Toxicroak

I don't see why Scarf Chandy doesn't full out attack, since if it doesn't it's locked into a non-damaging move allowing Toxicroak to set up more. Any calcs for how much a +1 Sucker Punch does to standard Chandelure?

I think he might have been saying Chandelure is an example of a ghost that does all out attack (AKA ghosts that don't behave like Scarf Chandy beat Toxicroak). Anyway, to answer your question, a Chandelure with no defense investment is always OHKO by Adamant Max Attack +1 Sucker Punch whereas a non Attack boosting nature will deal 94.6%-111.4%, a OHKO after pretty much any residual damage.

Phrased badly? I meant "ghosts that full out attack will probably die to toxicroak, scarf chandelure being one such. Ghosts that don't however, can take him out with prediction, which is usually easy, and you can stall their Sucker Punches out thanks to it's 8 uses"

Anyways to answer, the most common bulk up/drain punch/substitute/sucker punch variant against a scarf shandara ;

252 Atk Toxicroak Sucker Punch vs 0 HP/0 Def Chandelure: 69.73% - 82.76%
Toxicroak holding Leftovers, a good chance for a KO after stealth rocks switch in.

252 Atk Life Orb Toxicroak Sucker Punch vs 0 HP/0 Def Chandelure: 91.19% - 107.28% 41.02% chance to OHKO

Guaranteed OHKO after rocks.

And if it gets to + anything, it's always an OHKO, those were both unboosted.

edit: Ninjask'd

The usefulness of Coba is dubious when you consider that Toxicroak may have a sub up when you swap in, and you get 2HKO'd by the subsequent attacks.

252 Atk LO Sucker Punch from Toxicroak does 54.8-64.8% to 4 HP Colbur Berry Espeon.

EUREKA!

I can't thank you enough!

Until now, my team had no way to counter Toxicroak (resulting in constant 6-0 losses), so I decided to give Colbur Berry a go on my Espeon. I've yet to be able to test it, which is why I asked here. But if what you say is true, I think I have me a miracle cure!

@min min: I can usually use one of my other Pokemon to keep the sub away anyway.

Other ways to shut him down;

1) Change the weather, he won't be a threat out of rain from my experience.
2) Ghosts that don't all out attack
3) Dragonite/Salamence/ Similar typing mons if he doesnt have ice punch.

toxicroak is horribly walled by sub split/disable gengar its not even funny

(the sub+ drain punch/sucker punch+boosting move) variants

Its EXTREMELY situtational. Theorically it can trick to on to pokemon, so that you can hit them with other pokemon. In theory it can be used against spin blockers or pokemon like skarmory and bronzong to help and excadrill sweep.

I just fought a bulk up toxicroak with Bulk up, sub, sucker punch and Drain punch? (last move never used) and it was a pain can anyone make a bulk up toxicroak set
evs cause i am very interested in bulk up (it survived a reuniclus psyshock at +2)

hmmm... I COULD use Sunny Day on my Shedinja (The winner of the 2009 Senior Division World VGC used a Sunny Day Shedinja), but that would mean I'd have to forsake Return or Swords Dance.

The EVs I used for that toxicroak were:
244 HP/12 Attk/252 SDef
With an adamant nature

Or you could surprise them with a Special Attacking Toxi and while they're trying to out-predict you, you smack them with a Dark Pulse.

I CALL HIM FEGLORDIO MY NW POKEMON

And what does that have to do with anything?

Ice Punch has some illegality issues, however. I always prefer my Toxicroak to run a set of Swords Dance(or Bulk Up) / Drain Punch / Sucker Punch / Substitute. With a sub up most opponents will be forced into attacking and then you hit them with a +2 LO Sucker Punch in the rain (as to nullify the LO damage), then you just rock face. I ran double Sucker Punch users in Bisharp and Toxicroak and that was pretty awesome actually. Since with Bisharp Taunting users into attacking makes Sucker Punch pretty awesome overall.

Plus Dark / Fighting is hella awesome type coverage
