When I said they need a niche I meant the originals lol.They already have distinct niches from their respective original forms. In fact, both are much better than theirs original form (Latias-mega's CM stored power set is insane due to her bulk and Latios-mega is such a great wallbreaker). This may help theirs original form to be good again ig tho. Anyways...

Well, It's pretty much an ultra-beast, as it comes from the same alternate worlds that the ultra-beasts do, but yeah, it's not actually an ultra beast itself, my bad. and there's a reason I called heliolisk my "most controversial pick", although I do think that the way it's connected to the sun is fair enough for it's space-type, since clefable's moon moves are mostly given to it due to it's fairy-type.

I updated my post to give stat buffs to Solrock and Lunatone, not just making them Rock / Space. Their original stats are too low to be remotely useful in OU, and both are not even ranked in the PU's Viability Ranking anyways.
I would do the same thing for Pokémon with BST too low or those in PU, to make sure they function well in at least beyond PU.

Porygon: ive seen a lot of these and i want to say that Porygon is Normal type because its the standard type to which Porygon can then change it's tupe. If anything make it Normal/Space.
Cresselia: i get that its tied to the moon but if you make Cress Heart/Space at least make Darkrai Dark/Space

I didn't see anyone try to turn porygon into space, but yeah i don't think it should be space.
With the ultra beasts, i thought about which ones don't really fit their types. Maybe we could do what we did with the fossils and give them alternate forms that are space-type?
I did submit Space Porygon line.
Since it comes from cyberspace, Space type fits the Porygon line well
And if we ever get a technology/artificial/cyber based type, then we could give them that too (Cyber/Space type sounds pretty cool).

Vs. Fire: Fire needs oxygen to exist, there's no oxygen in space, case closed.
Vs. Flying: Again, air-based attacks aren't really good if there's no air!
Vs. Bug: Most (?) bugs need oxygen to breath.
Vs. Normal: Same but for other animals in general. Also, as much as we want to buff normal-type, it's, atm, a pretty good defensive typing, having only one weakness.
Vs. Rock and Ice: Space is already full of rock and ice, so a little more of that doesn't really affect it that much. Also, offensively speeking, Ice type need some kind of nerf.
Vs. Fairy: Fairy uses the power of the moon and the power of stars to use their moves.
Vs. Psychic: Same thing, but in a lesser mesure

Why exactly is
I was basing a lot of this on what can survive in space, and stars are... well, they're sort of fire? Close enough to count in my book. =]
I think it is because most space component can be easily burned by getting too near stars, which are huge burning spheres.
Exceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeept fire needs oxygen to survive, which there is none of in space. Also, stars are mostly plasma, which is very different to fire.
Yes, plasma is different to fire, but it's close enough for the silly game about pocket monsters. =]
Fire has no business being super effective to Space. Fire cannot burn in Space. Stars are not Fire. There is a reason Solgaleo ain't Fire type.
