also, I dunno how many have experienced this, but if you're facing certain death and manage to somehow survive unscratched, it changes you. for the next few minutes of your life, everything is suddenly beautiful. you take notice of simple things you overlooked before, like the greenness of the grass or blueness of the ocean. my friend was giving me a ride in his airplane and I experienced this, so I had the added benefit of having a view of the entire world when it happened. never before had I felt so alive. nothing compares to it.
