So as an update(moderator double posting!) on the Jones/Bergeron thing, it looks like Bergeron won't be out more than a week or two, which is less time than Jones will be missing since he only got two games(!?). Not sure I agree with that one...
On a lighter note I got six assists last night, getting me up to 57 in three weeks and a day. If only I could produce in any other category...
Additionally that random I was whining would inevitably light me up this weak can be Martin Lapointe, Vin, i love him so he's allowed to kick my shit in.
In real hockey news my Wings are in the opposite position my fantasy team is, chilling at #1 in the NHL. I mostly like it better when we're flying under the radar but it's good to see us doing relatively well even thought the goaltending is terrible(good work nearly getting us into overtime trying to score a goal, Osgood)... at least Hudler and Fillipula seem to be trying to produce on offense, which should help a lot combined with Samuelson overachieving again this year and Franzen poised to have a good year whenever he gets hurt. There are enough other forwards at this point we can count on in the current top line and the grind line v3.0 that we can throw in a couple grit players in the last two slots(likely some combination of Kopecky, Ellis, and Drake) and be pretty solid I think. The blue line isn't bad either as long as we don't get rocked by injuries the way we did last year (Lidstrom is still the best defensemen in the league, Rafalski fits awesome into our system, Chelios might not be what he was in the 90s but he's still excellent defensively, Lebda is a very solid young guy and Kronwall and Lilja are decent I guess... we have a few other good young(er) guys to fill the mostly unnecessary seventh slot in Quincey(who ended up being decent in the playoffs last year filling in) and that guy who's name is eluding me who played last night.
Still worried about the goaltending, Osgood is playing well but isn't as young as he used to be and as ESPN said, Hasek's body is being held together by his will alone at this point and he's just not as quick as he was in the mid 90s. He's one of the all-time greats but I think his time has passed him by at this point, although if we don't get injuries and he can even get back to the level he was at for most of the playoffs last year it'll be enough for us to have a good run, I think.
Still predicting Carolina over Detroit in 6 in the finals (with my next two picks in either conference being Philly and San Jose(I fully expect Ottawa to win it but I feel that it's more likely they'll do it next year than this year). Lots of other teams with good chances such as the Rangers assuming they get their shit together, Pittsburgh, and really most of the Eastern conference in general... the league more balanced than usual this year which should make things fun, especially the last 15ish games of the season and the playoffs.
As an aside, rooting for the Kings and the Capitals to make the playoffs even though it's not looking terrible good for either of them right now. The Caps have had injury trouble so they are likely going to get better rather than worst (Clark, Semin, Poti is a terrible group of scratches) but man the Kings need some more consistent goaltending... LA is only 1 point off the lead in their division and in a 3 way tie for 7th currently, with the Caps tied for 9th in there conference and one point off a two way tie for 7th. Here's hoping they both squeak in, haha.
