The Little Hippo that Did

Yay first warstory! My mommy says I'm a good writer, so I think this will probably turn out alright. If it doesn't, don't flame me. I won't forgive you.

Instead of trying to set up some dramatic mood with two teenage battlers standing in a desolate field, I'll just get straight to the good stuff. This was a Shoddy match between someone I don't know. You could say it's epic, or maybe just some bad plays on my opponent's part (there were definitely a lot on mine), but it certainly is a plot twister. Without further ado, let's start!

Cooper's Team of Never-Changing Pogeys

zexion27's Team of Standard Pogeys that aren't Overused but are still Lame

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
Cooper sent out Suicune (lvl 100 Suicune).
zexion27 sent out Eclipse (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
Eclipse's intimidate cut Suicune's attack!
Suicune is exerting its pressure!
Eclipse used Draco Meteor.
Suicune lost 74% of its health.
Eclipse's special attack was harshly lowered.
Suicune used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Eclipse lost 98% of its health.
Suicune's leftovers restored its health a little!
Suicune restored 6% of its health.

98% only? Lame. This is where my streak of stupidity throughout the match really begins. Thinking I will be able to take another one, I don't make the obvious switch to Heatran.

Eclipse used Draco Meteor.
Suicune lost 32% of its health.
Cooper's Suicune fainted.
Eclipse's special attack was harshly lowered.

6-5 zexion

Yeah, I'm awesome. But here's where things get fun.

Cooper switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
zexion27 switched in Gong (lvl 100 Bronzong).
Hippowdon used Curse.
Hippowdon's speed was lowered.
Hippowdon's attack was raised.
Hippowdon's defence was raised.
The sandstorm rages.

Obi's Hippowdon what? Cursing Hippowdons are the way to go. Sadly my moveset doesn't allow for easy Bronzong removal, and my Hypnosis-taker is now dead, so I try to rely on luck.

Cooper switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Gong used Hypnosis.
Heatran fell asleep!
The sandstorm rages.

That 30% chance of missing doesn't like me much. With Heatran sleeping and unable to use his signature moves, I'm forced to reveal more of my team earlier than I'd like. At this point I know he has one useless switch and a wall that troubles my team greatly. He knows four of my six and should have little trouble with any of them.

Cooper switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Gengar makes ground moves miss with Levitate!
Gong used Earthquake.
Gong's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.
Gengar is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gengar lost 6% of its health.

Typical Bronzong, meet my custom Gengar. It doesn't hurt Bronzongs that much, but if it were a Swampert, I'd totally own it with Energy Ball. So in this situation...

Gengar used Thunderbolt.
Gong lost 37% of its health.
Gengar lost 10% of its health.
Gong used Gyro Ball.
Gengar lost 84% of its health.
Cooper's Gengar fainted.
Gong's Shell Bell restored a little health!
Gong restored 8% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

6-4 zexion

Cool. Normally I think "Noob!" when I see a Shell Bell, but I don't really I'm in a position to judge at the moment.

Cooper switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
zexion27 switched in Slowbro (lvl 100 Slowbro ?).
Garchomp used Flamethrower.
It's not very effective...
Slowbro lost 9% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Slowbro lost 6% of its health.
Slowbro's leftovers restored its health a little!
Slowbro restored 6% of its health.

ChainChomp doesn't really do it for me, so I use Flamethrower. It doesn't work well here. I'm sort of curious as to why he just doesn't use Gyro Ball. Maybe he's expecting me to finally grow a brain? Not today sir.

Cooper switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Slowbro used Ice Beam.
It's not very effective...
Heatran lost 5% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Slowbro lost 6% of its health.
Heatran's leftovers restored its health a little!
Heatran restored 5% of its health.
Slowbro's leftovers restored its health a little!
Slowbro restored 6% of its health.

Heatran is surprisingly good special wall. He can take Surfs lieka champ, and I thought he'd expect such a switch. But I'm not complaining.

Heatran is fast asleep!
Slowbro used Surf.
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 57% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Yay sleep.

Heatran woke up!
Heatran used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Slowbro lost 60% of its health.
Slowbro used Surf.
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 49% of its health.
Cooper's Heatran fainted.

Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Slowbro lost 6% of its health.
Slowbro's leftovers restored its health a little!
Slowbro restored 6% of its health.

6-3 zexion

HP Electric takes a good chunk out of Slowbro, but at a big cost to me. I'm not feeling too good about this battle right now, but keep reading to see something cool. Slowbro no longer scare me, so I bring Chomp back.

Cooper switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
zexion27 switched in Eclipse (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
Eclipse's intimidate cut Garchomp's attack!
Garchomp used Earthquake.
It doesn't affect Eclipse...
The sandstorm rages.
Eclipse is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Eclipse lost 2% of its health.
zexion27's Eclipse fainted.

5-3 zexion

Remember what I said about a useless switch? That was right now. I have a feeling he's expecting a CBer, and that's just fine with me.

zexion27 switched in Kurogane (lvl 100 Weavile ?).
Kurogane is exerting its pressure!
Cooper switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Kurogane used Ice Shard.
It's not very effective...
Lucario lost 23% of its health.
Kurogane lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Kurogane is buffetted by the sandstorm!

Weavile gives me trouble too. It is something my Lucario can't handle, but I still have one trick up my sleeve.

Lucario used Extremespeed.
Kurogane lost 63% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
Kurogane used Brick Break.
It's super effective!
Lucario lost 67% of its health.
Cooper's Lucario fainted.
Kurogane lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Kurogane is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Kurogane lost 6% of its health.

5-2 zexion

Again, I take another big chunk out of something at the cost of a pokemon. You can tell I'm a big fan of revenge-killing.

Cooper switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
zexion27 switched in Gong (lvl 100 Bronzong).
Hippowdon used Slack Off.
The sandstorm rages.

Awesome face-off.

Hippowdon used Ice Fang.
It's not very effective...
Gong lost 7% of its health.
Gong used Hypnosis.
Hippowdon fell asleep!
The sandstorm rages.

Yep, I love it. Ice Fang/Earthquake works really well on a lot of things, but Zong is not one of them. I need my Garchomp for later, so my only choice is to take the Hypnosis. I did make an attempt at freeze haxing though.

Cooper switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
zexion27 switched in Slowbro (lvl 100 Slowbro ?).
The sandstorm rages.
Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Slowbro lost 6% of its health.

Again, I'm not afraid of this guy now.

Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Slowbro lost 6% of its health.
Slowbro's leftovers restored its health a little!
Slowbro restored 6% of its health.

Okay, I'm afraid of it now. Looking at the serebii stats now, I realize I mistook Slowbro for Slowking, and thought an Earthquake would indeed kill it. I was wrong.

Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
Slowbro used Slack Off.
Slowbro restored 49% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Slowbro is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Slowbro lost 6% of its health.
Slowbro's leftovers restored its health a little!

SDing usually happens at a different time when I'm winning. But it still works wonders, and not taking any damage from Slowbro this turn doesn't hurt.

Garchomp used Earthquake.
Slowbro lost 65% of its health.
Slowbro used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Garchomp lost 46% of its health.
The Yache Berry weakened Ice Beam's power!

Remember kids, no one can stop a Yache Berry. Earthquake is finally doing the damage I'd like it to, though a little late.

Garchomp used Earthquake.
Slowbro lost 35% of its health.
zexion27's Slowbro fainted.

Yay. Now Weavile kills me.

I wasn't too confident. I'm still not. Let's see: I'm up against a giant bell that I can't hurt and two mystery pokemon. Wonderful.

Cooper switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
zexion27 switched in Shaolan (lvl 100 Jolteon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!

Shaolan lost 25% of its health.
Shaolan made a substitute!
Hippowdon is fast asleep!
The sandstorm rages.
Shaolan is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Shaolan lost 6% of its health.

Now just one mystery pokemon. Frankly zexion should've gone for the kill, but I guess he felt he should play it safe with a sub. Or maybe he just wanted to win without losing another pokemon? Whatever.

Shaolan used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
Hippowdon lost 31% of its health.
Hippowdon is fast asleep!
The sandstorm rages.
Shaolan is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Shaolan lost 6% of its health.
Hippowdon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Hippowdon restored 6% of its health.

Sweet, I love taking damage and not waking up. But I'm sure that didn't hurt as much as he thought it would. My Hippo is Sassy with 252 Sp. Def EVs, so a weak HP from something like Jolteon doesn't scare me. At least not while I'm awake....

Shaolan used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!

I'm SO glad I didn't Earthquake here. Somehow I manage to wake up, survive a CH, and still get a Slack Off out. I still don't think I stand a chance, but at least I'm still alive.

Shaolan used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!

Know that the next 10~ish turns were filled with nothing. All Jolteon did was hide behind it's Sub and hit me with Hidden Power. It eventually got a Petaya boost. I got two Curses in and managed to stay at 100%. Jolteon died because of Sandstorm.

3-1 zexion

zexion27 switched in Gong (lvl 100 Bronzong).
Hippowdon used Curse.
Hippowdon's speed was lowered.
Hippowdon's attack was raised.
Hippowdon's defence was raised.
Gong used Hypnosis.
Hippowdon fell asleep!
The sandstorm rages.

Again with my great Hypnosis luck. I'm wondering how exactly I'm still faster than Bronzong with my speed halved. I know it's the slowest pokemon, but Hippowdon's no speed champ either. I'm not complaining however.

Gong used Explosion.
Hippowdon lost 32% of its health.
zexion27's Gong fainted.
Gong's Shell Bell restored a little health!
Hippowdon is fast asleep!
The sandstorm rages.
Hippowdon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Hippowdon restored 6% of its health.

2-1 zexion

Hah! Even with a huge defense drop, I take that Explosion like a champ! I may be getting a small confidence boost at this point, but I still don't know his last pokemon. If it's anything with a Surf, I'm pretty screwed.

zexion27 switched in Heracross (lvl 100 Heracross ?).
Heracross used Close Combat.
Hippowdon lost 20% of its health.
Heracross's defence was lowered.
Heracross's special defence was lowered.

Hippowdon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Hippowdon restored 6% of its health.

With three Curses, there's nothing else he can really do. I'm still pretty terrified of being asleep, because if I stay that way for too long, even his pitiful damage will take me out.

Heracross used Close Combat.
Hippowdon lost 21% of its health.
Heracross's defence was lowered.

Saftey. But now it ends. Earthquake would most likely kill him with all those defense drops, but it doesn't even occur to me.

Heracross used Close Combat.
Hippowdon lost 19% of its health.
Heracross's defence was lowered.
Heracross's special defence was lowered.

Cooper wins!
Cooper: Wow.
Cooper: GG
zexion27: gg

Wow indeed.

Props:
  • Garchomp and his Yache Berry for taking out his best special sweeper
  • Hippowdon for just being awesome
  • Suicune hurt Salamence a lot

Slops:
  • I played terribly. That's never fun
  • Half my team did nothing.

Like I said, this is my first warstory, so please don't hate. I know I didn't play well, but I thought you might find such a wonderful comeback entertaining. I also want to promote Special Hippowdon, because no one expects him. Comments? Suggestions? Thanks for reading!

Don't insult your opponent.

Cool. Normally I think "Noob!" when I see a Shell Bell, but I don't really I'm in a position to judge at the moment.

This makes you look really bad.
Overall, I didn't like this warstory much. Both of you made a lot of mistakes and wasted some pokemon.

Why did he blow up Bronzong instead of stalling you completely out with it, then sacrificing his other two pokemon when you're forced to use Struggle for the recoil KO?

Not a very great warstory. Too many mistakes on your part.

1 thing, how did you get from losing 1-2 to winning 1-0?

Hera + Weavile (iirc) vs. Hippo.
You KO'd Cross so its 1-1, what ever happened to Weavile?

4-2 zexion

Yay. Now Weavile kills me.

Hippowdon can survive a Bronong's Explosion easily. With 2/3 Curses, it's no wonder it did such piddly damage.

Explodong Bronzong on a Hippowdon is usually a pretty dumb move.

Your move on the 2nd turn boggled my mind. You could have switched to Heatran or even Hippo to Slack Off the 2nd Meteor as you know he has no Orb.

Gogo Hippo!?

Nice game, I enjoyed the team you was using.

The little hippo that ,masturbated to the RNG Gods with Hypnosis by banging them for free should be the title :(

Why did he blow up Bronzong instead of stalling you completely out with it, then sacrificing his other two pokemon when you're forced to use Struggle for the recoil KO?
Actually, The way thing were going, I would've won if he had done that. With six Curses, even something like Ice Fang will do significant damage to Bronzong.

Yeah, Weazile dies to Sandstorm and Life Orb the turn it killed Garchomp. It took me a while to figure this out when I was writing the warstory. Also, I said from the start that this wasn't my best match. However, I was looking for the writing practice and it was a comeback story. Hopefully my next one will be better received....
