Throwback

Throwback
Articuno has always been one of my favorite pokemon so I decided I wanted to make a team that would allow it to shine. Unfortunately thats no easy task as she needs a lot of support to be viable. After I decided that I wanted to use her I thought why not make the whole team Gen. 1 pokemon, so here we have it a team of veterans that have been around from the beginning.

EVs 248 HP, 252 SpeD, 8 Spd

Ice Beam
Roost
Roar
Toxic

I love this pokemon, seriously how cool does it look? Unfortunately she is really hard to use due to her 4x weakness to Stealth Rocks. Once Wartortle has gotten rid of them though she can come in and Toxic the opposing wall and stall them out with Roost or phaze them out with Roar and Toxic something else. Ice Beam is for STAB and hits decently hard.

Wartortle
Rapid Spin Support
Nature: Calm
Item: Evolite
Ability: Torrent
EVs 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 SpeD
Moves
Rapid Spin
Foresight
Scald
Yawn

This little guy is alot bulkier than I expected him to be. He is also absolutely essential to this team due to Articuno and Flareon's weakness to Stealth Rocks. Scald gets STAB and that burn rate never hurt anyone besides the other team. If the other team has a spin blocker I can usually predict the switch and Foresight them on the switch and Rapid Spin away the other teams hazards. Yawn is extremely helpful at causing switches and racking up damage from my own Stealth Rocks.

Flareon
Wish Support / Cleric
Nature: Calm
Item:Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs 252 HP, 4 Def, 252 SpeD
Moves
Lava Plume
Wish
Protect
Heal Bell

This girl is so important to this team. Status can ruin a lot of my team but she fixes that problem with Heal Bell. Wish allows gives my team some much needed longevity. Flamethrower gets STAB and I usually bring her in on a fire type attack aimed at Exeggutor.

Exeggutor
Special Attacker
Nature: Modest
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs 132 HP, 252 SAtck, 124 Spd
Moves
Leaf Storm
Psychic
Sleep Powder
Hidden Power Ice

He hits like a truck! Leaf Storm is the go to move, it usually can KO anything in one or two hits even after the Special Attack drop. Sleep Powder is usually unexpected and misleading and let's me put a would be counter to sleep for a little bit. Hidden Power good really use a different type considering I have Articuno for Ice Type moves.

Tauros
Physical Attacker / Revenge Killer
Nature: Jolly
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs 4 HP, 252 Atck, 252 Spd
Moves
Rock Climb
Rockslide
Earthquake
Zen Headbutt

Hits hard and hits fast! Sheer Force and Life Orb are a match made in heaven for this guy. Rock Climb combined with STAB, Life Orb, and Sheer Force is nothing to mess with. Earthquake doesn't get a boost from Sheer Force but it provides good coverage.

Golem
Physical Wall / Stealth Rocks User
Nature: Adamant
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spd
Moves
Stealth Rocks
Sucker Punch
Earthquake
Rock Blast

My answer to Swellow. This guy can reliably get Rocks up due to it's ability Sturdy. With 252 EVs in Speed it can outspeed most defensive pokemon and hit hard with STAB Earthquake. Rock Blast is really helpful for breaking through substitutes and getting rid of Swellow. Sucker Punch is nice priority to get rid of some speedier threats.

Hi! Nice Gen 1 team, I really love Articuno (one of my favorite legendaries second/third only to the L@ti twins). That being said, this team has a major weakness to Sawk, who can 1-2HKO everything on your team except Exeggutor (who can still be 3HKOed with Scarfed CC after hazards). Magmortar with Earthquake is also a threat, since Tauros can't switch in safely. Absol is also a definite threat, and Sucker Punch can still beat a weakened Tauros.

While I would love to tell you that you should add in a physical wall like Weezing or Tangela (both Gen 1 Pokes as well!), I'm not too sure who should be replaced. Tangela may be the best best, since it has great bulk, preserves your FWG core, and hits decently hard for a wall as well. Perhaps the offensive Tangela in the analysis would be more to your liking? It would patch up your physical weaknesses well enough.

Next, I would change Flamethrower on Flareon to Lava Plume. The extra damage is not worth losing the chance to spread more burn in a physically dominated metagame. Another change would be to remove either Yawn or Foresight on Wartortle and replace it with Haze. You have no way to stop set-up sweepers, and either move can deal with Ghosts. So losing one of them won't hurt you too much. I would say replace Yawn since you already have a Sleep move in your Grass-type. Finally, I would recommend giving Tauros a Choice Scarf so that it can be your revenge killer. Otherwise you are easily revenge killed by faster threats like Swellow, Scarfed Sawk, Magmortar, Rotom-A, Braviary, etc. Hope I helped!

...Oh, and expand your descriptions, or at least include your natures! :)
