Type Optimisation

Moody on that is nuts. Thing has Sleep Powder, Quiver Dance, Strength Sap and the bulk to make use of Moody.
Hmm not quite sure if allowing Moody would be balanced- unless people have any thoughts about this.

Also will edit this post with my entries later.
Moody itself is banned from OU, and not only because two-stage boost each turn already outweight the one-stat reducement each turn, but it also have a chance to increase Evasion, and we already have Evasion clause into use since its OU-based.

Pokemon: Golem-Alola
Type:
Electric.png
Dark.png

Old Stats: 80 / 120 / 130 / 55 / 65 / 45 | 495 BST
New Stats: 90 (+10) / 140 (+20) / 130 / 55 / 110 (+45) / 45 | 570 BST
Abilities: Galvanize / Magnet Pull / Electric Surge (Unless this counts as legendary signature?)
New Moves: Sucker Punch, Fire Lash, Zing Zap
Justification/Niche: Whoa, Golem-Alola is super bulky with amazing offenses and 3 viable abilities! It's still super slow though, but it gets STAB sucker punch, and it can't be slept in electric terrain, along with a good boost to it's STAB electric moves.
Sample moveset:

Golem-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Zing Zap
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
it does. Its kinda bad tbh

What's kind of bad? And I'll just delet the post

No need to delete the post! Just change Electric Surge to something else :) Or maybe just have two abilities.

DatHeatmor I can appreciate the flavour joke of evolving from 'Gloom' I guess haha. Well since this is OU based anyway Moody would've been banned either way if it won.

Pokemon: Zebstrika
Type: Dark/Electric
BST:
75 / 115 / 70 / 115 / 65 / 130 (570 BST)
Abilities: Magic Bounce / Dazzling | Galvanize
New Moves: Spikes, Knock Off, Dark Pulse
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification: So this is an interesting typing. Electric makes it immune to paralysis, while Dark makes it immune to Prankster. With this, Zebstrika can be an interesting anti-lead, especially if you give it Magic Bounce to reflect rocks from your team. Dazzling fixes up it's fraiilty to priority. Spikes allows it to set it's own hazards, while Knock Off is nice utility and Dark Pulse if going special with Thunderbolt/Volt Switch. It's balanced by the lack of high powered Dark moves like Crunch/Sucker Punch (it does have Pursuit as utility though), its general frailty and lack of boosting outside of Lightning Rod.

Justification/Niche: Whoa, Golem-Alola is super bulky with amazing offenses and 3 viable abilities! It's still super slow though, but it gets STAB sucker punch. It can also get a third STAB with steelworker because of it's cool moustache.

Voting is now open!

Use this template and try to have a vote for each one so we have less tiebreakers.

Dark/Grass: Someone's Pokemon
Dark/Electric: Someone's Pokemon
Dark/Fairy: Someone's Pokemon

You can also vote for three typings that will be included in the next slate.

So the next type slate will be:

Poison Secondary Typings: Type 1 / Type 2 / Type 3

Types that are already done: Ice, Electric, Steel, Dark, Dragon, Fighting, Fire, Psychic

For now I’m just voting poison combos and I’m voting for unuse/rare ones: fairy, rock and psychic

We have more than enough bug, grass, and waters with the poison typing.

Can I ask how votes are tallied and tiebreaks are settled? Because it appears both G-Luke and I received 2 votes for our Dark/Electric submissions and I’m not entirely sure what process swung it in his favor. Don’t mean to be that guy but I’d just like to know how voting ties are decided for future reference

BST: 100 / 45 / 110 / 110 / 125 / 80 | BST: 570 (+40 HP, +30 Def, +20 SpA, +25 SpD, +50 Spe)
Abilities: Corrosion / Effect Spore / Mold Breaker (HA)
New Moves: Will-O-Wisp, Toxic Spikes, Earth Power
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Not sure what to call its niche, but it's bulky, spreads poison, and has Strength Sap to weaken physical attackers. Shiinotic is a bulky special attacker with access to multiple status spreading moves like Toxic Spikes, Thunder Wave, and Will-O-Wisp. Strength Sap provides recovery and weakens physical attackers, or Synthesis can be used instead for more reliable recovery against tanks and special attackers. Its STAB combo is walled by Poison and Steel types, but it gets Earth Power to help break through grounded ones. Corrosion can be used to Toxic them too, or Mold Breaker (since it's a fungus) can be used to lay Toxic Spikes and use Strength Sap against Magic Bouncers.
Sample Moveset:
Shiinotic @ Black Sludge
Ability: Corrosion / Mold Breaker
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
IVs: 0 Atk
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Strength Sap / Synthesis
- Toxic / Toxic Spikes / Will-O-Wisp

Abilities: Sturdy / Prankster / Solid Rock (HA)
New Moves: Toxic Spikes, Spikes, Recover
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Hazard stacker. Shuckle has Prankster and access to your choice(s) Sticky Web, Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes. Its tremendous bulk allows it to take hits while it lays hazards. It can also spread Toxic and Knock Off opponents' items, acting as a useful utility Pokemon, but it is extremely passive. Most set up attackers can set up on it, it is vulnerable to Taunt and Magic Bounce, and Dark-types can't be affected if it has Prankster.
Sample Moveset:
Shuckle @ Black Sludge / Mental Herb
Ability: Prankster / Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SpD
Impish Nature
- Recover
- Sticky Web
- Stealth Rock / Spikes / Toxic Spikes
- Knock Off

BST: 120 Hp (+19)/70 Atk (-2)/100 Def (+28)/120 SpA (+21)/120 SpD (+31)/40 Spe (+11)/570 BST (+105)
Abilities:
Aroma Veil / Corrosion / Magic Bounce (HA)
New Moves: Sludge Bomb, Clear Smog and Recover.
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification: Based on a pest erradicator.
Niche: Great bulky mon thanks to its huge amount of resistances, great defensive abilities, good overall bulk and decent supportive movepool.

Pokemon:

Type:

BST: 96(+18) / 65 / 68 / 112 / 154 / 75 | BST 570
Abilities: Merciless, Corrosion, Regenerator
New Moves: Toxic Spikes, Baneful Bunker, Sludge Bomb
Justification: A Fairy that lives inside and takes care of Poisonous Flowers now?
Niche: With a great Typing and amazing special defense, Florges can act as a Special Wall with great utility in Toxic Spikes and Wish. Regenerator can help Florges lay hazards throughout a match, while the other abilities can help Florges not be so passive.

Pokemon: Lycanroc-Dusk
Type:

Rock.png

BST: 75 / 140(+23) / 85(+20) / 55 / 85(+20) / 130(+20) | BST 570
Abilities: Tough Claws, No Guard, Moxie
New Moves: Poison Jab, Gunk Shot, Bonemerang
Justification: A Venomous Wolf just sounds way to cool and edgy. Those spikes could literally be made to inject venom.
Niche: Since the typing is pretty bad, a full out attacker/ sweeper came into mind. Tough Claws to set a swords dance with P jab and the like. Or No Gaurd just to start smacking things right away with 100% accurate Gunk shots and Stone Edges.

Fairy.png

BST: 130 (+30) / 145 (+25) / 105 (+35) / 45 (-15) / 75 (+15) / 70 (+25) | BST 570
Abilities: Strong Jaw/Intimidate (Rattled HA)
New Moves: Poison Fang, Gunk Blast, Toxic Spikes
Justification: Rabid as heck dawg! Pukes gunk and has rabies.
Niche: Aside from the unique typing and 130/105/75 defenses? The 145 attack could count. I mean 70 speed is pretty bad though! I'd say it's up to the meta to fill its niche, I just don't think it'll struggle to find one. Use Strong Jaw for coverage, Intimidate because 130/105 with Fairy/Poison is pretty dope. Rattled abuses its resistance to dark/bug to patch up the speed.

Pokemon: Dustox
Type:
poison.gif
/
bug.gif

BST: 120 (+60) / 80 (+30) / 115(+45) / 50 / 120(+30) / 85 | BST 570
Abilities: Shield Dust/Corrosion (Compound Eyes)
New Moves: Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Leech Seeds
Justification: I like Dustox conceptually as a defensive Bug/Poison, but 385 BST isn't gonna cut it, even in ZU.
Niche: Defensive Poison/Bug. Added some status to have fun with using Compound Eyes, though Shield Dust wards off hax. Corrosion is for toxicing mons who want to stall you. I dunno, I think 120/115/120 with defenses with access to Roost could do just fine!

793.png

Pokemon: Nihilego
Type: Poison / Rock
BST: 109 / 43 / 47 / 131 / 127 / 113 (570 BST)
Abilities: Beast Boost / Levitate (Dazzling)
New Moves: Earth Power, Nasty Plot, Focus Blast
Niche: This solves some of Nihilego's problems, such as mediocre speed and lack of coverage for steel types. Nasty Plot means Nihelego can attempt to wall break midgame or even clean late game. Dazzling solves it's weakness to common priority moves hitting its horrendous physical defense and Levitate is fitting for something that has been seen to fly across multiple media. Also it now sets up on shit like gliscor and lando.

Pokemon: Scolipede
Type: Bug / Poison
BST: 100 / 110 / 119 / 64 / 60 / 112 (570)
Abilities: Mold Breaker / Poison Touch (Speed Boost)
New Moves: Gunk Shot, Rapid Spin, Flare Blitz
Niche: This Mon was supposed to be to route 1 Bug types as talonflame was to route 1 birbs. But an unfortunate case of Gale Wings in Gen 6 and Power Creep + Celesteela in Gen 7 has robbed it of it's rightful place. It's stronger and bulkier now, being able to set up on physical attackers that can only hit it neutrally, and it's gained a better Poison STAB as well as a better way to hit steels not named Heatran. It's lead set now has a way to keep hazards off the field, and it's honestly pretty flavorful - whirlipede could definitely learn the move. If for some reason you aren't using Speed Boost, Mold Breaker let's it give the finger to unaware mons like clef, hariyama, and quag.

Oh I'm sorry! it was midnight and I misread my list (since I use initials to tally them in my notes)!

I usually do 24 hour votes for tiebreakers, so I'll just do open that tiebreaker vote now!

Apologies for that, I'll open the tiebreaker now- So for Dark/Electric please vote for G-Luke's Dark/Electric Thnudurus or Leonard (from big bang theory's Xurkitree!

My vote is for G-Luke
