Multi Gen Ubers Video Thread (V2) [Updated 20th November]

After OU, which tier do you think gets the most exposure on YouTube?

I think we should abstain from posting arguments when we don't have a lot of experience using the set/mon/team in discussion.
i think theres not really any point in arguments at all tbh, its silly and childish. Sure, you can disagree with something, but dont be a dick about it and consult with other people instead of just trying to barrage your "point" across multiple times. We should really only be giving constructive criticism

Let's forget about the Megahorn argument and drop Scarf Xern at least for now, I/we can focus on doing the more easy sets, e.g. dual STAB toxic rest kia, LO Yveltal, i'm sure these are easy to agree on. I'll get on this tonight/tomorrow evening

Anyway, so update time:

The Intro To Ubers Part I has been finished, cleaned up, music added and is now rendering in HD Quality (1364 x 768). I'll send it to Ace Emerald as soon as I do the thumbnail / write the description / etc. you can find it here (pretty similar to the previous one, just redid the intro and xern + kyogre due to mixing myself up the first time):

I found an old video (~2 months) that i recorded and forgot about, in which I discussed the Sinnoh dragons in the XY Ubers tier. You can find this video here:

I uploaded it to my channel, the sound isn't as great as it could be but the content is I hope all there.

Also, in one of my non-competitive videos (Emerald Battle Frontier) I ended up talking for the whole episode about the Gengarite Suspect Test and Suspects in general, you can find this here:

(first two rounds of the battle tower are boring and easy so i filled the time with Suspect discussion)

Caught up on what i missed, short of watching the vids. Lots of stuff is getting put together which is really cool guys. :o

Lustkia, I sent you a contact request on skype.

I'll make sure to set aside some time to check out each of these vids, there's a lot at once and I wasn't expecting so much so I'll have to john more so that I can watch them all.

As for mega blaze, there is certainly noticable differences between running protect and not doing so on it. However, I think you can squeeze in a quick mention of it cause that difference is mostly about running an inferior set barring some choice teams (like wobb builds).

After helping more than one person in the room who was new to Ubers teambuild, and receiving several questions on why straight 252 / 252 spreads weren't being used on this, that and the other, i had an idea

the benefits of 76 Atk LO Yveltal:

the benefits of 52 SpDef Ho-Oh:

the benefits of 140 Def Scarfxern:

there are loads more spreads to go into in detail, I'll do those too

Edit @ above: thanks Melee :)

For the Ho-Oh, there is a spread that does the same thing but with fewer EVs so you have more to invest in Attack and Speed. 208 HP / 88 SpD Ho-Oh will always survive +2 Thunder from Xerneas and only uses 296 EVs instead of the 300 EVs 248 HP / 52 SpD Ho-Oh needs to use, giving you 4 more to put somewhere else. The HP number is also a Regenerator number as well as being odd (although Regenerator makes this irrelevant) which is just icing on top of the cake really. This is the bulk spread I would run on Choice Banded Ho-Oh. 192 HP / 100 SpD is 292 EV spread that does the same thing (except the Regenerator number) and, although it cuts into Ho-Oh's HP investment a good amount, it gives Ho-Oh a Life Orb number also. This would be the bulk I would use on Life Orb Ho-Oh.

Edit: I just got done watching the Yveltal spread vid, and I would also like to recommend 32 HP / 44 Atk / 252 SpA / 184 Spe Mild with the only difference being the HP investment giving you a minimum Life Orb number and Sucker Punch still having quite a bit of kick to it.

side not try not to embed two many videos on one page because it makes loading a pain. (note: putting in hide tags does not work. you have to manually use the url function in the editor I think)(if anyone remembers the anime openings thread i made in great library yeah...)

lustkia can u post ur comments on joryn+me+k legacy's video? I know that it's not necessarily polite but I'm requesting that you do as I feel the message you gave me when we talked about it before would be very good advice to anyone in creating videos or not. Or at least maybe we could have some discussion about pre-video warnings about language content etc. and that it might be unsuitable for individuals below a certain age to watch, or people who are easily offended, etc. Like in uberscast that sorta shit woulda been a wise move in retrospect

I hate to follow Edgar's fantastic post and video with this post but i forgot to click "Reply" last night :P.

Regarding Piexplode's Video

Piexplode asked me to repeat what I said to him when we talked a couple days ago so I will, I talked to K Legacy about this and i'll call in Joryn as well. It's not gonna read too nicely but I'll be completely honest.

I watched that video and to be honest I was disappointed. I know that we all talk shit about each other in our own private Skype calls but when I hit that Record button I always make sure not to insult my opponent, I try not to be negative about games even if I get haxed etc. There's a very pleasant and noticeable difference between "well that's irritating / that's not great / that's a shame" and "OMG what a fucking dickhead, haxing piece of shit" which is the sort of thing you hear from far too many YouTubers. Calling someone "fucking retarded" for making "shit plays" is not great either, and interestingly you hear a lot of players say things like this after they lose to the said "retarded shitty plays". Of course if someone switches Scizor into an obvious Sacred Fire when they have a full-health Arceus-Water, then questioning that is normal, but insulting inexperienced players for using Thunderbolt Xerneas is no good.

K Legacy doesn't say too much in that video which in my opinion is a good thing for him, as the content in it does not reflect too well on either Joryn or Piexplode. You may have your opinions on the ability of other players but insulting MegaMan like you two did gives a really bad impression. I know you guys are nice but this kind of stuff was actually kindof uncomfortable to hear, and other people don't know you as well as I do.

The SmogonU channel actually has an OU Finals match narrated by Chimpact, ShakeItUp and someone else and that was also not great to watch. They were commenting on plays made by a certain player, I don't know who exactly, but he was apparently making bad plays. Instead of going with "hmmm not sure about that" or "he could've switched out to X instead of Y" there was a whole lot of "LMAO he's choking on dick" and "what the fuck is he doing, what a fucking idiot, stop choking on dick retard". I was actually surprised that this was uploaded onto the channel as it does not reflect well on the commentators or on the channel itself, and the guy who was being talked about didn't at all appreciate being insulted like this and retaliated in the comments section :/.

As regards the content itself, it was basically you guys messing around and making some weird team. As Steel said it wasn't a serious team, but it was still hilarious to see him lose. Like Melee recommended, we can have videos that are more fun than serious and this fits well.

Regarding the argumentative nature of a certain person in this thread

I'm also going to say that I'm not going to pointlessly argue with anyone about things that are made and posted, as I am confident in the quality of everything due to the fact that I talk to several people beforehand about what they think and ask for their opinions on EV spreads / movesets / etc. I am happy to redo things I do wrong but when what, like five (?) good players come to my defense without any encouragement from myself, I am perfectly comfortable that my opinion is correct and am also entitled to defend myself, and shouldn't have to deal with snipy PMs afterwards. I'm not the only one who said you were wrong, and I actually said it a lot more nicely than Hack did, who called you a waste of time. This may sound whiny but recently a friend was leaning over my shoulder and read what Minority Suspect PMed me, and it was pointed out to me that I shouldn't have to take shit like that from someone who has thus far contributed NOTHING but strife in this thread without actually making anything like Edgar, K Legacy, Joryn or Piexplode have, which is why I'm retaliating here. In fact, this is not even really aimed at him in particular but rather at all the shitposters and negative users, go do it somewhere else cause you can rest assured that I'm not going to take it, and we'll end up ruining the thread with arguments, I'm tired of losing my temper over things like this.

Regarding Wreckdra's input

Lastly, WreckDra, my honest opinion is that those EVs are slightly inferior and too fancy (don't get me wrong, I appreciate the feedback, especially as it was nicely written with a pleasant tone). 300 EVs instead of 296 is really really not a notable difference and you may say that you get these fancy Life Orb and Regenerator numbers, but you also cut into your bulk indirectly. you may have a sliver more raw Special Defense but you also lose a chunk of Defense indirectly due to losing the HP, I don't know what you would call it, weighted Special Defense? It's like, you could invest 252 Speed and 252 Special Defense on Palkia, which would allow you to take Kyogre's hits slightly better than with 252 HP, but it would be totally stupid to do so - the minute difference in one defensive stat is not worth the noticeable difference in damage taken on the physical side due to the 20% difference in HP - think of how you invest Blissey's / Chansey's EVs, you could go with 252 HP / 252 SpDef but if you go with 252 Def / 252 SpDef then you take physical hits 300% (!!!!!) better whilst only taking ~10% more from special attacks . There's a difference between specific to hit a certain benchmark, and fancy like 192 / 100 which seems to me to be completely pointless. However, Hack i am sure will be able to tell us what the best is in his opinion if he doesn't eat me for tagging him again.

Regarding these videos I'll just throw them up on my channel and make a series of it or something.

P.S. more HP on Ho-Oh is also nice cause it lets you take more Brave Bird recoil, which can change a match. think of all the times Ho-Oh just died from recoil when it would have been great later on, being able to switch out at 1% after killing something and coming back in at 33% or pivot switching in and out easily to get back up to like 70% through Regenerator!

Yeah idk what else to say in response to that Ho-oh spread, I think LustKia got down the importance of not encouraging defense bias when the difference in attack power is almost nothing. LO Ho-oh is a recoil machine and more HP certainly helps with that. Remember that Ho-oh isn't frail on the physical side either, some extra HP is always helpful for tanking stuff like espeeds, random outrages, psystrikes and stuff a little bit better.

They were all just suggestions of couse, so take them as you will. They are just spreads I have used in the past and will probably continue using on respective Ho-Oh variants. I thought it was appropriate to share seeing how a main topic on one of the videos was Ho-Oh's EV spread.

You gotta remember bud, referring to chimps vid w/ frens, that a lot of people bring personality with them to their videos. Edgar for example imo makes great videos and gets to the point but i can be 100% sure that if his opponent haxes him, he will call them a (BAN ME PLEASE). That's just who he is and same goes for Shake and frens. People click the vid to not only learn, but to see their favorite uploaders being their favorite uploaders. Personally, i don't curse in any of my videos but i rarely curse at all so i bring my personality to my content. Sure, we can have a "rule" that stops people from using vulgar language, but then what's gonna stop us from all sounding the same with some monotonetype narration. Bottom line, if you get your point accross and clearly explain it after...you should be able to speak how you want. The point of uploading these vids is to not only promote ubers/smogonu but the content provider as well. You can mix professionality actually i'm just gonna call it "good content" with humor. Just don't make it all about the language haha. Chimp an frens explained why plays were bad in a way i found enjoyable. Just my 2 cents. Sorry for grammar issues and lack of commas in certain places, i got lazy.

I think it's fine for personal channels but for the official Smogon chan it should be focused on being informative rather than wanting to see your favorite personalities

bumpin bc tomorrow is supposed to be ubers open finals at 4PM EST and it'd be pretty cool to get those battles on the main chan. I know Edgar was planning on doing a vid for it but it'd be cool if a couple users got together and talked about it especially to fill the downtime bc it'll be live. I unfortunately have a lab during that time so I can't guarantee being there unless it's a bit later (tagging Rolaz and Steeljackal<3 cuz they're the ones playing)
