The Everything NHL Thread

Everything's happening... Yet, with the cap space and players KH has, you'd think he'd be involved in this everything... *sigh*

Also, Phoenix is dead once again... Hulsizer quit.

It's a good ploy to lure Brad Richards. 3m for Kopecky, just imagine what kind of contract a good player could get!!

methinks the max... But then again, who wants to play for Florida even if they pay you with the world? There's only a none to none chance at Lord Stanley...

Also, Garth Snow fails again.... I have a sinking feeling in my stomach that Kenny's gonna overpay for one german defenseman...

Unless Snow was willing to overpay for Ehrhoff, there was no way he would sign there.

In the shitty UFA market, Ehrhoff, Richards and Kaberle are the three big names. The former two will make bank, while the latter, not so much.

And kind of curious as to how TB hasn't signed Stamkos yet. Going to be interesting if they don't get him to sign by July 1st.

Apparently he was willing to overpay and Erhoff refused anyway. The source I'm reading said that Snow was willing to pay "well north" of the 5-year, $23 million contract that Bieksa got from Vancouver.

We do need a defenseman, though, so I'm a bit sad that we couldn't sign him. Hopefully we can pull some strings to get a veteran in and have deHaan come up to the NHL this year.

Sabres sign Ehrhoff. Montador's rights traded to Chicago (:justin:). Do not resign Connolly or Hecht. Use all that extra cap space to get Richards.

We win.

I think it's unlikely that the Sabres sign Ehrhoff. He seems dead set on testing free agency out and getting a huge pay day.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind at all if the Hawks signed Montador and Connolly.

I kind of wonder if he has something specific in mind since winning in Vancouver and getting overpaid in Long Island both weren't appealing to him.

Montador's movement doesn't really have anything to do with Ehrhoff's signing except for Buffalo maybe being optimistic. Montador's (sadly) a coveted asset as a 4th-5th defenseman and Chicago could really use him. Vancouver has also expressed interest and so has a bunch of other teams. Montador could probably make a decent bit of cash this off season and Buffalo probably knows he wants to test the UFA market.

As popemobile already said, Ehrhoff wants cash and a winning team like Vancouver. Looks like he'll be heading to Detroit. Personally, I think he'd be great with Kronwall, but meh, that's just me.

I know this happened days ago, but on the whole I'm pretty happy with the deal we made to get Burns. While Seto will be missed, I think that DW has a few free agents in mind to fill the void (and even if he doesn't I think we have enough depth internally to cover that loss). What I'd really like is to sign Hejda to something around 2.7 mill and pair him off with Boyle. Murray has made leaps and bounds as a defensive player but imo this would turn one of our biggest weaknesses into one of our strengths. Thinking of a Burns, Vlasic, Boyle and Hejda top 4 has me salivating.

You better hope you get forwards, just one scratch to your top 6 as of now would severely hurt the team. VERY top heavy right now.

Hawks' D situation is shaky enough where we'll probably overpay him just to lock him down.

Keith/Seabrook
Hjalmarsson/Montador
Leddy/Campoli
Scott

Pretty Solid D imo, although a step down from last year because Campbell was our best guy.

Surprised no one has mentioned the retirement of Paul Kariya. He was my favourite player growing up, so it's hard for me to see him retire (even moreso the reason he has to retire).

Man, all this Jagr nonsense got me a little mad... I've never heard anything about resigning Eaves and/or Miller (don't expect him [Miller] back, he's got too much potential to waste away on on the bench, because that's all he might get this season...). Eaves, though, i'll be ticked if he leaves... Hope Ericsson goes somewhere far away, like to the KHL or something...
