This week we're gonna be kicking off with a more offensive trend with our mons. Infernape has been a solid pick in the UU metagame for who knows how long with a variety of sets.

Celebi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

Scarf Infernape has somewhat fallen out of favor and Infernape is usually NP now. Celebi is able to net a surprise kill on Ape, Beedrill, Krookodile,etc. while providing healing wish and u-turn support for other teammates.

Psychium Blissey is cool to lure ape because Blissey is generally very passive and Ape can usually come in for free. However, with the Z, it can kill Ape after rocks as shown below. Also taking less from Knock Off is nice.

Infernape is a common check to Swords Dance Iron Plate Scizor. However, it fails to check SD LO Quick Attack variant which can OHKO it after a single SD and Stealth Rocks damages.

Infernape can normally ohko swampert with grass knot after a small amount of chip or after a nasty plot, however with Rindo berry, it will tank the hit and ohko back with earthquake,

This set also however allows it to deal with grass knot nihilego, life orb zeraora (which ohkos after small chip) and HP grass users (eg. manectric which seems to be running hp grass a lot more again recently), as well as tanking an energy ball from the not very common chandelure too, ohkoing all in return with earthquake.

Most Infernape aren't Choice Scarf right now so you can outspeed and OHKO most Infernape as they will likely stay in and try to KO you with a fighting move. Additionally you can get surprise kills on other things that might try to stay in on you like Pidgeot-Mega, Zeraora, Latias, Hydreigon, Celebi, Manectric-Mega, Cobalion, and Terrakion.

Empoleon with Chople Berry can easily lure Infernape, taking any unboosted fighting move and OHKOing after rocks. If needed, Hydro Pump can be used to OHKO Infernape without the help of chip damage, but an Infernape is more likely to take the bait vs a Scald using Empoleon.

between blissey or celebi for me, but since i'm always worried of the fire blast miss against celebi anyway gonna go for sickist., would never see that one coming in a million years, and turns it into a nice knock off sponge against krook and stuff too.
QA Scizor. God knows how many times I've lost to that Scizor set while using Infernape as one of my primary checks.

Tentacruel is a good bulky Water-type that can switch into several threats and remove hazards. Sometimes, removing it would be more effective with a lure.

A Mixed Ape set I made a while ago. Ape easily lures in Tenta thanks to it resisting its stab moves. Thunder Punch lures in things like Tentacruel and Moltres and bops them. It garuanteed 2OHKOs the standard fast Tenta spread. It also has a very good chance to 2OHKO the bulkier variant too, garuanteed after SR dmg.

Rockium Coba is great. ig you could run Zen Headbutt but I prefer to keep the ability to smack Moltres and Rotom-H. Tentacruel will often switch in against Cobalion to quickly haze or punish with Scald since Cobalion is too weak to do too much back typically even with Z, unlike the other Fighting-types.

Natural Gift lets a Scizor holding an Apicot Berry unleash a 100 BP ground type move, which will always kill the common fast Tentacruel with rocks up when comboed with Bullet Punch. And even has a pretty good chance to do so without rocks. Slower, bulkier Tentacruels just need to get knocked first.

Use knock to scout out what the Tentacruel is and maybe get some chip in, and once the Tentacruel seems fairly comfortable, force it in with an SD, and unleash the Natural Gift as it hazes.
