Bulu only 3HKOes, and Kart 4HKOes, while Cele's Heavy Slam can OHKO Bulu after rocks, and Flamethrower always OHKOes Kart. Cele hates being Knock Off'd, though.

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Not going to do one huge write-up on this, so I'll be brief. Switches in to all but Stone Edge from Bulk and crits and Knock Off from Kartana and OHKOs with Flamethrower. What is convenient is that it can shut down Water-type partners like to both like Tapu Fini using Solar Beam, and Heatran, which is also seen with it using Focus Blast. Be careful and you should be fine.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 156 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Leech Seed
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power Fire

Due to its typing Mega Venusaur is able to switch pretty comfortably in any Attack Tapu Bulu goes for, Sludge Bomb here is mega Venusaurs secondary STAB,
which hits Tapu Bulu 4x super effectively KOing it in the process.
Kartana is completely neutralized by Mega Venusaur as it resists Kartana's primary STAB in Leaf Blade and takes very little damage from Smart Strike.
The other moves don't do much to Mega Venu either and it can easily OHKO Kartana with HP Fire.

Calcs:
248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 88 Def Venusaur-Mega: 139-164 (38.2 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 248 HP / 88 Def Venusaur-Mega: 83-98 (22.8 - 26.9%) -- possible 5HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
0 SpA Venusaur-Mega Sludge Bomb vs. 84 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 480-568 (158.9 - 188%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. 248 HP / 88 Def Venusaur-Mega: 115-136 (31.6 - 37.4%) -- 88.1% chance to 3HKO

252 Atk Kartana Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 78-92 (23.4 - 27.6%) -- 75.4% chance to 4HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 123-145 (36.9 - 43.5%) -- ~ 80% chance to 4HKO
Skarmory is a hard counter to both. Moreover, he really likes the postZygarde metagame because he gets a real immunity ground now.

Volcarona @ Buginium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 Spe OR 252 Spa / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower / Fire blast / Firey Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Roost / Hidden Power Ground

This thing will easily switch in on everything Kartana has to throw at it and only has to worry about Bulu's stone edge, getting fairly easy setup especially if you get a flame body burn. It can then proceed to OHKO these two with a +1 or +2 fire STAB.

AV Amoonguss

Amoonguss @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Stomping Tantrum
- Hidden Power Fire

While often outclassed by bulky grasses like Bulu, Ferro, & Tang, Amoonguss is excellent at breaking and walling this core. It's able to OHKO both members of this core with Sludge Bomb and HP Fire respectively, and the only thing that remotely threatens Amoonguss is a Stone edge from Bulu, which has just over a 50% chance to 2HKO.

Calcs V.S.
:
248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 96 Def Amoonguss: 211-249 (48.8 - 57.6%) -- 53.1% chance to 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 96 Def Amoonguss in Grassy Terrain: 142-167 (32.8 - 38.6%) -- 5.2% chance to 3HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
0 SpA Amoonguss Sludge Bomb vs. 84 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 352-420 (116.5 - 139%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Calcs V.S.

Phys def tang can easily cripple this core with the amount of coverage it has in it's arsenal. Knock off cripples both Bulu & Kart removing their items. HP Fire kills Kart and dents Bulu p well, you just need to be weary of Megahorn.

Latias-Mega @ Latiasite
Timid Nature
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Hidden Power Ground
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam
- Roost

Not ur go to check but it can definitely handle them, especially when rocks arent on the field.
(HP ground also helps it to check Heatran.
Also beats nonscarf Lando and can roost on scarf Landos U-turn)

Kartana calcs
252 Atk Kartana Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 156-184 (42.8 - 50.5%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 126-148 (34.6 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Kartana Leaf Blade vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega in Grassy Terrain: 120-142 (32.9 - 39%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Latias-Mega Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 208-245 (80 - 94.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Lati usually doesnt get 2HKO'd and can roost off the damage even from Knock Off, also threatens it back with either T-Wave or Ice Beam
If rocks are up Lati just doesnt switch into Knock Off. If the scarf is gone, Lati outspeeds it

Bulu Calcs

248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega in Grassy Terrain: 128-151 (35.1 - 41.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega in Grassy Terrain: 206-243 (56.5 - 66.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO - Bulu takes 22.5-26.5 recoil damage

0 SpA Latias-Mega Ice Beam vs. 84 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 180-214 (59.6 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

w/o terrain
248+ Atk Choice Band Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 137-162 (37.6 - 44.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Lati can switch in on Wood Hammer and can roost until either terrain ends or it can KO Bulu after 2 (or 3) rounds of recoil
If Bulu gets the max roll twice Lati ends up at 17% or 5% after rocks while Bulu is at 60% without rocks or 48% when rocks are up
Lati does not take a banded Megahorn however

Edit. Corrected and added some stuff

: Calm Mind Tapu Koko is an interesting pick that has somewhat picked up again.
YEET

Anyway, someone ended up doing Y but as it turns out X shits on this core from a mile above too. After Zygarde left the building this beautiful Dragon Dancer got a decent amount better and if it's able to come in safely it unleashes unspeakable horrors upon this core:

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature ( However, Adamant guarantees an OHKO on offensive Tran variants without any prior damage under Grassy Terrain)
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake
- Roost

Scarf Kartana cannot 2HKO Mega Zard X from full HP with Sacred Sword, and it cannot OHKO a Mega Zard X after its base form has taken a single turn of Stealth Rock damage although you don't want to switch in on it. You can opt to invest into a little extra bulk at the cost of some Speed if you so desire (you want to hit 608 at +2 so you outpace any Hawlucha that invests enough to speed creep +2 Jolly Excadrill, at the bare minimum), giving it many opportunities on the defensive end to set up a Dragon Dance or potentially even two. Offensively, I'll let the calcs speak for themselves, as this thing hurts like a bastard and it needs no further introduction:

252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Flare Blitz vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 808-952 (310.7 - 366.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Bulu: 452-534 (160.8 - 190%) -- guaranteed OHKO

It needs no prior damage on either to absolutely wreck house. If it gets a free turn, something is going to fucking die.

Unless the Heatran you're probably going to be pairing with this core is running Air Balloon for some ungodly reason it cannot switch in either for it will be 2HKOed, even if it's running significant bulk.

252 Atk Charizard-Mega-X Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran in Grassy Terrain: 204-244 (52.8 - 63.2%) -- 78.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery

Any free turn given to Zard X allows it to set up a Dragon Dance. This gives it a better shot at OHKOing offensively-oriented Heatran variants and lets it overkill Bulu and Kartana by even more ludicrous amounts. In theory it can even get to +2 against Kartana, in which case it's basically GG right there without a Toxapex.

Greninja (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
EVs: 176 Atk / 80 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Ice Beam
- U-turn
- Spikes

Scarf Protean Gren outspeeds and OHKOs both members of the core, but it can't switch into either, so it functions as a bit of a revenge killer that neither member of the core can switch into at all.

Highlights

Threat of the Round:

: I rate Amoonguss very highly in this meta, and the fact that it can completely wall this core is one of the many reasons why.

Additional Notes:

None, good job everyone!

Round 52 Core: Ash-Greninja + Tornadus-T

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Spikes

Tornadus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 88 HP / 160 SpA / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- U-turn / Taunt
- Defog

  • Ash-Greninja + Tornadus-T is a simple core that has been pretty popular for a while. Ash-Greninja struggles to handle bulky Grass-types, which Tornadus-T takes advantage of.
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Ash-Greninja + Tornadus-T. Everyone have a good day!

Tapu Koko @ Electrium Z / Leftovers
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 20 HP / 252 SpA / 20 SpD / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn

Outspeeds (unless Gren has transformed, but if you have a solid Water resist alongside Koko it shouldn't be able to do that easily) and OHKOes both with Thunderbolt. It also has defensive merit against both - consistently switches into Tornadus and can take a Dark Pulse from pre-transformation Gren comfortably (again should be paired with a solid Water-resist so it shouldn't be able to transform easily).

Reserve AV Magearna

160721

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 248 HP / 224 SpD / 36 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Volt Switch
- Fleur Cannon
- Ice Beam
- Iron Head

Due to Magearnas amazing dual typing in Steel/Fairy, Tornadus-Therian has trouble to break it as Magearnas steel typing resists Torn-Ts Flying type and Magearnas typing and coverage options in Ice Beam allows it to force Torn-T out plus Magearna always has the option to Volt-Switch out to a faster threat, which in return can deal with Torn-T.
Assault Vest Magearna can also take on Specs Ash-Greninja pretty well because it not only resists Greninjas Dark pulse but also can OHKO it with Fleur Cannon and due to its AV it is able to tank any move which Ash-Greninja goes for.
Note: Even after Magearna's Assault vest is knocked off by Torn, Magearna's natural bulk allows it to survive Knock Off + Supersonic Skystrike + Specs Hydro Pump after a round of Stealth Rocks.

Calcs:
0 SpA Magearna Volt Switch vs. 88 HP / 8 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 136-162 (42.3 - 50.4%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 88 HP / 8 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 190-225 (59.1 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Magearna Ice Beam vs. 88 HP / 8 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 176-208 (54.8 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 36-42 (9.9 - 11.5%) -- possible 9HKO
0- Atk Tornadus-Therian Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 28-33 (7.7 - 9%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0- Atk Tornadus-Therian U-turn vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 10-12 (2.7 - 3.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 60-71 (16.5 - 19.5%) -- possible 6HKO
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Magearna: 90-106 (24.7 - 29.2%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO

0 SpA Magearna Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja-Ash: 286-338 (100.3 - 118.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 135-160 (37.1 - 44%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 49-58 (13.4 - 15.9%) -- possible 7HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Water Shuriken (20 BP) (3 hits) vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 75-93 (20.6 - 25.6%) -- approx. 0.1% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Magearna: 204-240 (56.1 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Water Shuriken (20 BP) (3 hits) vs. 248 HP / 224+ SpD Magearna: 111-135 (30.5 - 37.1%) -- approx. 65.5% chance to 3HKO

Rotom-Wash

Calm Nature
Item: Iapappa Berry
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Defog
- Thunder Wave/ Will-O-Wisp

Rotom checks Torn and can Volt Switch on it/ cripple Torn or the switchin, however it doesnt appreciate to get Knocked Off.
From full it can take up to 3 Dark Pulses (before battlebond) but it should really be paired up with smth that takes Dark Pulse better since it might get 2HKO'd after rocks if the berry doesnt activate.
It can also Defog if Gren decides to lock it into Spikes.
Its more of an emergency check for Gren but it works if really needed

Torn Calcs:
160 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 89-105 (29.3 - 34.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0- Atk Tornadus-Therian Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 60-71 (19.8 - 23.4%) -- 25.4% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 88 HP / 8 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 170-204 (52.9 - 63.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Gren Calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 118-141 (38.9 - 46.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 81-96 (26.7 - 31.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 159-187 (52.4 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 204+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 108-128 (35.6 - 42.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 210-248 (73.6 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

If Gren is in its BattleBond form Rotom cant really switch into Dark Pulse tho

Ability: Regenerator

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 124-147 (40.7 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery
160 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 84-99 (27.6 - 32.5%) -- 62.5% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery
160 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 141-166 (46.3 - 54.6%) -- 6.6% chance to 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
Toxapex can stall Tornadus easily and with full HP, he can stall Greninja too. However, after previous damage, Toxapex doesn't like the Dark Pulse spam, so you need a hazards removal and a Dark resist, like Clefable or Chansey.

MGyara freely switches on Ash-Gren thanks to its typing & solid bulk (though free switch's better), sets up and OHKOes both chipped (after rocks, for example) Ash-Gren and Torn with EQ and Crunch / Ice Fang, respectively. MGyara also can set up one DD on Torn given that it gets brought on the field via free switch.

Mega-Mawile has a very nice double type with a simple dark and flying resistance. Thanks to its double type, it can pivot on Dark Pulse from Ash-Greninja and Hurricane from Tornadus-T for pressure then the defensive / volturn core with SD or its good coverage. Also, it can force Ash-Greninja to lock on Hydro Pump. Mega-Mawile is an offensive soft check at these threats.

Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Ice Beam
- U-turn
- Spikes

Scarf Protean Gren outspeeds and OHKOs both members of the core after rocks with Ice Beam for Torn and U-turn for Gren respectively. Obviously it can't switch into Torn, but it does function as a sort of one-time check to Greninja, being able to switch into any one move and threaten to OHKO it with U-turn, it's especially potent vs this core because Torn lacks Rocky Helmet, meaning that its U-turns can't really be punished.
