The name thread (where you do not necessarily have to give your name)

I can tell you that it's the same name as a Lady Gaga song and I want to scream for every joke related to the song aimed at me

The same name as my good friend. He can relate, the same thing happened to him in 5th grade when the song came out.

Anyways, I like my name. The JTD part of my username comes from my initials.

First name is Jack. Sounds nice, but since my voice is really deep, sometimes people hear "Chuck" if I tell them what my name is. lol. Last name is from my Portuguese descent, although I'm a mutt of everything European, ethnically speaking. I pronounce it in an English way since the spelling is English, but people tend to say it in the Portuguese way, and then they assume I'm Mexican or something. And there's literally no soul on this earth whiter than me.

I have a lot of positive memories associated with my name. It's always been referred to in a manner of uniqueness and greatness, save for when my folks used to yell it out. When considering it's a 'misspelled' (as in, not what my father intended) variant of a common Biblical name, it may actually fit me better than I even realize.

Plus, I'm a Pokemon. That, too, might be fate.

My real name is Eric, and I kind of like it. My dad (whose name is Rick) wanted to name me after him, but my mom was like no we're not having a son named Rick that's such an old man name, so they settled on E-rick essentially. I haven't met a lot of Eric's so I like that it's a bit uncommon, but the fact that it can be so easily adapted to ErDick makes me wish I could change it sometimes. That's literally all my neighbors call me.

My first name is 75% vowels :| It's fine, providing I never have to interact with anyone in or from another country.

I bet they get mispronounced a lot when going abroad, though :( Yesterday I had a call with a customer service guy from Pakistan, he actually got it right (definitely googled it beforehand) but then another lady called and pronounced my name "Ee...on...oh...dinog...*mumble*", which was just so off I couldn't NOT correct her ;_; I'm calling my firstborn son Bob! He will never have to deal with this kind of nonsense!

My first name is Tousif, originally meant to be the Arabic name Tauseef, my middle name (and my preferred one) is Shaian which is actually based on a Kurdish name Shayan, and my last name is Hafiz which is also Arabic. The reason for the misspellings is because when my birth certificate was printed, they wrote 'em down wrong. A lot of people are confused by the fact that, despite my parents being from India and Bangladesh, my names are from the middle east, but it's a pretty cool look at the history of the region with the spread of Islam through the historical silkroad, which is how my parents ancestors ended up living near the Himalayas.

As for the meaning of the names, Tauseef as far as I'm aware means to praise or to be praised based on the context it's used, though according to this site it means "statement glimmer quality" which might just be better. Shayan means worthy or deserving and is also gender-neutral which works so well since people who can't pronounce it always call me Shay! As for what Hafiz means, it refers to a Muslim who has memorized the Quran by heart which is not something I can do, though I was formerly pretty good at Arabic and have read the Quran in the original language but I haven't read / written / or spoken the language in years having left the religion and most of it is just a memory now.

My name is Donkwon, my white dad wanted me named Donald and my black mom wanted me DarKonwon

I'm Ian, having a short name that people know how to spell is pretty great! My mother has a weird French-Gaelic name that nobody can pronounce or spell first try, so she was determined to give her kids an easier time.

Camden Town is pretty cool until you realise that it is literally a shithole outside of that amazing Bang Bang Chicken that is sold there

"Hi, my name is David, and I've been an addict (to competitive pokemon) for two years"
"Hi David"
Despite how disgustingly common the name David is supposed to be, I rarely meet anyone else named David anymore, which is kinda weird.
Edit:
Hah, y'all are suckers, I have two first names. And the best part is they are the same name...twice.
wouldn't wish the name keith on anybody. p much unanimously considered a terrible name, and for good reason—it sounds retarded.
So your name is "Keith-Keith"?

Well my first and last names are pretty generic (my first name is Thomas and my last name is just a pretty basic white person last name (no it's not smith)) but my middle name is Camp which is pretty dope

Yes, Camp

As in summer

I love it

I like my name, it's a really common masculine given name so people don't usually get it wrong or forget it, which is nice. But I absolutely hate my surname and avoid telling it to people as much as I possibly can. It just sounds so weird—mind you, an ugly kind of weird—to the point it's been 19 years and it still hasn't grown on me at all. So yeah.

My name is David Jones. That's basic as fuck and it bothers me all the time. My middle name makes me feel unique though, so I feel a bit better (it's Han Byul, which means "one star" in Korean).

And yes, "Davy Jones Locker" gets brought up often.

Graham Name Meaning
Scottish and English: habitational name from Grantham in Lincolnshire, recorded in Domesday Book as Graham"

So yeah my name is Graham. To be honest I don't personally like my forename but it's made me unique. I always get multiple comments on my name, more commonly that its an "old age" name. When really when I'll grow old the name will suit those comments.

I prefer my middle name which is Anthony and I have considered getting my forename and middle name switched so I would be Anthony Graham but I don't think it would fit, that, and if I were called Anthony I think I would be the superior ant anto antemortem and I can't take that title away n_n

people joke about josh being a fake name sometimes but it actually is lol. my birth name is Hurricane. i don't ever go by it though, because... inclement weather and names aren't supposed to mix. i was overdue by ages and my mom had to have a c section so i guess this is her revenge ? im not as sensitive as a lot of ppl on smogon seem to be but i mean when people ask ur name and u say Hurricane they assume ur lying or giggle from my experience and id rather not have to waste time forcing a fake laugh and pretending that the same bad "joke" is funny the thousandth time.

e: i went by hurricane up until high school but my new gf at the time went by something other than her birth name because her parents walked out on her and it left bad memories. she convinced me to "change" mine. i didn't care enough before that. sadly that's not even the biggest way she changed me, but oh well, she brought me happiness so it was worth it.

Strangely enough I have also considered using Anthony as my first name (it being one of THREE middle names I could choose from) since an inordinate number of people appear to struggle with my relatively simple Irish forename.

I'm not down for posting my real name in a public part of the forums, but my surname can be translated to "Little Raven". Believe it or not, I learned this after having used screen names containing "Raven" for a couple of years. I wasn't compensating for anything with "TheMightyRaven". Honest!!!
