Oh hi! I came up with the idea… the wish to create a stall team after all my attempts to create offensive teams failed. I don’t quite understand how to setup as an offensive team and stall teams just looked much easier to play, since all of your pokemons can take a hit. This is my first RMT AND post.
One of the big problems sometimes about this team is how it struggles on the last pokemon, especially if toxic spikes aren’t up for some reason or because it’s flying (and isn’t poisoned). That usually happened if Jirachi failed or if most of my team is wiped.
Let's have a quick look at the pokemons I'm using!
Hippowdon @ leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 162 Def
Nature: Impish
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Roar
This guy is just great. He may be weak to some leads like Azelf / Aerodactyl, but switching is pretty easy with this team and Sandstorm is useful to have right off the bat. Otherwise it’s just SR and the hippo can take a few hits and hit back for quite a lot on non-immune opponents.
Dusknoir @ leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Nature: Bold
- Taunt
- Pain Split
- Thunderpunch
- Will-o-wisp
I used to use Rotom-H as a rapid spin blocker, but it was far too fragile. I think Dusknoir fits more on my team. He obviously gets a free switch on a rapid spinner and can hit them back. I prefer thunderpunch since I have nobody on my team that has a resistance to water attacks, so it makes it easier to deal with these.
Forretress @ leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Atk / 144 Def
Nature: Relaxed
- Protect
- Explosion
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
His role is pretty obvious and he’s pretty damn good at it. I previously used Tentacruel as a RS / Tspiker, but I just didn’t like its weaknesses to ground and electric. Protect is to scout for a fire move or other bad stuff and sometimes enough to regain enough hp via leftovers for explosion.
Skarmory @ leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 152 Def / 8 SpD
Nature: Calm?
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Drill Peck
He’s my only way to “counter” the big physical threaths with his useful resistances to most physical types and great defense. He’s pretty easy to switch in on any none special attacker and his main job is to Whirlwind away threats for another shot at SR/spikes.
Blissey @ leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Nature: Bold
- Aromatherapy
- Flamethrower (or should I use Ice beam?)
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
I guess I don’t really have to sell Blissey to you guys. I wanted someone on my team to be a cleric and she was probably the best choice, because I can’t allow most of my team to be hit by status ailments. Flamethrower has proved to be very useful and probably surprising, taking down Scizor a few times. I’m wondering if I should use Ice beam to better counter dragon threats such as Flygon and Salamence?
Jirachi @ leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 48 Spe / 104 SpD
Nature: Bold
- Wish
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
My favourite. At first, I just wanted a wish user because Blissey can’t have aromatherapy + wish. I used Umbreon, but its limited offensive capabilities took him out of the list. I just needed someone to be able to do something against flyers. Jirachi is pretty easy to switch in and setup. It has proven a very good late game sweeper. If the opponent doesn’t have a dark type or fast revenge killer with earthquake or some physical fire attack, he’s likely going to get swept. Even if he switches to a dark type, At least Jirachi can provide some good support by using Wish and then switching out.
I guess Vaporeon could do pretty much the same Job, but it doesn’t have the same useful resistances and bulkiness.
Threat List / potential (or real) problems :
Gyarados :
He's a meanie flyer, which means he only takes SR damage. Only Dusknoir would be able to 0HKO it and Will-o-wisp helps I guess. Most of the time, I switch into Skarmory while he uses Dragon Dance so I can whirlwind. Next time he comes out, he takes another SR and hopefully I can handle him better at 50% hp.
Salamence :
To what teams isn't he a threat? I handle him the same way as Gyarados, only I can't switch Hippowdon easy if Salamence uses Outrage right away, I'm likely to lose my hippo. SR damage and Psychic from Jirachi was always how I handled it. Strangely enough, I haven't been swept by Salamence even though it poses a great threat every time I see it popped. Sometimes, I took care of it by exploding Forretress on a revenge kill.
Suicune/Vaporeon :
I can't roar these guys since they would simply kill my hippo, so I have to WW them if the set up with calm minds + sub. I have nothing that resists water. Now, I know I could use Tentacruel as a rapid spinner + toxic spiker instead of Forretress, but I already tried Tentacruel and I have enough Earthquake weakness on my team. If they don't or didn't setup, I can usually handle them good enough with Jirachi. Taunt could work too if Dusknoir can take a surf or two.
Breloom :
Spore + Subpunch is annoying. Worst thing is I can't wake my pokemon up with Blissey or else I take a 2x focus punch. I usually WW/Roar this guy or try to handle it with Skarmory if one of my dude is asleep. Drill Peck is usually enough to get the sub and, as you know, Skarmory can take a hit or two.
Lucario :
Sure, he’s a pretty good switch on Blissey and most of my team struggles against it. If it is using a choice item, Dusknoir is an obvious switch and Lucario shouldn’t be a problem. If not, then the hippo is my biggest hope, since Lucario is frail and would probably die from one earthquake while Hippo can probably resist a close combat.
Trick/Taunt :
Not a pokemon, but two moves which really cripples my team. I tried the best I could to solve that problem by adding taunt to Dusknoir, but I don't know how effective it is. The fact is that I haven't been taunted/tricked a lot, but theses things effectively render one of my pokemon useless. The best thing I can do, if I can't taunt with Dusknoir is take a trick or taunt on Hippowdon or Jirachi, since they both, at least, have a good attack.
I haven’t seen or had difficulties with other threats. I haven’t seen a single Heracross, for example, though toxic spikes would boost it quite a little and he could become a problem.
Thanks for reading me. I have tested this team quite a few times but I'm pretty sure it can be much better. I appreciate every advice.
I guess I didn't write too much, but I'll gladly answer any questions you might have.

Now why, did I choose these?
