Villa's a joke, out of europe because they wanted to focus on the league.... And now they are out the Champions league race, because they couldn't keep a 2 goal lead against Stoke (ROFL)

I would rather ask how many ManU players will get into Liverpool or Chelsea XI? Ronaldo, Giggs, maybe Berbatov? That's all. Only these three are really great players of ManU. Others are over-rated. Ronaldo doesn't play well in crucial matches while Gerrard and Lampard play well anytime, any place, anywhere.

Jesus christ taxie, you don't even know much about football. Stop making a fool of yourself here. You are saying Giggs and Berbatov would get into Liverpool's team when we have Torres and Alonso/Gerrard in the roles both play for United (Giggs is playing CM this season)? More like, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rooney, Tevez would get into Liverpool's team in a heartbeat (maybe not Tevez if Rooney is there but he is still better than our N'Gog and Babel). United have undoubtedly got a superior squad with players like Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Tevez/Berbatov, Evans, Brown/Neville on the bench. Whereas, if our first team struggles to break down a team, we have to bring on players like N'Gog (too young and inexperienced; great potential though), Lucas (read N'Gog), Babel (the only player that might get into United's bench as well), Benayoun, Dossena etc.

(ps taxie - fat frank is fat)

Liverpool definitely have a brilliant first team with a great tactician but no one can expect 11 players to last all season. To think that Hargreaves (equivalent of our Alonso/Masceranho imo) has been out for the season for United and yet they are aiming for a quintuple just proves how good their squad is. We were better than United ON THE DAY and I would undoubtedly be rubbing it in to Havak (who really is a towel despite what he says) all season.

Oh btw, Havak, remember what I told you? Go support Man City; no one will notice you breaking your loyalty; you are from Manchester anyway! We couldnt do the double over them.

-------------

And yeah, REAL MADRID GOT DESTROYED. I won a good 20 bucks on the day as I was the only one predicting a Liverpool win with a goal margin of at least 2. xD!

erm... no. Man Utd has the strongest squad in the league, can't dispute this. How many of the liverpool squad would get into Man Utd XI? Torres, Gerrard is probably it, maybe carragher.

Well, no one can disagree with that but Carragher has no chance of getting into the United squad lol. Alonso and Masceranho, however, are probably going to be in it. I rate Alonso better than Carrick and Masceranho slightly better than Hargreaves. IMO, and stressing a bit more IN MY OPINION (don't kill me please), if you want to form the best squad from the two teams it would be like this:

....................... Reina ......................
Arbeloa.......Vidic..........Ferdinand...Evra
..........Masceranho..........Hargreaves.....
........................Gerrard......................
Rooney...............Torres.............Ronaldo

Subs: VDS, Carragher, Alonso, Brown, Park, Tevez, Berbatov

Hargreaves/Masc could be substituted for Alonso for some more attacking mentality and better passing.
(fuck i couldn't put Kuyt ;__;)

Champions League Quarter-Finals draw tomorrow?

Teams

Arsenal
Barcelona
Bayern Munich
Chelsea
Liverpool
Manchester United
Porto
Villareal

I'd imagine every team there wants to draw Porto, as they're arguably the weakest side left in the competition. No one would mind drawing Villareal either (except maybe Manchester United since we'd be in for another two 0-0 draws...).

Arsenal, despite them being the weakest of the English sides, have a really good chance in this competition. They'll want to avoid the English sides as long as possible, but since they're used to playing them they might have a chance at nicking a win also. The good thing for Arsenal is that they can expect to have almost a full squad finally back for the first time in a while and their form isn't too bad either. They'll definitely want Porto or Villareal (whom I'd expect them to beat comfertably), though I'd want to see them play Barcelona or Bayern Munich, as they might be the only sides capable of 'out-footballing' them on current form (except for perhaps Man Utd but the sleak passing and finishing has been missing in recent weeks). Arsenal's game will hopefully be exciting if they draw a good attacking side though.

Barcelona are still joint favourites with Manchester United, with good reason. Despite a slight dip in form (much like Man Utd) they're still a quality side and can beat anyone in Europe. Whoever gets them is in for a tough game, but I think the English sides have a good chance of out-defending them and nicking goals if they can take their chances. English sides are well organised and I think are the only sides capable of beating Barcelona over two legs in Europe.

Bayern Munich are somewhat of a dark horse in this competition, but their 12-1 demolition of Sporting Lisbon cannot be ignored, even if Sporting are a bit of a poor side in general. They're quite well organised overall, but I think they'll have to rely on scoring more goals than their opponents (a bit like Arsenal) rather than being able to close out a lead for a victory. Whether they can do that is to be seen.

Chelsea look to be almost impossible to actually 'beat' again under Hiddink, I've always said they're quite possibly the hardest team to knock out in a two-legged affair, but we'll see what happens. I think whoever beats Cheslsea (if they don't make the final again) will most likely win it on away goals or penalties (with John Terry missing one xD).

Liverpool. Nobody wants Liverpool in the Champions League. They'll toast Porto, Villareal and probably Bayern Munich with little effort. So thats 3/7 of the draw in their favour completely. Man Utd will want revenge, but I think everyone wants this game to happen later in the tournament (if it happens at all). Chelsea and Bayern Munich can beat them if Liverpool don't get the luck, Arsenal have a shot too but it'll be hard.

Manchester United are joint favourites. Slight dip in form recently but hopefully it's a wake up call, we'll see how they bounce back against Fulham and Aston Villa in the next few weeks. Man Utd won't really fear anyone, but at the same time they'll be hoping for Porto like everyone else.

I'm not going to comment much on Porto and Villareal, they're not getting to the next round unless they draw eachother in this round (which would be a massive disappointment to everyone who isn't a fan of those teams).

Any predictions? I really hope the English teams avoid eachother for as long as possible.

You know Havak, we will probably beat Barcelona, Bayern but might struggle against Porto. We always struggle against teams that "park the bus" and I am hoping we draw Bayern Munich tbh.

Hope you draw Chelsea though. Wouldn't mind either of them going out. As bad as it might sound I hate Chel$ea almost as much as I hate United.

But yes, I'd also want the english teams to avoid each other for now.

I actually meant 'Chelsea and Barcelona', not 'Chelsea and Bayern' in that part, typed the wrong team for some reason.. ._.

So this is it

Unfortunately, i see 3 premier league teams advancing, Villarreal could be a surprise don't underestimate them, but Porto has few chances.

Chelsea might be winning against Liverpool (i don't really know which of them i want to advance), and Barcelona beating Bayern Munich, i have my doubts with Bayern because Sporting was such a poor rival and i can't tell if they have chances against Barça.

Your thoughts? :)

Villarreal v Arsenal
United v Porto
Liverpool v Chelsea
Barca v Munich

Arsenal v United
Liverpool v Barca

United v Liverpool

you have to say, if liverpool win this year, we thoroughly deserved it. We had arguably the worst group with a very formidable Atletico Madrid side and a very good Marseille one. PSV has always been considered decent in Europe. In the last 16, we faced Real Madrid; now we face Chelsea. It sure isn't getting easier for us.

Oh and fuck you united.

I think it will be like this:

Villareal vs Arsenal
United vs Porto
Liverpool vs Chelsea
Barça vs Munich

Barça is easily the best team on the world this days, and Liverpool is very close to them, but i can bet that Chelsea will give a surprise just because they are awesome.
Arsenal is my favorite team, and if they already did a final, why not again!?
United is a good team, but they need to be beware of Porto, Porto is a great and underrated team.

I think we'll easily overcome Porto but I'm not looking forward to playing those cheating bastards. I'm still pissed off from that obvious Scholes goal disallowed and Howard messing up only for Mourinho to start running down the touchline.

Villarreal v Arsenal
United v Porto
Liverpool v Chelsea

I think Bayern Munchen will win the Champions Leaque. The way they swept Sporting Lissabon with 5-0, 7-1 was really impressive and they have a great team.

Bayern will make a good chance at winning if they can avoid injuries and if they can play with Klose/Toni.
Their midfield is also awesome with Ribery/Van Bommel/Ze Roberto/Schweinsteiger.

Bayern got almost the worst opponents possible :(
anyways we just have to be the best 3 teams on this planet to win this shit =D

Fulham, mighty Fulham. 2-0 at Old Trafford. Get in. Chelsea lost too and if we can beat Villa, it will round off a pretty good week. The only downside is drawing Chelsea then eith Bayern or Barca.

Villarreal v Arsenal
United v Porto
Liverpool v Chelsea
Barca v Munich

Arsenal v United
Liverpool
v Barca

United v Liverpool

the way things are going for manchester united, porto might just be more of a challenge than they expected, especially in the great shape porto is at the moment

Manu 1-liverpool 4
manu 0-fulham 2
liverpool are only 4 points behind manure..only 4 points.this could get intresting if manu keeps up there losing streak lol.which is what they are good for.

PUT ON YOUR REDS,THE TIME HAS COME FOR LIVERPOOL DOMINATION!!!!

Villarreal v Arsenal
United v Porto
Liverpool v Chelsea
Barca v Munich

United v Arsenal
Barca v Liverpool

Barca v Arsenal

is what im hoping for!
------

Liverpool seem to be destroying teams left right and centre, another bad result from United and there will be trouble.

I love Ferguson, what a comedian. In the Sunday Times he claimed that Manchester United were the better team in their 4-1 loss at Liverpool and apparently he has disputed Paul Scholes' red card!

Anyway, 5-0 to the reds.

MAN U ARE SHAKING IN THEIR BOOTS.

I believe Liverpool are a mere 1 point out of the top spot these days, so it would seem as if United's small lapse in concentration may cost them the title.

sadly the international break would hurt us badly, i think. United would be back with two weeks' mental rest from Premier League and i can't see them slipping after that. Always a pessimist. : (

Agreed. The fact of the matter is, it comes down to who is better on the day. i hope to see both sides in top form because it would certainly prove to be a fantastic match of football, but as a Liverpool supporter i'm a bit afraid of United's potential.

I hope Liverpool dont win ANYTHING this season. Chelsea have the advantage in the CL since they are playing home in 2nd leg. So this should end up like last season. Too bad theres no Risse to score an own goal again, maybe Carragher this time XD.

YOU'RE SO DAMN HILARIOUS XD

I have little interest in the national sides and how each of them fair in the World Cup Qualifiers. Internationally, football bores me.

I couldn't have hand-picked the quarter-final draw any better myself. Although no game is a given, our path to the finals has seemingly become more believably achievable after the draw.

Porto are opposition I expect us to win comfortably. Yes, it is by no means a guaranteed victory; theoretically, however, we should make it to the semi-finals without too much worry.

Speaking of which, Arsenal / Villareal would be an adversary with a credible possibility of knocking us out of the Champions League in the semi-finals. Our strength in depth should help us overcome either of the two, and pound-for-pound, we have the better squad than either of the two.

Then, comes the final in Rome. You would think Barcelona would be there; come May, though, a lot of time will have passed and anything could have occured in between those months. For the sake of keeping my prediction simple, I'll put my money on the Catalans to be there in Rome. There, I expect Barcelona to defeat us, with a sense of redemption from our semi-final meeting last season in the competition.

I'm looking forward to what the Champions League holds this season; it should be an epic climax as all Europeon giants intend to win the trophy.

Notice how I fail to coment on the Premier League status. xd
