This weeks winner is KidMagic's Special Lure Tyranitar, congratz on entering the Hall of Fame!

The Pokemon for Week 9 is Celebi!

This Time Traveling Pokemon is standardly used a setup user and then Baton Passing into a Sweeper/Wallbreaker. Because of this we need some new innovation to make this cute fairy into a monster threat. Celebi is also commonly known as "Onion"...

Celebi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Psychic
- Earth Power / Hidden Power [Fire]
- Healing Wish

Choice scarf Celebi is surprisingly effective due to its surprise value, base 100 is high speed for a scarfer allowing her to revenge key threats such as +1 M-Gyarados, M-Lopunny, scarf Heatran, etc., and making her an effective late game cleaner once dark or flying types have been removed. Fast healing wish also brings great support to revive a weakened threat. Timid over modest outspeeds scarf Lando, scarf kyurem, Seismitoad in rain, +1 adamant M-sharpedo and speed tie with +1 jolly CharX, if these are not issues modest can be used for additional power.

Celebi @ Expert Belt / Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm / Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Earth Power / Hidden Power [Fire]
- Recover / Hidden Power [Fire]

Not entirely sure this qualifies since it's not totally out-there, but it's not on the analysis anymore so w/e. This set serves as a lure to a bunch of stuff such as Heatran, Venusaur, Bisharp, Heatran, as well as Scizor and Ferrothorn if carrying HP Fire. Also holds a decent amount of defensive utility lik the ability to check Fighting- and Water- types like Lopunny, Keldeo, and Azumarill, making it a decent glue on offenseive teams weak to these particular threats

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]

subseed celebi is extremely unexpected. hp fire hits grass types. max spe is best, as it can pull off subseed best, an alternative spread to live keldeo's scald is possible but i think it is inferior.

Swords Dance + 3 attacks Celebi

Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Zen Headbutt
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance

General idea: Celebi is always considered as a special attacker but nobody remembers that the only Dark-type attack it has is Sucker Punch, a useful move when you have a base 100 Spe which is a place where you outspeed defensive stuff while being outsped by offensive pokemons, to finish weakened stuff surprising your opponent. The set is simple: Life Orb + one boosting move + 3 attacks (with the dual STABs to rectify their middling base power). Natural Cure is a nice ability to get rid of burn. Albeit not too shabby, Seed Bomb is less useful than Giga Drain because this set really miss the recovery of the latter move that's why you need the Thunder Wave support.

EVs spread: max Atk + max Spe with a Jolly nature to boost its attack and speed to decent levels. I choose Spe over Atk because we have Swords Dance, otherwise go for an Adamant nature.

Team(mates) support: speed control in terms of Thunder Wave is really appreciated due to the fact Celebi loves not being outsped due to its glaring 7 weaknesses (the reason your opponent is always prepared to deal with this pixie) and loves extra turns of set-up.

Specs Celebi

Celebi @ Choice Specs
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Earth Power
- Trick
- Leaf Storm

This hit and run set takes advantage of Celebi's decent offensive movepool to transform it into a powerful Choice attacker. The EV spread is standard for an attacker, and the choice of Modest or Timid if you want power or more speed, but Modest is leagues better. Psychic is STAB and it smacks things like Amoonguss and Mega Venusaur who usually switches in for free. Earth Power slams Heatran and other threats that resist it's STABs like Bisharp. Leaf Storm hit insanely hard with Specs. It manages to 2HKO Latios with prior damage and cuts through Mega Sableye and other common Walls or Tanks.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Celebi Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Latios: 134-158 (44.8 - 52.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Celebi Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Mega Sableye: 207-244 (68 - 80.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Celebi Psychic vs. 132 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Tornadus-T: 147-174 (44.2 - 52.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Celebi Psychic vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Mega Altaria: 177-208 (50.1 - 58.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Celebi Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Metagross: 248-294 (82.3 - 97.6%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 36 HP / 252 SpA / 220 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psychic
- Nasty Plot

This Celebi can easily lure Mega-Scizor/Ferrothorn/Skarmory/Forretress(lol) and can create some setup oppurtinities for our Fairy pokemons like Mega-Alataria or Clefable that have free road for settup and win, I use this speed because with 220 Spe Celebi reach 319 and it can outspeed 252+ Kyurem-B
There's some calcs:

+2 252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Skarmory: 257-304 (76.9 - 91%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 218-260 (61.9 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 239-286 (69.6 - 83.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 84 Atk Technician Mega Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 36 HP / 0 Def Celebi: 195-231 (55.7 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(bullet can't ohko)
252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Venusaur: 273-322 (75 - 88.4%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Celebi Psychic vs. 252 HP / 240+ SpD Mega Venusaur: 408-484 (112 - 132.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Assault Vest Celebi
Celebi @ Assault Vest
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- U-turn
- Psychic
- Earth Power / Hidden Power Fire / Dazzling Gleam

Celebi has pretty much all of the traits of a good Assault Vest user. It's bulky, has a form of recovery in Giga Drain, isn't too vulnerable to status thanks to Natural Cure, has a utility move in U-turn and has enough offensive presence to not be considered too passive. The Sp. Def boost allows it to check Pokemon like Mega Venusaur, Thundurus, Keldeo, Mega Gardevoir, Serperior, Raikou and Rotom-W pretty well.

Giga Drain is the only mandatory move on the set really. The rest of the coverage can be targeted towards the team's needs and even Charge Beam can fit on there to make Celebi a win con of sorts against certain teams. If the team needs a check to Venu and Thundurus though, be sure to keep Psychic.

Sample Team:
Celebi @ Assault Vest
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- U-turn
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam

Magneton @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Tail

Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Secret Sword

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 60 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost

Talonflame @ Sky Plate
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Roost

AV Celebi supports SubCM Keldeo on this team primarily since it beats most of its checks like Slowbro, Mega Venu, Alakazam, Raikou, Thundurus, Lati twins, etc. It also helps Talonflame a bit by checking electric types.

Colbur Celebi

Celebi @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Recover
- U-turn / Earth Power

The aim of this set is to lure and OHKO Bisharp and Weavile after minimal prior damage. While Earth Power can 2HKO it, this can lead to problems when you can't afford to lose Celebi and Bisharp isn't in KO range. However, this isn't a problem with this set, provided that Celebi is reasonably healthy. HP Fighting allows you to KO Bisharp and Weavile in 1 hit (the former 50% of the time after rocks) and Colbur means that you take their Knock Offs with ease. Earth Power allows you to hit Tran while U-turn allows you to net momentum, taking advantage of Colbur to not be KOed by stuff like Bandzor's Pursuit. It also nets an OHKO on Hoopa-U, taking advantage of Colbur to take its Dark Pulse or Hyperspace Fury with ease. The EVs outpace jolly Bisharp, forcing it to Sucker Punch into your Colbur or not get a hit off at all.
  • 252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Colbur Berry Celebi: 175-207 (43.3 - 51.2%) -- 3.1% chance to 2HKO
  • 252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Colbur Berry Celebi: 153-183 (37.8 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Hoopa Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 84 SpD Colbur Berry Celebi: 191-226 (47.2 - 55.9%) -- 77.7% chance to 2HKO

Dual Screens + Baton Pass Celebi

Celebi @ Light Clay/ Mental Herb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def/ 252 Spe
Timid Nature
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Baton Pass
-Giga Drain/ Recover/ Calm Mind

Celebi makes a niche for itself as a bulky screens setter that has access to recovery. The way this set works is simple: come in, set up screens, and baton pass to something that benefits from screens support. The last moveslot depends on whether or not the team can handle Taunt users, as any Celebi not running Giga Drain is complete Taunt bait. Celebi can circumvent this issue by holding a Mental Herb, but this reduces the longevity of the screens. If Taunt isn't a problem, Celebi can use Recover to allow itself to set up screens multiple times, or pass Calm Mind boosts. This works well with many HO teams, especially those that lack something to switch into attacks.

Future Sight Celebi

Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Future Sight
- Recover
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Earth Power

So Future Sight from LO Celebi does force in switch ins like dark/steel types/ whatever the feel dat resists a LO Future Sight. It makes the opponent to sacrifice momentum just to make sure they none of their mons besides the resists and immunities get hit from psychic. HP Fire Does beat the steel types that wanna stay in like ferrothorn, skarmory, scizor, etc. Earth Power however defeats Heatran which pretty shits on celebi. And then Giga is on there for a stab.

Offensive Support

Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power Fire / Earth Power
- Recover / Rest

Tinkerbell is actually a classic from back in DPPt, but the premise of how it works is still the same. Despite being an offensive set, Celebi is still fairly bulky with just HP investments, so it still can go ahead and do its normal job of checking stuff like Keldeo, while spreading paralysis around the world. Modest Life Orb Leaf Storm makes for a powerful nuke, heavily denting just about every neutral target and OHKOs most targets that are immune to Thunder Wave, bar Thundurus-I and TankChomp which are 2HKOed after SR. After it grabs a kill with Leaf Storm, Thunder Wave goes a long way to make sure whatever switches in doesn't go ahead and set up on it.

HP Fire and Earth Power make for great coverage options, with the former taking care of Scizor and Ferrothorn, and the latter getting rid of CM Raikou, Heatran and Bisharp, which are common switch-ins to Celebi, thinking that they can get free set-up. The immediate power present in a Life Orb set also means Celebi is capable of beating most Pursuit trapper after SR damage, esp if it gets a TWave on the switch-in; Weavile and Ttar by Leaf Storm, Bisharp and Mega Metagross by EP, Scizor and Bisharp by HP Fire.

HP EVs leave Celebi with 399 HP, which rounds down LO recoil; 20 Spe outspeed Adamant Bisharp. Since the nature of Leaf Storm means Celebi would tend to switch out a bit more, Rest also becomes a possible option over Recover.
