Hello, im Pastel, and I joined about 2 months ago to the forums, but havnt been that asking just for a few reasons (wanted me to use good grammar?? lol here it is!!) that I would like to give to the forum staff:

~Make it more atractive.
Well there are a few things that I (and surely alot of more) think its its unpleasant.
1. Being too plain, its just white, there are no images exept for the bread, and what else....It is just plain and boring, have you seen another good pokemon website?? sereb***forums, it has alot of color and you can change it if you do not like the standart one, thats why i prefer there....
2. The adds, they bother far too much, those big images that consume a big part of the screen, why bother having them I know they are an incredible source of money, but, dont you want to have a good forums??

~Make it more enjoyable to stay.
Well what I have said to some admins is that the forums in general are far too messy, they are too messy, it´s unorganized, i barely can find rules, specific posts, and somethings I just don´t understand why they are there, that I just consider SPAM, alot of threads like that, other things are that people use like 10 posts in every thread they make, why not make only 1??

~Make it better for the new to take part of activities.
Everytime I go to a post I consider interesting, it says im just not have the privileges to post, why?? I can surely make things much better than others that just say stupid things like "OHHH, interesting, and then post a stupid or sarsm comment", why can´t I participate in there.
Also, something else, i found for example about the CAP server, i tried to find how it worked, but i could not find anything so I had to PM a mod there (TenisAce), he explained what happened there and told me the only way to participate in the CAP section is encouraging or discouraging the ideas of the High member or TL, why can I give an idea??
Like for example, why can we people vote for Uber, UU, OU, BL categories?? Is that too much for us?? Why is that only for 80 persons?? I´m sure I can give a good reason why a pokemon should be in any tier, because not being on Smogon doesnt represents me being a bad battler or having no experience in competitive play, which i surely have more than some of the guys who vote there.

Uhhh... i think thats all, I´ll edit my post if I remember something else.
 
I think that the colour scheme for Smogon is actually better than most other forums, at least it isn't black, which makes the whole place look really depressing when you think about it.

I fail to see how having ads makes a forum bad. They aren't really big at all, they're just small banners at the top of the page, it's not like they're blocking off posts or anything.

I also fail to see how the forums are unorganised. Everything can be found easily once you get to know the place. The rules of each sub-forum are found in a stickied thread, so it sounds like you're just being lazy. There are also search functions all over the place, so finding specific posts isn't really that hard.

It seems you're talking about the Policy Review that you can't post in. Only badged members so post there. Reason being that the badged members can be considered respectible and mature. If we don't impose this restriction, noobs will flood the place with stupid, creating more problems than it will solve.

The thing about CAP was vaguely explained, can you make that more clear?

The reason why only certain people can vote on a Pokemon's tier, is that they have had lots of experience with said Pokemon, so they can easily judge a Pokemon's placing. If we let everyone vote, we'll get votes from people that have no experience with the Pokemon that is being voted on, it doesn't make any sense to do that.
 
well for example, the CAP thing, i cant submit an ide of my own, i must just judge the TL´s ideas, and if i could id submit a sprite, movepools, and stats, including some standart sets or something, and no im not being lazy, and rules dont explain everything, like trade threads, they arent in the wifi rules, and so that means that anything that isnt in breaking the rules can be posted??
and for example sere***, you can get the exact same colors, and this still look plain, white and blue, some of the most basics colors ever.
and how do you get a badge?? i couldnt find that anywhere...
 
Well, KnightoftheWind said most of the things I wanted to say. But a lot of your post was very confusing to read. People might understand you better if you spelled things correctly instead of writing "u" instead of "you" or "y" instead of "why", because this isn't a chatroom. People expect maturity and intelligence here. I'm sorry if English isn't your first language, but this IS an English speaking forum after all.

Anyways, the forum's layout may be simple, but simplicity is usually a good thing. This isn't a kids forum where everything is brightly colored and there are big sparkly pictures everywhere.

I just want to comment on this one portion of your thoughts.

The suspect testing process is very detailed. The people in charge of it make sure that the voters have had a certain amount of experience with the current suspects. As you can see, I voted in the most recent test. I, along with all the other voters, earned that right by battling frequently on the Suspect ladder on the Smogon Shoddy server. If you or anyone else feel that you want to be a voter, the requirement isn't impossible. You just have to battle. I'm sure that you have battled before, and I'm not saying that you're bad, but you didn't fufill the requirements for the test. That is the only reason that you can't vote. This is pretty much the same for everything on Smogon: if you put some time into it, you will be rewarded, either with respect for your opinion, or with a badge/sticker (not sure what the checkmark and trophies are formally called, so I call them stickers).

Also, the line that I bolded is rather offensive. Just pointing that out.

well while i was checking the sub-forums i saw you, and i cant say you´re bad, and i cant specify who isnt worth of getting credibility, but im sure there are some that surely(because i saw)just get the right to vote by battling often, wich actually doesnt give them the knowledge of directly voting for something.
I dont actually know how to bold.
 
Well, the CAP Project is designed to make new Pokemon to see how they'll affect the metagame, not so people can invent random fakemon. You can submit your own concept, artwork, movepool etc. during the process, it's up to the TL to decide whether it'll be in the poll.

There is a section in the Wi-Fi rules regarding trade threads, so you may have missed it. If it isn't breaking the rules, you can post it, but be aware of these universal rules too: http://www.smogon.com/forums/announcement.php?f=53&a=42

Click on the FAQ link near the top of the page, there'll be a section on badges. Basically, if you positively contribute to Smogon, you'll get a badge.

EDIT: It's not the skill of the player that really matters these days, as long as they have used and fought against the Pokemon being voted on often, they can easily be considered a good voter.
