The Everything NHL Thread

a hat trick and a pair of assists today for Lecavalier to take over the NHL scoring lead. He's on the hottest of streak right now and so is my team :D.

And Brett Hull is apparently the new Stars GM. The same Brett Hull that has always been pretty vocal about his dislike for the game and that he only plays it because he is good at it.

Sabres finally play again tonight... against the Sens. This one could hurt.
 
Hull isn't technically the GM, or at least he's only half the GM... they have some silly council system going there(likely to teach Hull the GM ropes). While I won't deny that he is an asshole or that his foot was in the create I mostly enjoy him though, he is a pretty interesting media personality.

Debating on dropping Cheechoo already... while I maintain confidence that he'll end up with Thornton again before the season is over I was really depressed watching him last night, poor ice time and he didn't exactly do a lot with what he had. More on this as it develops !

As an aside in non-fantasy news I am not pleased with Lecavalier(I had to scroll up and check Vin's post to spell that :( ) stealing Zetterberg's points lead, but better him than Crosby, I guess. I am also not pleased with the Wings awesome divisional record of 2-3-1(especially since one of the wins was a shootout)... while that leaves them at a nice 11-1-0 against everyone else, it's not nearly as effective to get points against other teams when they can deprive division rivals of points by beating them, but I suppose this just goes to show how much the Central has improved this year.

The standings are finally starting to look more like I would expect them too finally, although it seems weird to see DM's Sabres chilling tied for last place in the NHL :(. At least Breire and Drury are doing well, with the Rangers now only a point back in that division... I am feeling much less stupid about having expected them to make the conference finals now. I am glad to see the Atlanta Kovalchuks aren't giving up after that abysmal start and are now only a win away from 8th in the conference, although that's still lower than they should be.

Also xocmin is having a terrible week lol
 
Looks like i was right when i predicted two weeks ago, that I would lose against the guy that doesn't play.

7-0 behind atm, i should stop predicting my own future :(
 
haha synre the best part is that he looks down the whole time and reads that off a piece of paper

i wish i played miller against the sens because then i'd be in much better shape on the goalie end of stats

Btw, from reading smogon irc channel I could see there would be a few people interested to play aswell, couldnt we get the league commisioner to let them take over mr-inactive-supergoalie night.

There is one thing that is more embarrassing as losing from a dutchie, and that is losing from someone who doesnt play ;)

he means giving the inactive guy's team to someone that is willing to manage it.

I doubt the league commissioner can do that though.

b) too little interest and it was hard to fill the last spot? not sure on that one though, but I was probably just as random as him in your eyes.

Also as far as the inactive guy(Vampdude34/Dunyain), I have no idea who he is but I didn't know who gr33n was prior to this and no one but Jackal knew rips or I knew xocmin and they are all playing so it's not like everyone else was well known... we can afford to be more selective next year if we sub DM, Jason, and filler in for captain inactive I guess !!

EDIT: Also I forgot to mention, most of my team is still on the trading block if anyone is interested. No one ever actually bothers to accept/decline my trades so I don't think I'm actually going to offer any but if anyone wants to deal for any of my dudes now is the time. I primarily want to trade 2 of my dudes for 1 of other peoples though, I know many people are hesitant to trade when they are not getting the best player in the deal but a lot of teams have sort of iffy depth right now, whereas I have too much depth but am lacking in the superstar department to some extent! The only people who are not for sale are my mascot for the next few days, Kovalchuk and Brodeur(barring trades involving Zetterberg or Lundqivst respectively, haha).
 
how about i just take all your players and give you say a guy i pick up off the waivers..? obviously my game plan for the rest of the week is to try to win all goalies and try for one of the skater stats. goals might be reachable if i get lucky otherwise it's up to pim's or +/-
 
moderately to greatly annoyed that carl tied goals with 32 seconds left on an empty netter in the last game of the week(especially since a third of his other goals were from fucking defensemen) but i have won 3 of my last 4 now so hopefully things will continue looking up


this is probably not going to be one of my better weeks though, i have no one playing in most positions most days unless i juggle my roster a bit and Setoguchi, Langenbrunner, and Clark have this awesome ability to all have games on the same day


as an aside, enjoying that jackal plays rips the same week i play xocmin, haha
 
time to say goodbye to Naslund, what 1 game with a hattrick can bring for me. Finally picked up a decent defenseman (Lidstrom got picked in round 2) for my Naslund (round 8). Tried trading Naslund around for some better defenseman before, but no one accepted this far, so his 4 goal week helped a lot.

Been a good week for me, getting a 7-2-1 added to my already quite decent list, and it's a nice recovery after being owned 4-6 by mr.inactiveguy with his supergoalies.

On a non fantasy note: finally we got a center ice package for europe available, so bought it last saturday. It's about 118.76 dollar (cheer for internet calculations for money) for the season. So it's a bit cheaper than the american version, but they had 1,5 month more worth of hockey so thats a fair trade off i guess.

This week makes it the 3rd week in a row the NHL player of the week is from my team, being Briere after Lecavalier was the 2 weeks before.

I am still high in the stats, I'm not sure how long that is going to last considering jackal, synre & gr33n are all super strong, but so far its really nice to be in that elite mix.

and good luck Carl, we are going to be a fun matchup :)
