as if jesus himself was reading my posts and trying to spite me, they took away Kovie's assist on the first goal, the Kings had more post hits than the Devils had scoring chances in the first, and the Devils hit a Kings player to take a 2-1 lead. Hilarious so far
 
Norfolk's overtime goal should have been refused; a player was in the Marlies' territory when the scoring player shot the puck in and scored -_-

Yeah yeah, I'll give you that that was a bad call, the refs blew that one totally - and didn't even give a though to looking at the replay and possibly overturning it! But still, even if the Marlies had actually won that game (possible but not probably given how impressive Tokarski was), I doubt it's a series changer. I was hoping that we could make it back to Norfolk for game 6 so that I could be at the game and watch them win it, but watching them play over the last 8 games with Tokarski in net - man, this team looked unstoppable.

Funny, I seem to recall the Devils hit a few posts and crossbars and missed a few open looks, in games 1 and 2. Both could've gone either way (both were in OT also), and Game 5 is the same, except NJ had the bounces go their way. Not too sure what your point is, hockey games are sometimes dependent on lucky bounces?
 
GFDI I wanted it to be a game but it's over before I even leave the house to watch it. Six goals and an empty netter over 5 games + 2 OTs + 30 minutes, and any other goal will just be garbage time. I can't believe the Devils even won a game. Quick was good but that was a pretty pathetic series from the NJ offense as I predicted. gg GG

Congrats LA! You played like hell and eliminated two of my least favorite teams in all of sports in the process.

It's pretty clear that you haven't watched any of the games in this series, so I don't know why you'd lie about watching this one.

Pretty disappointing game, I may be wrong but refs really shouldn't be calling 5 minute majors in the biggest game of the year, especially if it's not an obvious call (apparently they had to discuss whether it was 5 minute worthy). Had they called the hit on Gionta that major would have never happened. Bad breaks for the Devils.

Can't discount the Kings play though, they have been superb so there's no way I can fault them. Early congrats to the Kings! (Here's hoping that jynxes them and mounts a Devs comeback)

Also this marks the 3rd year in a row that Vancouver has lost to the cup winner. Is that a good thing??

I get back from work tonight..

My gf: Do you know who won the Stanley Cup tonight?

Me: Apparently the Kings since it was Game 6 and they were the only team available to win it tonight.

My gf: Ugh!

She has this thing with wanting to know some sports info before I do.. so we can discuss it, etc. Didn't really plan out the execution this time around.
 
Just saw Steve Bernier's post-game interview and now feel incredibly bad for him.

(I didn't see what caused the infraction).

He overall had great playoffs, I hope Montréal signs him in the summer!

He drew blood, it was pretty nasty. That definitely set the tone for the rest of the game. I'm amazed when the Kings score one power play goal much less 3.
 
Man... in the context of the game, I'd have given 2 minutes.

Regardless, congratulations are in order for the Kings (although I can't think of a healthier cup winning team in recent memory...) and a pat on the back for the Devils. Also, NixHex's avatar makes up for everything that went wrong this playoffs.
 
Seconding the love for NixHex's avatar. Gotta love a picture taken in Fenway being repurposed for LA, and props again to the Kings for winning that beautiful trophy. Seriously, if you get a chance to go to the parade, GO. It's glorious seeing that Cup glimmer in the sunlight. Plus you can brag because seeing it is a privilege most of the people in this thread won't ever get :P

Too bad when I adopted the original picture, it jynx'd Boston sports. It's getting so bad that I had to change my avatar to try and fix it. We haven't had a championship parade in over one year. So in LA time that means they won't win anything else for another decade if you keep that avatar =[

I'm happy the kings won but it's really too bad that they won like that. As much as we hate complaining about refs....I mean, that was just unfortunate for the devils. Against the flyers they just took the shit that happened to them and played hockey, but this was a little to much for any team to handle.

That being said, it's a little ridiculous to say that the Kings don't deserve the cup in every way. It's just I'm sure everyone wanted a better game 6, even the kings.
 
Kings absolutely deserved it but it was a dreadful series. Seemed like there wasn't a single game where both teams showed up. Two great teams combined for a bad series.

Definitely am going to the parade right now, laptop is fired up and I'm just waiting til they're released for the general public. Unfortunately, my membership created for the season tickets I won for the '10-'11 season don't make me eligible for pre-release.

cool that the kings went apeshit in the playoffs.. you could say they were on a hot streak but whens the last time a hot streak lasted 18 games just in the playoffs alone.

admittedly didnt watch a game of this series, but congrats anyway!
