Project UU ArcheTYPE Cores - Week 6: Normal/Psychic/Steel [Submissions]

reserving froslass, tapu bulu and keldeo

:sm/Keldeo: :sm/Tapu Bulu: :sm/Froslass:

Froslass (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Icy Wind

Tapu Bulu @ Life Orb
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Air Slash
- Flip Turn

:Froslass:: Froslass is your usual Spikes Suicide Lead. It sets all the spikes it can and dies, with taunt to shut down most defoggers and Destiny Bond to try and take someone down with you.

:Tapu Bulu:: SD Tapu Bulu is a underrated pick for most of these Spikes team that try to take Keldeo to it's fullest potential, luring AV Tang into Megahorn and Noivern/Salamence into Stone Edge. Without Skarmory and Bisharp, Tapu Bulu can easily drop CC, as it has Megahorn to hit Zarude and the other Dark-types.

:Keldeo:: Keldeo being one of, if not, the best Pokemon in this tier is really important for Spikes, as it takes big advantage from them, especially when most of its checks are gone thanks to its partner Tapu Bulu, and it is a really good wallbreaker overall.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off

Slurpuff @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Def / 0 SpD
- Sticky Web
- Endeavor

- Misty Explosion

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

This is a Webs HO core. Slurpuff sets up webs, gets its Focus Sash used up, then uses Endeavor to get the opponent down to 1 HP, allowing Mamo and Azu to pick them off easily with their priority moves. Slurpuff can also put enemies to sleep to give Azu chances to set up a Belly Drum.

Mamoswine @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Freeze-Dry
- High Horsepower
- Icicle Crash
- Stealth Rock

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 140 SpD / 116 Spe
Gentle Nature
- Giga Drain
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Knock Off

Tapu Bulu @ Leftovers
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- High Horsepower
- Megahorn
- Whirlwind
- Synthesis

Tentacruel can set up Toxic Spikes and rid your team of them too. It can also Knock Off items like Boots, Leftovers, etc. With Liquid Ooze you can use it to block common damage-to-recover moves.

Bulu can set up Grassy Terrain, so your team can heal a little, and cover to major weaknesses of Tentacruel, Electric and Psychic. Giving it Whirlwind allows it to force-swap opponents onto the Toxic Spikes. Synthesis allows it to recover chip damage and weaker hits.

Mamoswine can switch into Electrics, Ices, or Fires for its teammates, since Thick Fat lowers effectiveness of the latter two and it is immune to the former. Freeze-Dry helps against Ice types, because even though Mamoswine doesn't have a crazy Special Attack, it will still make them wary of switching in a Rotom-Wash or Quagsire. Icicle Crash is strong STAB that can flinch. It can also set up Rocks, which compounds with T-Spikes, and Bulu's Whirlwind.

Voting is up! That was an uhh, interesting week, but congrats to Lolito for winning the week. Your submission will be added to the archive shortly. Now, lets introduce this week's core you have to build

Thats right, this week will be a core of water/ground/dragon! All 3 of these have some nice defensive synergy, with dragon types covering water for grounds and grass and electrics for water, while grounds can also cover electrics for water. Water eats up ice attacks for the other 2 and all 3 types are able to exert some offensive pressure as well. Like last week, this week has a theme, being it should be a defensively oriented core. Good luck to everyone and lets get some submissions. A list of viable Pokemon that can be used is down below.

Milotic @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 236 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Toxic / Ice Beam
- Recover
- Flip Turn

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Heat Crash / Swords Dance / whatever

Noivern @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor / Hurricane
- Flamethrower / Hurricane
- Roost
- Defog / U-turn

This is a pretty cool defensive/balance core utilizing absolutely 0 UU pokemon. Rhyperior is the best rocker in the tier at the moment, and is able to check pokemon like Moltres, Rotom-Heat, or Salamence decently well. Milotic compliments this by being able to handle more specially-oriented threats that can overwhelm Rhyperior or outright KO it, such as Primarina, Nidoqueen, or Aegislash (if rhyperior is weakened). I prefer Toxic on Milotic right now, as it enables it to pressure Primarina and AV Tangrowth better while still not being a useless noodle vs Salamence. Finally, Noivern is able to outrun and threaten Raikou, as well as Amoonguss and helps Milotic check Keldeo. Depending on whether you run Defog or not, Noivern can also funtion as hazard control, and regardless of moves, functions as speed control as well. Overall, this is a fun core that really compresses a lot of roles for a team.

:kommo-o: @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe

:krookodile: @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Darkest Lariat

Krookodile is the speed control of the core, outspeeding many Pokemon even ones as +1 such as Gyarados, Diggersby, Chandelure, and Lommo-o, it provides electric immunity for Primarina and prevents volt switch from rotom's, and cobalion, and checks thundurus-t in a pinch due to its immunity to psychic which could help in a pinch. Primarina hits like a truck, it can 2hko even bulky pokemon such as tangrowth, mew, jirachi, and tapu bulu. Primarina also provides the core with a much needed dragon immunity, a fighting resist, and good natural bulk. Kommo-o provides the team with stealth rocks, toxic, and provides a check to pokemon such as specs chandelure, zygarde-10%, keldeo, and the rotom's. It has a very storng body press coming off stab alongside 358 defense stat which hits hard as hell, and with flamethrower still OHKO'ing stuff like scizor, and threatening aegislash, jirachi, and tapu bulu.

changed to cloyster queen noivern btw

:ss/Cloyster: :ss/Nidoqueen: :ss/Noivern:

Cloyster @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Teleport
- Rapid Spin
- Icicle Spear

Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

Noivern @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Roost

This is basically a bulky hazard stacking core, with a more niche pick on Defensive Cloyster, which troubles some of Nidoqueen's checks such as Mamoswine, Crawdaunt and Krookodile, while setting up Spikes and providing Teleport and Rapid Spin support. Nidoqueen has a nice type synergy with Cloyster, as it resists Fighting and Rock for it, while Cloyster resists Water and Ice. Noivern is the glue of it, resisting Grass and those nasty special Water moves such as Hydro Pump from Keldeo, which ultimately destroys both of them.

Kommo-o is an provides an excellent resistance to Grass-types, while providing Stealth Rock. Poison Jab is nice coverage for Fairy-types that this core would struggle with.
Rhyperior is an absolutely devastating breaker, while also checking dangerous walls such as Galarian Slowbro, Chansey, and Reuniclus.
Rotom-Wash is a great utility Pokémon, providing burns against common physical attackers and pivoting with Volt Switch, while beating Ground-types for Rhyperior with Hydro Pump, for good synergy. 48 Speed EVs are to outspeed Primarina.

With the voting phase over, it's time to announce this week's winner! I'll be voting for Sickist to break the tie, so congratulations to Sickist for winning this week! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame ASAP!

With that out of the way, this week we'd like you guys to build a core around these types:

Normal

Steel
:jirachi:

Psychic
:jirachi::mew:

Normal- and Steel-types are weak to Fighting, which Psychic-types can deal with. Psychic-types weakness to Ghost is dealt with Normal's immunity to it, while Psychic's Bug weakness is dealt with by Steel-types. Make sure you take advantages of dual typings this week to help Steel's Fire and Ground and Psychic's Dark weaknesses!

You have until May 6th to submit your core!

reserving mew poryz and coba

:Porygon Z: :Cobalion: :Mew:

Porygon-Z @ Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Sleep Talk

Cobalion @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Volt Switch
- Stealth Rock

Mew @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Soft-Boiled
- Ice Beam
- Spikes

Porygon-Z is in my opinion a pretty underrated wallbreaker that can hit very hard with his Adaptability boosted Tri Attacks with Choice Specs. Cobalion helps bring it in thanks to Volt Switch while forming up a hazard stacking core with Mew, who sets up Spikes that can be abused by Porygon-Z.

Obstagoon @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Knock Off
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Cobalion @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower
- Soft-Boiled
- Spikes

Obstagoon breaks for Cobalion fairly well, and Cobalion can threaten pokemon that can handle Obstagoon, for the most part. Finally, Mew gives support through Spikes, checks fighters, as well as wear down bulkier pokemon such as Tangrowth.

Obstagoon @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Knock Off
- Close Combat
- Switcheroo

Indeedee-F (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Expanding Force
- Hyper Voice
- Mystical Fire
- Healing Wish

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Close Combat
- Flash Cannon
- King's Shield

Obstagoon provides perfect coverage with Facade, Knock Off, and Close Combat, as well as being a great status blocker. Switcheroo can be used for messing with other defensive Pokemon.
Indeedee-F is used over the male counterpart, due to the access to Healing Wish. Indeedee is still pretty powerful, thanks to Expanding Force (totally not broken btw), STAB Hyper Voice, and coverage for Steel-types in Mystical Fire. Choice Scarf is used to get a fast Healing Wish off.
Mixed Aegislash is an excellent breaker, breaking through common defensive staples such as Chansey and Galarian Slowbro. King Shield is a good way of punishing Knock Off from many Pokemon such as Krookodile. Aegislash also provides a key Fighting-type immunity for Obstagoon and Indeedee, for a better match up against them.

This core uses Obstagoon as the main breaker of the team and scizor and slowbro-g to clean up whatever is left after Obstagoon. Obstagoon pressures many pokemon such as moltres, amoonguss, tangrowth, celesteela, the rotoms, and rhyperior with guts boosted knock off and facade. But how does it get on the field? Does it not struggle to get in on offensive teams, well here is where scizor comes in, scizor takes advantage that many pokemon switch hard switch into it like Nihilego, Krookodile, Rhyperior, and Tapu Bulu will switch into Pokémon like moltres, amoonguss, rotom-heat and obstagoon can come in and break through. Scizor can also make opponents make uncomfortable decisions once slowbro-galar sets future sight up and makes Pokémon such as amoonguss, helmet tang, rotom-heat, and kommo-o are no longer comfotrable checks. Slowbro-g is the last member of the core as it sets up future sght and spreads poisons with sludge bomb to easy matchups for scizor and obstagoon such as salamence, rhyperior, and seismitoad. Future sight pairs so well with obstagoon as it hates fighting types and they are deterred from staying in as if they get it wrong and the Obstagoon player switches out they easily fall to Future Sight. It is also the main pivot against Thundurus, Salamence, Noivern, and Komm-o which otherwise heavile pressure the team
