UU are the only for me [UU RMT]

:toast: UU are the only for me :toast:

Hi everyone this is my first RMT on smogon so without any further ado lets get this show on
the road :D

Team Building Process

After previously building a team and failing, I decided to create a bigger and even better UU team. In my last match, with my previous team, I fell flat on my face because I let my opponent stack 3 layers of spikes, 2 layers of Toxic Spikes and also let them set up Stealth Rocks so my first order of business was a spinner. Hitmontop sprung to mind so he immediately clenched the first spot on my team.
237.png

I knew that Hitmontop had a quite high Sp.Def stat so I wanted a pokemon that could complement Hitmontop. It needed to have high Defence to make up my defensive core and access to either Aromatherapy or Heal Bell. With the realese of HG/SS alot more pokemon had access to Heal Bell so after going down the list I realised a certain cow fit the bill perfectly and with access to heal bell & milk drink miltank was the next member on my team.

Next stop sweepers...
Hmmm.... so many to choose from but I was really drawn towards Poliwrath. I knew of its bulky nature and it really fit well. So it secured the third place on my team. By now my team was lacking synergy so to work well with Poliwrath (and his water immunity) I chose Aggron as my second sweeper opting for the rock polish set with my twist.

Speed, something my team was in dire need of sooo... looking down the list....
Ah Swellow speed and power. Perfect, welcome to the team. It provided me with a nifty ground resistance (for aggron) and also gave the team super speed and power.

Now finally I need a pokemon that could spin block and give the team good overall synergy. So it had to be a ghost. Immediately looking at the list I realised the lack of ghosts in the UU tier, however one little chap named Spiritomb fit the bill perfectly and secured the coveted last place on my team. Well done Spiritomb! (also it's shiny xD)

So here's my team. I decided as a twist to put Aaggron as my lead as I have one big trick up my sleeve, which means he can take out many common leads and also function as a devastating sweeper. (more on that next :D)

So onto the team...

Aggron ♂ @ StonePlate|HardStone [Lead]
Ev's 252Atk/252Spe/4Def
Ability: RockHead
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
-Rock Polish
-Head Smash
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake

How It Fairs Against The Top 10 UU Leads
Against the top 10 leads, here's how Kabutops fares:

Ani478MS.png
Froslass
– One of two outcomes, either it sets up a layer of spikes and then I proceed to set up stealth rocks. If I think its going to taunt I hit it straight with a head smash. It should never really set up more than 2 layers of spikes.

Ani480MS.png
Uxie
– Usually I just proceed to rock polish, as it will usually just set up stealth rocks. If it is a trick variant I'm screwed, however if it is a dual screening one then I switch straight to Poliwrath to break the screens with brick break.

Ani424MS.png
Ambipom
– No Ambipom in the right mind would stay in and fake out, so I know that it is either going to switch or proceed to taunt. If I predict a switch then I have the option of rock polishing or stealth rocking (rock polish prepares me for a sweep and stealth rock for entry hazard damage and Moltres death xD.) Also an opposing Ambipom could Low Kick for 4x damage so I have to be wary.

Ani146MS.png
Moltres
– This one is a bit tricky... as we know Moltres are usually specially based so it will either OHKO with a fire-type move or switch. In this situation I can either head smash or switch. If the head smash is successful bye-bye Moltres. If it out-speeds and uses a fire-type move, then bye-bye Aggron. ):

Ani065MS.png
Alakazam
– Most are sashed so.. I can switch predicting an Energy Ball to the face or Stealth Rock expecting them to overpredict or I can Rock Polish to outspeed or just Head Smash/Earthquake to break its sash. If its scarfed or specs I can go straight for the Head Smash/Earthquake and hope and pray that it doesnt KO me with Energy Ball.

Ani101MS.png
Electrode
– meh... I dont fear any of its moves

Taunt: I can Earthquake
Thunderbolt: may damage but I can hit back with Earthquake
Explosion: (LOL) you would explode on a base 180 defence poke with 50 base attack and small Ev investment. I laugh in your face/ball.
RainDance: meh.. not too fussed
and Static can be solved by Miltanks Heal Bell
Ani139MS.png
Omastar
– Earthquake, Rock Polish, Stealth Rock in its face (or on the switch xD) spin away the spikes (if it got any up :l)

Ani449MS.png
Hippopotas
– Focus Sash Much! Anyway I appreciate the Sp.Def boost but the passive damage to my other pokes is so freakin annoying!Anyway, it'll probably Stealth Rock and I can Stealth Rock back or Rock Polish and proceed to sweep :) (stupid setup bait :P)

Ani464MS.png
Rhyperior
– hmmmm..... Stealth Rock? Rock Polish? or Earthquake straight for the 2HKO or switch (but tbh this scares me, it should be OU but 'cus of its gay typing it stays in UU -_-)

Ani091MS.png
Cloyster
– I can Stealth Rock as it proceeds to Spikes or Rock Polish or 2HKO (← I Think :l) with Head Smash. I doubt if it will explode on me (or Spiritomb for that matter.)

I hope this is enough explaining, Ev's are standard and the moveset is mine. :toast:

Spr_b_g4_237.png

Hitmontop ♂ @ Leftovers [Spinner]
Ev's 252HP/252Atk/4Def
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
-Foresight
-Close Combat
-Rapid Spin
-Rest

Guaranteed rapid spin much? anyway this guy rapes all spikers. Cloyster is 2HKO by Close Combat and Froslass is OHKO (after foresight) and also 2HKO on sashed or bulky variants. Rapid Spin to clear entry hazards, and I opted for Rest as it is awakened by Miltanks Heal Bell :D On all my teams i always need a bulky fighting type and this guy fits the bill well like stated in the above paragraph he has high Sp.Def meaning he can take special hits better than other fighting types.

Spr_b_g4_241.png

Miltank ♀ @ Leftovers [Physical Wall]
Ev's 252Hp/252Def/4Spe
Ability: Scrappy
Nature: Impish
Moveset:
-Seismic Toss
-Milk Drink
-Heal Bell
-Thunder Wave

Look.. I know Chansey does the Seismic Tossing job 54343736576354x better but look its a freaking cow xD. Heal bell because I have so many pokes with Rest and helps out with status altogether. Milk drink for recovery and T-wave to slow down stuff and provides support for my slower sweepers. On this set im thinking of giving him more Speed ev's so that he can outpace some incoming physical attackers and strike them with a thunder wave to slow them down to size.

Spr_b_g4_442_s.png

Spritomb ♂ @ Leftovers [Spin Blocker]
Ev's 252HP/196SpAtk/60Sp.Def
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Calm
Moveset:
-Calm Mind
-Will-o-Wisp
-Dark Pulse
-Rest

Ok so I made this specially bulky so that it lures physical attackers but picture the scenario, in switches a physical attacker, oh dear it got burned. Then on the switch proceed to Calm Mind to up Dark Pulses power and improve my special tankiness :D Rest solved by miltank (I ♥ Miltank). Although usually seen as lead this set workes remarkably well this guy is the glue in the team and offers much needed synergy.

Spr_b_g4_062.png

Poliwrath ♂ @ Lifeorb [Physical Sweeper]
Ev's 196HP/252Atk/64SpDef
Ability: WaterAbsorb
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
-Hypnosis
-Bulk Up
-Brick Break
-Waterfall

This set is inspired by Gallade who runs a similiar Hypnosis, Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Shadow Sneak set this is practically the same except theres no priority (in Shadow Sneak) and it lacks recovery (albeit small, from Drain Punch.) This works well and Water Absorb provides the team with a water immunity which helps Aggron greatly. I chose to go with hypnosis over encore as status is more important to me as there is only poliwrath on the team who can actually inflict the sleep status on opposing pokes.

Spr_b_g4_277.png

Swellow/[Lucia] ♀ @ ToxicOrb [Speed Sweep]
Ev's 252Atk/252Spe/4Hp
Ability: Guts
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
-Facade
-Brave Bird
-U.Turn
-Protect

Protect for Toxic Orb boost, facade is uber powerful and Brave Bird and U-turn round of the set :D simple. YES OMG i chose Protect over pursuit/quick attack because Miltank is forever Heal Belling so swellows status just keeps going it is neccassary on this set. I know i lack priority but deal with it :D

For the record, its quite popular on Ambipom to carry Low Kick, so you may want to be weary, also, some people may stay in and Fake Out just to be annoying.

On Hitmontop I would go Sucker Punch over Rest imo.

Poliwrath works good with Encore over Hypnosis, encore a move that doesn't hit you, then use Focus Punch assuming a switch or they stay in. Hypnosis' accuracy is just too bad.

Also, on Aggron, I would give him Leftovers, just for a little more survivability.

Thats all I have right now, no really glaring weaks, but I haven't played UU since P-Z and Cress first came in, so I might be missing something. I do notice off the bat though, that CM + 3 attacks Raikou tears through your entire team pretty easily.

He has no safe switch in for Raikou, sure, but he does have a check in Swellow. Ambipom isn't carrying Low Kick as much as it used to, anyway, so your pretty safe against it.

What I will recommend is pursuit on your Swellow over Protect. If the ghost switches from a 'predicted' Brave Bird they get hit by a Pursuit. In this way, your Hitmontop will have a much easier time with double ghost utilizing teams. Oh, and be sure to try to keep Aggron alive for the later stages of the match as it looks like your offense is pretty underwhelming and will probably fall apart without it. Swellow and maybe Spiritomb are the only ones I can really see sweeping, but Spikes and other hazards are going to hurt if you can't get rid of them with Hitmontop.

I think I'll keep protect as it can allow for scouting and activiation of my toxic orb also, as Miltank will be heal belling repeatedly its toxic will probably get cured aswell so I need protect there for this reason.

Im keeping rest on hitmontop as he will be taking lots of entry hazard damage and has no other means of recovery
Like you said Raikou poses a large threat to this team but i think if i play ot correctly i can score a ko on it also keeping item as hard stone but i am contemplating whether to use expert belt.
Hypnosis > Encore

I think Quick Attack over Protect on Swellow would be a better idea. Priority moves absolutely wreck Swellow so carrying one of your own would be pretty benificial & I recommend changing Swellow's nature to Jolly so it can outspeed +Nature Raikou's, Alakazam's, Duggy's, etc.

I agree with changing Protect over Quick Attack on Swellow -- you should be able to play around things like this through predicts and clean up kills from Swellow. If something is at low health on your opponent's team, you can simply use something like facade or brave bird, effectively killing off said pokemon and activating your Orb like that. Additionally, you carry Hypnosis on Poliwrath, so it should be a lot easier for you to be switching Swellow in. Quick Attack ensures you don't get screwed over by priority from something like Dugtrio who would otherwise like to Sucker Punch you and end your sweep a little early. And yeah, Jolly over Adamant is probably best against Zam, Raikou, and Duggy.

Your lack of a Moltres switch in is pretty huge, you are simply best off sacrificing a pokemon to bring in Swellow, which isn't too reliable at all. My suggestion to this would be what you yourself have pointed out, which is essentially Chansey over Miltank. "Because it's a freaking cow"... at least you should try Chansey out for the merits it provides for your team.

Essentially, Chansey would run the same set as your Miltank at the moment, with a few notable merits. Against Rain Dance teams, a pokemon like Gorebyss won't be plowing through your team any time soon, and pokemon like Raikou where you'd have to play around it, luring Calm Minds or Shadow Balls to get Swellow are walled by Chansey. Hitmontop with Intimidate is fine enough for physical bulkiness, apart from some stuff like Donphan there isn't much that you'd lose from Miltank that you would from Chansey, as Hitmontop beats most of those already.

Chansey @ Shed Shell
Calm 252 HP 252 SpD 4 Spe
Seismic Toss / Heal Bell / Thunder Wave / Softboiled

It's the same set as your Miltank but deals with what matters a lot in UU. Shed Shell is given to chansey so you don't get trapped by something like Dugtrio, and you can go to Swellow instead and deliver a quick attack. Against Physical threats, you should be fine considering you run Intimitop and WoW tomb. Overall, Chansey would provide more of a pivotal point to your team, and makes playing around threats a whole lot easier.

Good luck with your team.

With all of the ridiculously powerful Special Sweepers running around UU; Moltres, Raikou, Houndoom, Mismagius, and possibly LO Special Venusaur, and the plethora of mixed sweepers that are strong as well. You need more than a Specially Defensive Spiritomb (and Hitmontop because it will be taking a lot of entry hazard and switch-in damage) to handle them all, because most teams will probably have more than one pokemon that can hit on the Special side.
Physically, you're set with Milktank, Poliwrath and Aggron. Also a note on the Low Kicking Ambipoms, Aggron should invest it's speed evs into defense, because it won't be out speeding anything, and a Low Kick will do some heavy damage.

I think Quick Attack over Protect on Swellow would be a better idea

Like stated in post prior. If miltank uses heal bell the status on swellow dissapeares thus losing its guts boost. and i think i will try Jolly to outspeed zam, dug and the like

First of thanks for the rate it was rather helpful. but I think ill keep it as miltank for now
