancouver yet and I'd like to see what the fuck is going on with that team :(

As a bit of a goalie fanboy I'm very excited about Brodeur, Lundqvist, Luongo, and Mason as the four goalies tonight <3

It'll be great when I can actually catch the last game or maybe both because of exams...never thought I'd be happy to have exams

To everybody with a good RW:

My team is pretty bad. I would be willing to trade Weber + Ryder or Giroux for an upgrade at RW. We could also swap goalies to even out the trade if necessary.

I have 4 RWs needed to be traded. Wheeler, Lupul, Kovalev and Iggy.

Throw me an offer, or I'l throw you an offer later, as I got some mad hw right now.

Edit: I'm not too impressed with Kovalev currently. 0 points, -1 +/-. And he's supposed to be the new offensive corner stone of the senators. Right.

Fantasy note: I'm excited and irritated at once about how much better yahoo has been about updating position eligibility, stuff like Ryan and Bertuzzi with dual wings and Antropov and Briere with C, RW (hi5 Vin I have him in two leagues) would have taken weeks in previous years if they happened at all so it's kind of nice to see, even though I just draft assuming it never gets fixed these days so it kind of backfired on me in that regard. Yahoo is usually slightly less inept that way at the beginning of the season, but hopefully they stay consistent...

In real life news, how crazy has this season been so far? Results are as unpredictable as ever, maybe more so, scoring is pretty respectable, some really dynamic offenses to watch (Washington, Philadelphia, Calgary in spite of the top line being worthless, Los Angeles!?), some bad teams from last year starting out better on the ice and in the record books(Phoenix though I doubt it lasts, Colorado, Ottawa even though they're getting outscored overall)... the year's been exciting and unpredictable so far.

However, it dawned on me none of us really posted predictions yet, and while it's cheating to do them three games into the season, here's my predictions...

President's Trophy San Jose Sharks

Atlantic Winner Philadelphia Flyers
Northeast Winner Boston Bruins
Southeast Winner Washington Capitals

Central Winner Chicago Blackhawks
Northwest Winner Vancouver Canucks (choosing to hold here in spite of seeing 3 games)
Pacific Winner San Jose Sharks

Stanley Cup Finals San Jose Sharks def Philadelphia Flyers

It has to work out for them sooner or later... doesn't it? And for the more fun, basically completely unpredictable playoff ladder

East.
1. Washington Capitals
2. Philadelphia Flyers
3. Boston Bruins
4. Pittsburgh Penguins
5. Atlanta Thrashers !
6. New York Rangers
7. Toronto Maple Leafs
8. New Jersey Devils

Someone other than the division winners and the pacific teams have to get in...

West.
1. San Jose Sharks
2. Chicago Blackhawks
3. Vancouver Canucks
4. Calgary Flames
5. Detroit Red Wings
6. Columbus Blue Jackets
7. Anaheim Ducks
8. Dallas Stars

I'm more worried about this #5 missing the playoffs than the other one - basically anyone in the Central or Pacific could easily make it.

Here are my predictions:

President's Trophy: Philadelphia Flyers

Atlantic Division Winner: Philadelphia Flyers
Northeast Division Winner: Toronto Maple Leafs
Southeast Division Winner: Washington Capitals

Central Division Winner: St.Louis Blues
Northwest Division Winner: Calgary Flames
Pacific Division Winner: San Jose Sharks

Stanley Cup Finals: Philadelphia Flyers def. Chicago Blackhawks

East:
1. Philadelphia Flyers
2. Washington Capitals
3. Toronto Maple Leafs
4. Pittsburgh Penguins
5. New Jersey Devils
6. Atlanta Thrashers
7. Boston Bruins
8. Tampa Bay Lightning

West:
1. San Jose Sharks
2. Calgary Flames
3. St.Louis Blues
4. Detroit Redwings
5. Chicago Blackhawks
6. Vancouver Canucks
7. Columbus Bluejackets
8. Anahiem Ducks

The only real surprises are my Northeast and Central division winners (Leafs and Blues respectively). From what I've seen the Bruins do, I think they're gonna fall off quite a bit. I also think that Toronto has 'easy' problems to fix concerning their blue line (stop pinching!), and Toskala just needs more practice (resting for most of the offseason due to surgery is bound to leave rust). As for the Blues, I really like their offence and overall game. The Red Wings still have the same goalie problem, except they don't have Ty Conklin (who ironically is on the Blues).

Also on a Fantasy note, every LW not named Ovechkin is on the block.

Edit: Or named Bobby Ryan (NT Justin ;))
