Troubles Running Shoddy Battle? READ Before Asking

I just uninstalled shoddy battle for some stupid reason...And now I want to reinstal it, but the shoddybattle site is down right now...Does anyone no when it'll be back up?
 
Same problem as Wrong Lane and Butterfingers

I've looked through all the pages on this thread andfound no answer. I am using a macbook with leopard or snow leopard and was able to use shoddy battle a couple of weeks ago. Now whenever I load I get a message saying the sprites didnt load properly and I need to download the jpnl again, so I do and I get the same message. if I persist and try to get onto smogon it says there is a connection error too, although I expect my problem is the sprites... I have downloaded several times to no avail, I have reset the java settings and nothing... any answers coming for the 3 of us??
 
I was able to use Shoddy last night, everything was fine.
I use it today, cannot connect to Smogon's server [and fails silently] or open up any of my saved teams.

Other servers let me get a login window, but I cannot get further than that.

Cleared my Java cache, restarted, and I have the latest Java. No luck.
Any other suggestions?

Got it to bring up the login now after reinstalling Java and clearing the cache [again].

...and does the same thing when I load a team to try to edit it.
 
Same problem, if I click the on the smogon server to connect, it just doesn´t do anything at all.

EDIT: Problem solved, it suddenly works.

EDIT: Oh, not really, it crashed at the welcome screen.
 
You can edit your team, if you go the the welcome window, and click Team Builder (tab) and select Smogon University. It will work like the regular smogon metagame.

I have updated my java and re downloaded shoddy multiple times, and neither works.
 
I'm having the issue of movelists not appearing. Yes, I read the OP's solution to it. However, some confusion coupled with attempts to fix it have lead me to post anyway.

When I look at my java, these are the versions I see under general and under Java apple plugin, in this order:
J2SE 5.0 32-BIT (checkboxed)
Java SE6 64-BIT (checkboxed)
J2SE 5.0 64-BIT (checkboxed)
J2SE 1.4.2 34-BIT (not checkboxed)

I tried moving the 1.4 to the top and checkboxing it, and tried running shoddy but the moveslist is still too stretched. When I move the 1.4 to the top, should I uncheckbox everything else, does it matter? What am I doing wrong?

Another issue I am having is that I cannot login to smogon university, or register. Any other server logging on works fine--I've tried it on 5 different servers. But every time I try logging into smogon, I put in my info and click login and absolutely nothing happens. Same thing when I try to register a different name.
 
I try to open shoddy battle after i have downloaded it from the website, and when I try to open it, i get the long string of text that you told us not to post. I can't figure out what is wrong. Please help.
 
Servers are always 0/100, etc, for all of them. What's up? I currently have an active connection and even refreshed

"Help! I have a mac/use OS X and when I start a battle the battle window stretches and I can't see my moves! What should I do!?!

This is a bug with Java 1.5 for OS X. Open your java preferences and in the Java Applications list in the General tab, make sure that Java 1.5 is not at the top of the list. Java 1.6 is the best choice, but 1.4 also works if you don't have 1.6."



I managed to solve this issue by changing the Java Pref. to Java SE 6, but I was stuck now with only a text file.

To solve that issue, I went into Network > View Cache Files. If Shoddy Battle appears as an application, right-click and "install shortcut". In that case, you will now have an application created, instead of just the text file that will open in Java Web Start.

I hope this helps anyone, I've had a lot of trouble myself.

I am on a Mac, using Java 1.4.2. I can't download Java 6 because my computer is too damn old.
 
I installed ShoddyBattle on a public computer, and have the most recent Java, and the program itself works, along with team editor, but I can't connect to any severs, because I get this error:

Also, all servers say there are [0/XXX] people in them.
 
Ph3artehPh1r3 - Looks to be a firewall problem. Try opening the ports that the servers are on, and allow java through the firewall. Other then that it may just be all the servers off. That error means it can connect, but it refuses to connect.

I've gotten kicked off of Shoddy four times today mid-battle; it tells me that it cannot connect to the server because it has timed out. It's really annoying because it forces me to forfeit the match. How do I prevent this from happening?
 
Whenever I try to run shoddy battle, an error message saying this comes up:

Could not find the main class:
C:\Users\etc\etc\shoddybattle.jnlp. Program will exit.

Is there anything I can do about this? It has been happening for a while and I have no way of opening shoddy battle. I ahve tried reinstalling it and java, but nothing of that sort is showing any results.

So, Shoddy stopped working for me awhile ago, but I was too busy with schoolwork to care. Now though, during spring break, I really want to start Shoddying again. The exception is:

It worked perfectly fine earlier, but now it's giving me a java.lang.NullPointerException, saying "unable to launch the application. What does this mean? It would take me ages to retype all the text in there, however. I have no idea why this is happening.

EDIT: It's worth noting that I can't re-download it or run it either. Also, I deleted it while clearing my Java cache, but now I can't get it back. Tried using Internet Explorer, too. What now?

EDIT2: In the exception, it says (unknown source) in parenthesis like that after every line. However, the only way for me to write the damn exception is to write it on another piece of paper, and then write it down on here, unless I can memorize every damn line, as it won't let me copy and paste it or type while its open. In fact, it closes out as soon as I click somewhere else.
 
Alright, when I start a battle in shoddy the orientation is all screwed up, like pokemon moves go horizontally outside of the constrains of the box making it impossible to pick a move. same for switching pokemon. My Java Web-start is version 11.9.0
 
Well, when I download the JNLP file from the Shoddy website and click on it, the hourglass next to the cursor comes up for a few seconds and then... nothing happens. No error message, nothing. I've tried opening it straight from the website and the same thing happens. Also I've cleared the Java cache and I definitely have the most recent version of Java. I'm using Internet Explorer on Windows XP and really have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Help please!
