Omastar

Item: White herb/Life orb
Timid nature
Ability: Weak armour
EV's 252 Speed & SpA, 4 Def
- Shell smash
- Hydro pump/Surf
- Ice beam
- Earth power / Stealth Rock / Hidden power grass

The most problematic pokemon for alolan-Persian I feel is Omastar, Here's why: Omastar can really punish Persian by switching in on a foul play (or even fake out) and getting weak armour to proc and simply setting up on it..or firing off some heavy damage. Also an option is life orb dual hazards simply forgoing the shell smash outspeeding the taunt and keeping your opponent guessing is very threatening. If the right checks have been weakened or fainted then omastar can start breaking.

mawile.gif

Mawile @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Play Rough
- Super Fang
- Toxic

The ultimate Alola Persian counter, Mawile can switch into Persian-A with ease. Mawile's average defense + Intimidate makes it so that it takes little damage from Foul Play, and thanks to Rocky Helmet, it can deal an additional chip damage of 12% being able to easily 2HKO Persian-A (or 3HKO if Mawile is holding Leftovers). Also, Mawile is immune to Toxic and is not annoyed by Taunt, just resting Persian to uses Parting Shot.

-1 0 Atk Persian-Alola Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 36-42 (11.8 - 13.8%) -- possible 8HKO
0 Atk Mawile Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Fur Coat Persian-Alola: 128-152 (38.3 - 45.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock

Clefairy is a counter. Clefairy takes no damage from Toxic, due to Magic Guard. It resists Foul Play and takes insignificant from it as well due to the low attack stat. Clef is able to either set up rocks or a calm mind when Persian is forced to Parting Shot out.

Lilligant @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Healing Wish
- Leaf Storm
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Rock]

Here we have quite an uncommon and fairly underrated set. I'm submitting this fine creature as a check to Bulky Pivot Persian-Alola. This particular Lilligant set has an incredible amount of speed with the Choice Scarf and has a very good SpAtk stat to match this speed. A single Leaf Storm from Lilligant is able to kill Persian-Alola after rocks and 2HKOs without rocks. Alternatively, if you would rather not swap out Lilligant right after Persian-Alola dies, Energy Ball 2HKOs Persian and does not drop your SpAtk stat. Lastly, Lilligants low attack stat makes Persian-Alola's only attacking move, Foul Play, very weak. So weak in fact, it would take 4 of them to kill it.

Calcs
252+ SpA Lilligant Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Persian-Alola: 295-348 (88.3 - 104.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Lilligant Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Persian-Alola: 204-241 (61 - 72.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Persian-Alola Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Lilligant: 76-91 (27 - 32.3%) -- 75% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

Aggron @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Head Smash
- Heavy Slam
- Ice Punch

Aggron as a check. Aggron always 2HKOs A-Persian with head smash. It cannot be toxic'd and if A-Persian goes for parting shot, then foul play does less damage. Allowing Aggron to always beat it. But! Aggron cannot switch in, especially if rocks are up. Which is why it's not a counter. Persian-A's foul play does too much damage on the switch in. Hit once on the switch-in, hit twice due to higher speed, live the hit and hit again the next turn for the KO.

0 Atk Persian-Alola Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Aggron: 91-108 (32.3 - 38.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Persian-Alola Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Aggron: 91-108 (32.3 - 38.4%) -- 97.1% chance to 3HKO

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Atk / 64 Def
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Bulk Up

Counter. Gurdurr may end up taunted and prevented from using Bulk Up. Who cares? lol. Gurdurr can just Drain Punch for days and take this literal fat cat down. Persian's Foul Play isn't even scratching it that well either.

Regirock

Regirock @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 56 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Toxic

Regirock is a complete counter to Pinsir. Pinsir's Earthquake 4HKO's Regirock after Leftovers recovery which means that Regirock can switch into Pinsir with ease. Pinsir could also run Close Combat, however, even that move requires 3 hits before Regirock is down. Regirock's ability to take on Pinsir's strongest attacks and 2HKO it with Stone Edge or Rock Slide means that it perhaps is the most reliable Pinsir counter. Furthermore, Regirock could set up Stealth Rock or alternatively Toxic whatever is coming in on Pinsir's potential switch.

252+ Atk Pinsir Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 56+ Def Regirock: 112-132 (30.7 - 36.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Pinsir Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 56+ Def Regirock: 134-158 (36.8 - 43.4%) -- 99.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Regirock Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pinsir: 216-254 (79.7 - 93.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Reserving the nightmare for setters... Pyukumuku

Pyukumuku @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Soak
- Recover
- Block / Counter

The real nightmare for all the setting up Pokémon (physical attackers specifically). Thus, Z-Me First does nothing against it and the best attack is X-Scissor doing 27-32% of damage (calcs below). On the other hand, Pyuku can just click Toxic and wait (and maybe blocking Pinsir too + Soak to deal with the attacks more easily) or also click Counter to deal some indirect damage to Pinsir.

252+ Atk Pinsir X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Pyukumuku: 84-100 (26.7 - 31.8%) -- 37.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
.

Nothing more to add. Pyukueasy.

Carracosta as a counter

Carracosta @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 SpD
Relaxed nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Rock Slide
- Toxic

Factoring in Leftovers, Pinsir can only hope for a 4HKO, while Carracosta's Rock Slide is a guaranteed 2HKO on Pinsir. It can also fish for a burn with Scald, or even set up Stealth Rock in Pinsir's face. I know the listed set doesn’t use Rock Slide, but with Dodrio being so strong I think that’s its best option.
Calcs:
252+ Atk Pinsir Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Solid Rock Carracosta: 108-127 (30.6 - 36%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Carracosta Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pinsir: 170-204 (62.7 - 75.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Circle Throw
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Defensive Poliwrath is a counter to Z-Me First Pinsir, as it tanks any given hit, even if Pinsir has a boost or two, has recovery in Rest and Leftovers, and can phase it or fish for Scald burns. Phasing is especially notable because Z-Me First is a one-time boost, although note that if Me First copies Circle Throw, Poliwrath will be phased out first.

Quagsire @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Recover
- Curse

Quag eats everything Pinsir can throw at it and can even setup on it with Curse. A counter, though it loses to SD Pinsir.

Simisear @ Firium Z
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Focus Blast

Simisear is a check of course. Simisear is able to outspeed Pinsir before it is at +2 speed and scares it out with a Fire Blast and you either click that or Nasty Plot and proceed to nuke the switch-in. Note that Pinsir at +2 kills Simisear with EdgeQuake and it only checks it before it uses Z-Me First.

Murkrow @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mirror Move
- Brave Bird
- Sucker Punch
- Protect

How to beat Z-Me First Pinsir? Well to squash a bug, you must outplay it. Murkrow fits as a check because of this as it stops any possible Pinsir sweep. You click Protect as they click Stone Edge to scout it and then Z-Mirror Move for easy profit. Then proceed to sweep the opponent’s team.

Kabutops @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Liquidation
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

Offensive check. Tops can come in on an unboosted EQ

252+ Atk Pinsir Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kabutops: 224-264 (85.8 - 101.1%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

and live given its physical bulk and then outspeed and OHKO Pinsir right back with Stone Edge

252 Atk Kabutops Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pinsir: 300-354 (110.7 - 130.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
