NU Togedemaru [QC: 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

Status
Not open for further replies.

[OVERVIEW]

Togedemaru finds a solid place in NU thanks to its unique type combination that allows it to be a reliable answer to a number of Pokemon in the tier, such as Vanilluxe, Vivillon, Vikavolt, Alolan Exeggutor, Whimsicott, and Comfey. It differentiates itself from other Steel-type Pokemon in the tier thanks to Wish, giving it longevity other Steel-types like Silvally-Steel, Steelix, and Klinklang lack. Togedemaru can also act as a great pivot with a nice Speed tier that allows it to outspeed most defensive Pokemon with little Speed investment. However, its low natural bulk makes it difficult to switch in, even on resisted hits. Even after investing into its defenses, it often falls short of consistently checking better special attackers in the tier like Vanilluxe.

Moves
========

Wish allows Togedemaru to regain health itself or pass a decent-sized amount of recovery to a teammate. Spiky Shield allows it to safely recover health with Wish, force foes to take residual damage when they use a contact move, and scout for moves from Choice-locked Pokemon like Passimian and Braviary. U-turn lets Togedemaru pivot against Pokemon such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Palossand that would otherwise put up entry hazards, utilize it as setup bait, or threaten to OHKO it. Super Fang lets Togedemaru significantly wear down Rhydon, Steelix, and Seismitoad, all of which lack recovery. The last slot is dedicated to dealing with Water- and Flying-types like Vaporeon, Slowking, Vivillon, and Braviary through Zing Zap, while Iron Head is an option to deal with Fairy-types like Diancie, Whimsicott, and Comfey.

Set Details
========

52 Speed EVs allow Togedemaru to outspeed Jolly Incineroar so Togedemaru can pivot on it with U-turn. The remaining EVs are used to maximize its HP and Special Defense, improving its ability to take hits from special attackers such as Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, Comfey, and Vikavolt. Leftovers is used to further enhance Togedemaru's ability to take damage and recover back up from it. It also synergizes with the additional safe turns provided by Spiky Shield. Lightning Rod gives Togedemaru an immunity to Electric-type attacks, most notably preventing pivoting from Volt Switch users such as Rotom, Heliolisk, and Vikavolt.

Usage Tips
========

Because of Togedemaru's low bulk, it has to watch out for additional coverage moves like Focus Blast from Heliolisk as well as super effective Hidden Power variants from Vanilluxe and Comfey. The majority of the time it will be pivoting around with U-turn against any of its answers or passing a Wish if a teammate is worn down. Spiky Shield ensures Togedemaru will get its Wish recovery on the second turn and helps bridge its weakness to additional coverage moves and Z-Moves. It also gives Togedemaru a way of punishing physical attackers like Passimian and Medicham when they are trying to use Close Combat, U-turn, or High Jump Kick. Utilize Zing Zap or Iron Head when in a comfortable position against frail special attackers like Vivillon.

Team Options
========

Primarily used on more defensive teams because of its lack of damage output, this set can provide an appreciated wall against a wide variety of Pokemon such as Vanilluxe, Vikavolt, and Comfey, as well as take on defensive walls like Slowbro and Cryogonal. Physically defensive walls like Vileplume, Slowbro, Blastoise, and Torterra can reliably deal with Ground-type Pokemon such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Torterra, which are major concerns for Togedemaru. Xatu deserves a special mention, as it pivots against the majority of Ground-type Pokemon that Togedemaru can't deal with and it provides one of the most appreciated utilities in preventing entry hazards and status spreading. Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Rhydon, Diancie, and Hariyama that help deal with Incineroar and Magmortar are also highly appreciated. Furthermore Fighting-type answers in Slowbro, Vileplume, Palossand, and Golbat help overcome the wide array of Fighting-types in the tier. Ground-type Pokemon like Palossand and Torterra as well as Water-type Pokemon such as Slowbro and Blastoise appreciate Togedemaru's ability to deal with Vanilluxe and Vikavolt. Lastly, it can pair with common stall staples in Pyukumuku and Audino, even forming a Wish passing core with the latter.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Choice Scarf set can also be utilized with Zing Zap, Iron Head, U-turn, and Super Fang or Toxic, allowing Togedemaru to make use of its high Speed and useful offensive typing to pivot with. However, Togedemaru lacks a great Attack stat and high-Base Power STAB moves, meaning it can't revenge kill as many Pokemon as Choice Scarf Heliolisk. Toxic can be used to deal with more durable physical walls such as Palossand, Seismitoad, Quagsire, and Torterra, all of which can only be damaged by Super Fang. Nuzzle, while a good way to spread paralysis, limits the rest of Togedemaru's moves too much to warrant using it over the recommended options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Steelix, Quagsire, Seismitoad, Palossand, Torterra, and Rhydon care little for Togedemaru's attacks and are able to put up entry hazards, set up with Curse or Swords Dance, or OHKO Togedemaru with Earthquake or Earth Power.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Incineroar and Magmortar can OHKO Togedemaru with a super effective STAB move, while Incineroar can also utilize Togedemaru's lack of damage output to set up with Swords Dance.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting types like Passimian, Medicham, Scrafty, and Hariyama can threaten Togedemaru with super effective coverage.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Slowbro, Vileplume, Garbodor, and Druddigon, despite not resisting or even being weak to Togedemaru's moves, can all take on any hit from it thanks to its lack of raw damage output. All of the aforementioned Pokemon also have the ability to outlast its U-turn pivoting or punish the fact that U-turn makes contact.

[OVERVIEW]

*Togedemaru is a great pivot with a nice speed tier that allows it to outspeed the vast majority of the pokemon in the tier.

*Because of it’s unique type combination it can be a reliable answer to a number of pokemon in the tier such as Vanilluxe, Vivillon, Vikavolt, Whimsicott and Comfey. should probably make more light of positives of the defensive set before addressing positives of the Choice Scarf set, as the defensive set is the primary set listed

*Togedemaru differentiates itself from other Electric-Type pokemon in the tier by being able to utilize physical electric type moves and it's acces to U-turn to by pass Electric immunities. give some examples of Electric-immunities

*It's low natural bulk makes it so it can't easily switch in on even resisted hits, especially when it uses the Choice Scarf set.

*Wish allows Togedemaru to either regain health itself or pass a decent-sized amount of recovery to teammates.

*Spiky Shield allows it to safely recover health with Wish, force foes to take residual damage, and scout for moves.

*U-turn lets Togedemaru pivot against pokemon that did otherwise put up entry hazards, threaten to OHKO it or utilize it as set up bait. give examples of Pokemon you'd U-turn out of

*The last slot is dedicated to the ability to deal with aggressive Diancie, Vivillon, Comfey and Mismagius sets whereas Toxic gives it the capacity to stall electric types like Vikavolt, Rotom, Heliolisk but also other durable pokemon such as Quagsire. more relevant Pokemon like Incineroar and Slowbro which you'd Toxic would be good to note

Set Details
========

*Maximized HP and Special Defense EVs optimize it’s ability to take hits from special attackers such as Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, Comfey and Vikavolt.

*Leftovers is placed to further enhance its ability to take damage and recover back up from it.

*The Lightning Rod ability prevents pivoting from Volt Switch from pokemon such as Rotom and Vikavolt.

Usage Tips
========

*Primarily used for more defensive teams for it’s lack of damage output, this set can provide an appreciated wall to a wide variety of pokemon such as Vivillon, Vanilluxe, Vikavolt, Whimsicott and Comfey. you've used the same 5 examples pretty consistently throughout the analysis; try to sprinkle in more mentions of other prominent Pokemon Togedemaru checks

*Because of it’s low bulk it does still have to watch out for additional coverage like Focus Blast from Choice Specs or Choice Scarf Heliolisk as well as Hidden Power Ground from Vanilluxe and Comfey.

*The majority of the time it will be pivoting around with U-turn against any of its answers or passing around a wish if the rocker or another more aggressive member is worn down.

could probably throw in some mention of using Spiky Shield after a Wish for guaranteed 50% of your maximum health back, as well as using Spiky Shield to scout Choice item users like Passimian, Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, etc

Team Options
========

*Physical Defensive walls like Vileplume, Slowbro, Blastoise and Torterra that deal with Ground-type pokemon form a strong defensive core. specify some Ground-type Pokemon

*Ground type pokemon like Piloswine and Rhydon also appriciate Togedemaru’s ability to deal with Vanilluxe and Vikavolt as well as the HP gain from wish passing. honestly I'd mention here instead the appreciation Slowbro and Blastoise have for Togedemaru dealing with pesky Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon.

*Xatu deserves a special mention as it pivots against the majority of Ground-type pokemon that Togedemaru can’t deal with and it provides one of the most appreciated utilities in preventing entry hazards and status spreading.

give mention as well to some teammates which can help deal with Fire- and Fighting-type Pokemon like Incineroar, Passimian, Medicham, and Delphox for Togedemaru

*U-turn allowes Togedemaru to pivot out of common switch-ins such as Steelix, Torterra, Palossand, Vileplume and Incineroar.

*Zing Zap hits Water- and Flying-type pokemon like Vaporeon, Slowbro, Slowking, Braviary, Sigilyph, Golbat and Vivillon hard enough to force them out.

*Iron Head allowes Togedemaru to hit Diancie, Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, Comfey and Piloswine for super effective damage.

*Super Fang allowes you to instantly break down on pokemon you otherwise wouldn’t heavily damage, you can now instantly down to half HP such as Steelix, Rhydon, Hariyama and even forces bulkier walls like Quagsire to use recover.

*Toxic helps deal with more durable physical walls such as Palossand, Quagsire, Torterra and Slowbro.

Set Details
========

*Maximized Speed and Physical attack alongside a Jolly Nature gives Togedemaru the utility to safely pivot againt the many pokemon it can’t deal with such as Steelix, Quagsire and Palossand.

*Scarf Scarf further enhances that speed tier to outspeed even the most relevant of Choice Scarfers to the point it only has to watch out for Choice Scarfed Delphox, Scyther and Heliolisk. scarf scarf

*Lightning Rod is the preferred ability as it prevents Volt Switch pivoting from Rotom, Vikavolt and Heliolisk. Iron Barbs wouldn’t help against any of the pokemon it checks besides Comfey.

Usage Tips
========

*Because Togedemaru’s damage output isn’t too high it’s better to safely pivot around until late game where it can start to revenge kill many set up threats or worn down attackers.

*Thanks to the wide list of resistances it is able to force out a vast number of pokemon, however it lacks the bulk to come in on most limiting your ability to switch into attacks down to the ones unable to heavily damage it. Pokemon such as Vivillon, Whimsicott and Cryogonal are ideal to switch into mention how you can still revenge kill Pokemon like Vanilluxe and Diancie, you just can't switch in directly

*While good, the Steel/Electric type coverage carries the downside of being unable to hit most Ground-Type pokemon such as Steelix, Palossand, Quagsire and Torterra. this seems more overview than Usage Tips; I'd like to see more expansion on how and when to use moves like U-turn, Super Fang, and Toxic should you opt to use it

Team Options
========

*Any pokemon able to pressure down on Ground types such as Xatu, Decidueye, Sceptile, Dhelmise and Vanilluxe generally deal with most Ground type pokemon.

*Set up sweepers that take advantage of the wide array of Ground-types can abuse this opportunity gain, previously named Decidueye can utilize Swords Dance but also Bulk Up Scrafty can make use of this.

*Lastly other pokemon that can give more opportunity to play aggressively such as Sneasel and Medicham can force out and even pile up damage on otherwise too bulky pokemon to directly deal with. mention here too how Togedemaru can safely pivot them (wallbreakers in general) in on an advantageous matchup

I would like to see a Slowbro mention in here, since the two actually have really damn good defensive synergy. Togedemaru deals with Electric-, Grass-, and Bug-type Pokemon for Slowbro, while Slowbro deals with Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-types for Togedemaru. You could simply add Slowbro to the list of Pokemon that abuse Ground-types and then expand on how the two complement each other nicely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Iron tail could be used on the Choice Scarfed set for a stronger damage output, but it’s accuracy is severely lacking and doesn’t pick up on notable OHKO’s besides defensive Diancie.

*Sleep Talk I an option for the Choice Scarf set to serve as a sleep absorber for Vivillon and Vileplume but will always be able to wall the former and cant hurt the later.

*Encore can be used over U-turn on the special defensive set to lock anything into the chosen set up move. Sadly it doesn’t provide much utility over being able to pivot out preventing such a risk full situation all together.

*Zing Zap can also be used on the Special Defensive set to instantly pressure Vaporeon, Vivillon and Slowking who did otherwise be able to threaten you out with more aggressive sets. expand on why you don't use Zing Zap in most cases though

*Nuzzle, while a good way to spread the Paralysis status condition, doesn’t do enough on any of the sets over the other existing options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Steelix, Quagsire. Palossand, Torterra and Rhydon take almost nothing from any attack Togedemaru could throw at it while being able to put up entry hazards, set up Curse/Swords Dance or OHKO Togedemaru with Earthquake.

**Fire-Types**: Fire-types such as Incineroar can utilize Togedemaru’s lack of damage out put to set up a Swords Dance. Delphox has it’s own advantage in the capacity to outspeed and OHKO both Togedemaru sets.

**Fighting- and Ground-type Coverage**: Coverage options such as Focus Blast from Heliolisk, Hidden Power Ground from Vanilluxe and Comfey all threaten to pick up on the KO against Togedemaru. I don't think a section for coverage moves is really needed; rather, you could make a section for Fighting-type Pokemon like Passimian, Hariyama, and Scrafty and keep the section of Ground-types.

I'd also add a mention (likely make the first C&C this) about physically defensive Pokemon, as Togedemaru can only really pivot off of Pokemon like Steelix and Palossand or use Super Fang to do meaningful damage. Furthermore, Togedemaru sort of just falls over if it's the Scarf set to most physically defensive Pokemon depending on their movesets.

ok ngl I hate myself for approving that amcheck I did lol.. this can be considered my actual 1/3 once implemented

[OVERVIEW]

  • Togedemaru finds a solid place in NU thanks to it's unique type combination that allowes it to reliably answere to a number of pokemon in the tier such as Vanilluxe, Vivillon, Vikavolt, Whimsicott and Comfey. nitpick, but too many examples imo
  • Togedemaru is a great pivot with a nice speed tier that allows it to outspeed the vast majority of the pokemon in the tier. this should probably be the last positive you make note of considering the Scarf set is much less common than the specially defensive one (this is mainly a change for improving flow)
  • Togedemaru differentiates itself from other Electric-Type pokemon in the tier by being able to utilize physical electric type moves and it's acces to U-turn to by pass Electric immunities such as Steelix, Rhydon and Palossand. imo I think comparing it to other Steel-types it better, and you can make note of how it separates itself with reliable recovery in Wish, letting it consistently check what it needs to.
  • It's low natural bulk makes it so it can't easily switch in on even resisted hits, especially when it uses the Choice Scarf set.
  • pretty passive overall and frankly has a ton of exploitable weaknesses. this issue really crops up when it comes to coverage options, with Pokemon like Vanilluxe and Comfey having Hidden Power to bop it. hell even Alolan Exeggutor can Flamethrower it (this mon should be noted in the analysis btw since togedemaru resists both of its stab attacks)

  • Wish allows Togedemaru to either regain health itself or pass a decent-sized amount of recovery to teammates.
  • Spiky Shield allows it to safely recover health with Wish, force foes to take residual damage, and scout for moves from Choice locked pokemon like Passimian and Braviary.
  • U-turn lets Togedemaru pivot against pokemon such as Steelix, Rhydon and Palossand that did otherwise put up entry hazards, utilize it as set up bait or threaten to OHKO it respectively to the previously mentioned.
  • The last slot is dedicated to the ability to deal with aggressive Diancie, Vivillon, Comfey and Mismagius sets whereas Toxic gives it the capacity to stall electric types like Vikavolt, Rotom, Heliolisk but also other durable pokemon such as Quagsire, Slowbro and the ever pressent Incineroar. I think this can be more concise; Iron Head lets Togedemaru immediately threaten Fairy-types like Diancie and Comfey and other frailer attackers like Vivillon and Mismagius, whereas Toxic helps with bulkier Pokemon and Electric-types.

Set Details
========

  • Maximized HP and Special Defense EVs optimize it’s ability to take hits from special attackers such as Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, Comfey and Vikavolt.
  • Leftovers is placed to further enhance its ability to take damage and recover back up from it. Synergizes with Spiky Shield well fwiw.
  • The Lightning Rod ability prevents pivoting from Volt Switch from pokemon such as Rotom and Vikavolt. It gives an overall immunity to Electric, but the Volt Switch preventing is definitely worth mentioning.

Usage Tips
========

  • Primarily used for more defensive teams for it’s lack of damage output, this set can provide an appreciated wall to a wide variety of pokemon such as Vanilluxe, Vivillon, Vikavolt, Whimsicott and Comfey but also take on defensive walls like Slowbro and Cyrogonal. The bit about fitting on (more) defensive teams should be the first point of Team Options imo. Also again, a few too many examples listed. The only reason I really bring this up is because if you consistently list like, 4/5 examples per point, then you end up being more likely to overuse specific examples, and thus the analysis gets a bit repetitive.
  • Because of it’s low bulk it does still have to watch out for additional coverage like Focus Blast from Choice Specs or Choice Scarf Heliolisk as well as Hidden Power Ground from Vanilluxe and Comfey. Comfey runs HP Fire significantly more than HP Ground; I think you could just generalize to "super effective Hidden Power types"
  • The majority of the time it will be pivoting around with U-turn against any of its answers or passing around a Wish if a teammate is worn down.
  • Spiky Shield assures you will get your wish recovery on the second turn amd helps bridge it's weakness to additional coverage moves as well as z-moves. It also gives togedemaru a way of punishing physical attackers like Passimian or Medicham when trying to use Close Combat or High Jump Kick respectively.
  • there should be a point about scouting things like Passimian with Spiky Shield, which is especially useful to see if they're gonna go for U-turn or their super effective coverage
  • something brief about using Iron Head to prevent shit like Comfey and Vivillon from boosting up to muscle by Togedemaru would be nice

Team Options
========

  • like I said in UT: move that bit about the kinds of teams Togedemaru is likely to fit on down here and make it the first point
  • Physical Defensive walls like Vileplume, Slowbro, Blastoise and Torterra that deal with Ground-type pokemon in Steelix, Rhydon, Palossand and Quagsire allowing Togedemaru to form a strong defensive core. this sentence needs some rewording imo.
  • Xatu deserves a special mention as it pivots against the majority of Ground-type pokemon that Togedemaru can’t deal with and it provides one of the most appreciated utilities in preventing entry hazards and status spreading. it's a Fighting-resistant Pokemon too ftr.
  • Fire Resistant pokemon such as Rhydon, Diancie and Hariyama reliably deal with Incineroar, Delphox and Houndoom are highly appriciated. Further more Fighting type answeres in Slowbro, Vileplume, Palossand and Golbat help deal with Passimian, Medicham, Scrafty and Hariyama. soooo many examples
  • Ground type pokemon like Rhydon, Palossand and Torterra as well as Water type pokemon such as Slowbro and Blastoise appriciate Togedemaru’s ability to deal with Vanilluxe and Vikavolt as well as the HP gain from the Wishes it provides.
  • maybe some more mention of Stall-specific Pokemon like Pyukumuku and Mega Audino could work. You could just fit them in where they fit, but Mega Audino in specific is cool because it forms a Wish core with Togedemaru.

Moves
========

  • U-turn allowes Togedemaru to pivot out of common switch-ins such as Steelix, Torterra, Palossand, Vileplume and Incineroar.
  • Zing Zap hits Water- and Flying-type pokemon like Vaporeon, Slowbro, Slowking, Braviary, Sigilyph, Golbat and Vivillon hard enough to force them out. no one wants to read 7 examples in a row; this can be cut down to like 2 of each
  • Iron Head allowes Togedemaru to hit Diancie, Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, Comfey and Piloswine for super effective damage.
  • Super Fang allowes you to instantly break down on pokemon you otherwise wouldn’t heavily damage, you can now instantly down to half HP such as Steelix, Rhydon, Hariyama and even forces bulkier walls like Quagsire to use recover.
  • Toxic helps deal with more durable physical walls such as Palossand, Quagsire, Torterra and Slowbro. guess you could mention here that it means Togedemaru can only really U-turn versus Lix

Set Details
========

  • Maximized Speed and Physical attack alongside a Jolly Nature gives Togedemaru the utility to safely pivot againt the many pokemon it can’t deal with such as Steelix, Quagsire and Palossand. this isn't really what its EVs do. the EVs maximize its offensive presence and let it outspeed other common Choice Scarf users slower than it (you can move the Choice Scarf mention into this section)
  • Choice Scarf further enhances that speed tier to outspeed even the most relevant of Choice Scarfers to the point it only has to watch out for opposing Choice Scarfed pokemon in Delphox, Scyther and Heliolisk.
  • Lightning Rod is the preferred ability as it prevents Volt Switch pivoting from Rotom, Vikavolt and Heliolisk. Iron Barbs wouldn’t help against any of the pokemon it checks besides Comfey. idt a mention of Iron Barbs is needed, especially if it isn't slashed behind Lightning Rod

Usage Tips
========

  • Because Togedemaru’s damage output isn’t too high it’s better to safely pivot around until late game where it can start to revenge kill many set up threats or worn down attackers.
  • Something about using U-turn to bring in wallbreakers could be a good point to mention
  • Thanks to the wide list of resistances it is able to force out a vast number of pokemon, however it lacks the bulk to come in on most limiting your ability to switch into attacks down to the ones unable to heavily damage it. Pokemon such as Vanilluxe, Vivillon, Diancie, Whimsicott and Cryogonal are ideally forced out by the risk of a super effective Iron Head. this can be more concise: Togedemaru is capable of revenge killing many threats thanks to its STAB attacks, but due to its poor bulk, it cannot directly switch into them (fit in examples where you see fit)
  • While good, the Steel/Electric type coverage carries the downside of being unable to hit most Ground-Type pokemon such as Steelix, Palossand, Quagsire and Torterra. Resulting in it pivoting around or utilizing Toxic or Super Fang to quickly bring common Ground type pokemon down. this could also be more concise and just say something like "Togedemaru can use Super Fang early-game to chip Steel- and Ground-types like x, y, and z."

Team Options
========

  • Any pokemon able to pressure down on Ground types such as Slowbro, Xatu, Decidueye, Sceptile, Dhelmise and Vanilluxe generally deal with most Ground type pokemon. Slowbro and Xatu also appriciate Togdemaru's type and Electric Immunity to safely pivot against Cryogonal, Vikavolt and provide Volt Switch immunity against choice locked Rotom and Heliolisk. I think you could split this into two ideas: one idea mentioning defensive Pokemon that check Ground-types and another about offensive ones. You could talk about how Grass-type wallbreakers like Dhelmise and Alolan Exeggutor appreciate Togedemaru drawing in Ground-types and being able to pivot into them with U-turn.
  • Similarly, Set up sweepers that take advantage of the wide array of Ground-types can abuse this opportunity, previously named Decidueye can utilize Swords Dance but also Bulk Up Scrafty can make use of this. This is the place I would mention straight up wallbreakers too.
  • Lastly other pokemon that can give more opportunity to play aggressively such as Sneasel and Medicham can force out and even pile up damage on otherwise too bulky pokemon to directly deal with at a later point.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options

  • Iron tail could be used on the Choice Scarfed set for a stronger damage output, but it’s accuracy is severely lacking and doesn’t pick up on notable OHKO’s besides defensive Diancie. I don't think Iron Tail is really worth mentioning; the poor accuracy is such a huge drawback, and its damage output isn't really needed.
  • Sleep Talk I an option for the Choice Scarf set to serve as a sleep absorber for Vivillon and Vileplume but will always be able to wall the former and cant hurt the later.
  • Encore can be used over U-turn on the special defensive set to lock anything into the chosen set up move. Sadly it doesn’t provide much utility over being able to pivot out preventing such a risk full situation all together. I don't think this is worth mentioning, considering what you're using Encore versus is likely something Togedemaru walls anyhow.
  • Zing Zap can also be used on the Special Defensive set to instantly pressure Vaporeon and Slowking who did otherwise be able to threaten you out or utilize you as set up bait. It also allowes you to OHKO Vivillon the majority of time. Losing out on Iron Head goes at the cost of hitting Diancie, Comfey and Vanilluxe who can retaliate thanks to your lack of damage output.
  • Nuzzle, while a good way to spread the Paralysis status condition, doesn’t do enough on any of the sets over the other existing options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Steelix, Quagsire, Palossand, Torterra and Rhydon take almost nothing from any attack Togedemaru could throw at it while being able to put up entry hazards, set up Curse/Swords Dance or OHKO Togedemaru with Earthquake. you could mention though how they're susceptible to being chipped down by Super Fang or, in the case of all but Steelix, dislike Toxic

**Fire-Types**: Fire-types such as Incineroar can utilize Togedemaru’s lack of damage out put to set up a Swords Dance. Delphox has it’s own advantage in the capacity to outspeed and OHKO both Togedemaru sets. specifying Choice Scarf Delphox is necessary if you want to say Delphox outspeeds Choice Scarf Togedemaru

**Fighting-Types**: Fighting types like Passimian, Medicham, Scrafty and Hariayama can threaten down on both sets with Super Effective coverage.

**Physically Defensive pokemon**: Slowbro, Vileplume, Garbodor and Druddigon despite not resisiting or even being weak to some of the Choice Scarf sets moves, can all take on any hit from Togedemaru thanks to it's lack of raw damage out put. All the above mentioned pokemon also have abilities to outlast it's U-turn pivoting or punish the fact U-turn makes contact.
also keep in mind we got Seismitoad in the last shift, so fit in mentions of it where appropriate

Moves
========

  • The last slot is dedicated to the ability to deal with Fairy types like Diancie, Whimsicott and Comfey while also hitting Vivillon and Mismagius whereas Toxic gives it the capacity to beat opposing electric types and bulkier pokemon such as Quagsire, Slowbro and the ever pressent Incineroar.
  • Mention Super Fang somewhere, as it lets you chip most of your usual switchins heavily (see Lix, Seis, Rhydon)

Set Details
========

  • Maximized HP and Special Defense EVs optimize it’s ability to take hits from special attackers such as Vanilluxe, Whimsicott, Comfey and Vikavolt. Update for new ev spread: Outrunning Incin is important.
  • Leftovers is placed to further enhance its ability to take damage and recover back up from it. It also synergizes with the additional safe turns provided by Spiky Shield.
  • The Lightning Rod ability gives Togedemaru an immunity to Electric-Type attacks, most notably preventing pivoting from Volt Switch users such as Rotom, Heliolisk and Vikavolt.

Usage Tips
========

  • Because of Togedemarus low bulk it has to watch out for additional coverage moves like Focus Blast from Heliolisk as well as super effective Hidden Powers from Vanilluxe and Comfey.
It also gives Togedemaru a way of punishing physical attackers like Passimian or Medicham when trying to use Close Combat, U-turn, or High Jump Kick.
  • Utilize Iron Head when in a comfortable possition against frail special attackers like Vivillon.

Team Options
========

  • Primarily used for more defensive teams for it’s lack of damage output, this set can provide an appreciated wall against a wide variety of pokemon such as Vanilluxe, Vikavolt and Comfey but also take on defensive walls like Slowbro and Cyrogonal.
  • Physical Defensive walls like Vileplume, Slowbro, Blastoise and Torterra can reliably deal with Ground-type pokemon such as Rhydon, Steelix and Torterra, who are major concerns for Togedemaru.
  • Xatu deserves a special mention as it pivots against the majority of Ground-type pokemon that Togedemaru can’t deal with and it provides one of the most appreciated utilities in preventing entry hazards and status spreading.
  • Fire Resistant pokemon such as Rhydon, Diancie and Hariyama help deal with Incineroar and Magmortar are highly appriciated. Further more Fighting type answeres in Slowbro, Vileplume, Palossand and Golbat help over come the wide aray of Fighting types in the tier.
  • Ground type pokemon like Palossand and Torterra as well as Water type pokemon such as Slowbro and Blastoise appriciate Togedemarus ability to deal with Vanilluxe and Vikavolt.
  • Lastly it can pair with common Stall staples in Pyukumuku and Audino even forming a Wish passing core with the later.

Moves
========

  • U-turn allowes Togedemaru to pivot out of common switch-ins such as Steelix and Incineroar.
  • Zing Zap hits Water- and Flying-type pokemon like Vaporeon, Slowbro, and Golbat hard enough to force them out.
  • Iron Head allowes Togedemaru to hit Fairy- and Ice-types for super effective damage.
  • Super Fang allowes you to instantly break down on pokemon you otherwise wouldn’t heavily damage, you can now instantly down to half HP such as Steelix, Rhydon, Hariyama and even forces bulkier walls like Quagsire to use Recover.
  • Toxic helps deal with more durable physical walls such as Palossand, Seismitoad, Quagsire, Torterra and Slowbro.

Set Details
========

  • Maximized Speed and Physical Attack EVs, a Jolly Nature and holding the Choice Scarf allow Togedemaru to outspeed and revenge kill the vast majority of the Speed boosted metagame to where only Choice Scarfed Delphox, Scyther and Heliolisk could out run it.
  • Lightning Rod is the preferred ability as it prevents Volt Switch pivoting from Rotom, Vikavolt and Heliolisk.

Usage Tips
========

  • Because Togedemaru’s damage output isn’t too high it’s better to safely pivot around until late game where it can start to revenge kill many set up threats or worn down attackers.
  • U-turn helps provide opportunity for wallbreakers and set-up sweepers to advance your possition.
  • Togedemaru is capable of revenge killing many threats thanks to its STAB attacks, but due to its poor bulk, it cannot directly switch into them.
  • While good, the Steel/Electric-type coverage carries the downside of being unable to hit most Ground-type pokemon such as Steelix, Palossand, Quagsire and Torterra. Resulting in it pivoting around, utilizing Toxic, or using Super Fang.

Team Options
========

  • Offensive Grass- and Ice-ype pokemon such as Decidueye, Sceptile, Dhelmise, Exeggutor-Alola, and Vanilluxe reliably deal with most Ground type pokemon. Defensive ground type answeres in Slowbro and Xatu also pair well with Togdemaru and further appriciate the provided Electric Immunity to safely pivot against Cryogonal, Vikavolt and Volt Switch immunity against Rotom and Heliolisk.
  • Set up sweepers that take advantage of the wide array of Ground-types can abuse this opportunity, previously named Decidueye can utilize Swords Dance but also Bulk Up Scrafty can make use of this.
  • Lastly other pokemon that can give more opportunity to play aggressively such as Sneasel and Medicham can force out and even pile up damage on otherwise too bulky pokemon to directly deal with at a later point.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Sleep Talk is an option for the Choice Scarf set to serve as a sleep absorber for Vivillon and Vileplume but will always be able to wall the former and cant hurt the later.
Mention the fact that it lets you actually threaten Golbat without being completely PP stalled (not that well, but hey, at least you get rid of a bit of its PP).
  • Nuzzle, while a good way to spread the Paralysis status condition, doesn’t do enough on any of the sets over the other existing options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Steelix, Quagsire, Seismitoad, Palossand, Torterra and Rhydon care little for Togedemarus attacks and are able to put up entry hazards, set up Curse/Swords Dance or OHKO Togedemaru with Earthquake.

**Fire-Types**: Fire-types such as Incineroar can utilize Togedemaru’s lack of damage out put to set up a Swords Dance. Choice Scarf Delphox has it’s own advantage in the capacity to outspeed and OHKO both Togedemaru sets.

This bullet imo gives a bit too much credit to scarf, as Spdef is the main set, and most of them hate Toxic, or can't beat the Spdef Set.
Implement then 2/3

sorry this has been sitting here for so long without one last check, but qc decided that the spdef set should look more like this:
name: Specially Defensive Pivot
move 1: Wish
move 2: Spiky Shield
move 3: U-turn / Super Fang
move 4: Zing Zap / Iron Head
item: Leftovers
ability: Lightning Rod
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 204 SpD / 52 Spe
Toxic -> OO because it's really hard to justify using it over an actual attack, and you don't wanna suggest that a viable Togedemaru set consists of Wish / Spiky Shield / U-turn / Toxic. Zing Zap > Iron Head so you check Braviary better (and ofc remove zing zap from OO to reflect this change)

also got discussed that scarf is probably not worth a full set analysis given how piss weak it is. I'd still keep the text around somewhere in case something comes up regarding that discussion within qc, but for now I'd just make sure the analysis focuses solely on the specially defensive set. you'll wanna give scarf a detailed other options mention (evs, moves, brief mention of purpose, but why it falls short)

I did rather have proper conformation if scarf should be kept or not.

Either way they are implemented, ready for QC 3/3

A Choice Scarf set can also be utilized with Zing Zap, Iron Head, U-turn and Super Fang/ or Toxic, (AC) allowing it to make use of its high Speed and usefull typing to pivot with. o btw a qc detail I think the overview needs addressed: you talk about togedemaru being a good pivot due to its speed that allows it to outspeed much of the tier. well this would be fine if the scarf set was still a main set, but now that it isnt, id reword the sentence to reflect how it lets toge outspeed most defensive pokemon with minimal investment.

Because of Togedemaru's low bulk, it has to watch out for additional coverage moves like Focus Blast from Heliolisk as well as super effective Hidden Power variants (I can only assume this is what you mean based on my NU experience) from Vanilluxe and Comfey. The majority of the time it will be pivoting around with U-turn against any of its answers or passing around a Wish if a teammate is worn down. Spiky Shield ensures Togedemaru will get its Wish recovery on the second turn and helps bridge its weakness (are you talking about it scouting foes? I'd be more explicit and say that tbh) to additional coverage moves and Z-Moves. It also gives Togedemaru a way of punishing physical attackers like Passimian or and Medicham when they are trying to use Close Combat, U-turn, or High Jump Kick. Utilize Iron Head Zing Zap (consistency with set, you can also do "Zing Zap or Iron Head" if you feel both should be mentioned) when in a comfortable position against frail special attackers like Vivillon.

Primarily used for on more defensive teams for because of (it isn't used on these teams for its low damage output) its lack of damage output, this set can provide an appreciated wall against a wide variety of Pokemon such as Vanilluxe, Vikavolt,(AC) and Comfey, but also as well as take on defensive walls like Slowbro and Cryogonal. Ground-type Pokemon like Palossand and Torterra as well as Water-type Pokemon such as Slowbro and Blastoise appreciate Togedemaru's ability to deal with Vanilluxe and Vikavolt. Lastly, it can pair with common stall staples in Pyukumuku and Audino, even forming a Wish passing core with the later latter.

Other Options
=============

A Choice Scarf set can also be utilized with Zing Zap, Iron Head, U-turn,(AC) and Super Fang or Toxic, allowing Togedemaru to make use of its high Speed and usefull useful typing to pivot with (why is its typing useful? It is good offensively or defensively? If it's one or the other in this case, you should specify that). However, Togedemaru lacks a great Attack stat and high-(remove space)Base Power STAB moves, meaning it can't revenge kill as many Pokemon as Choice Scarf Heliolisk. Toxic can be used to deal with more durable physical walls such as Palossand, Seismitoad, Quagsire, Torterra, and Slowbro, all of which can only be meaningfully (or remove Slowbro and disregard the addition here) damaged by Super Fang. Nuzzle, while a good way to spread paralysis,(AC) limits the rest of Togedemaru's moves too much to warrant using it over the recommended options (then why is it here? if there's no reason to use it, then don't include it here).

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ground-types**: Steelix, Quagsire, Seismitoad, Palossand, Torterra, and Rhydon care little for Togedemarus Togedemaru's attacks and are able to put up entry hazards, set up with Curse or Swords Dance, or OHKO Togedemaru with Earthquake or Earth Power (Palossand and I guess Sheer Force Steelix can do this too).

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Incineroar and Magmortar can OHKO Togedemaru with a super effective STAB move, while Incineroar can also utilize Togedemaru’s Togedemaru's (curly apostrophe = bad) lack of damage output to set up with Swords Dance.

All of the aforementioned Pokemon also have abilities the ability to outlast its U-turn pivoting or punish the fact that U-turn makes contact.

I'm withholding my stamp for now, since you missed a ton of checks from the previous one. I don't know if this by accident or if you just didn't want to implement them, but please be sure to implement the entirety of my check, tag me, and then I'll relook it over and stamp.
