What is Matchmaking ?

Like in real life, the purpose of UU Matchmaking's project is to find every week the best partner for a certain Pokemon.

How does it work ?

Every weeks, a Pokemon will be proposed and you will have to find it the best partner for. The partner that you nominate have to be listed in the USUM UU Viability Ranking. Your submission must include a description as to why your nomination is the best option for a partner. At the end of each week, there will be a vote and the winner will be added to an archive.

Rules ?

• Your submission has to be listed in the USUM UU Viability Ranking.
• Your submission must include a description as to why your nomination is the best parter for the listed Pokemon.
• Your description must be more than one sentence long. Please elaborate why it paired well with the chosen Pokemon.
• Only one submission per person per week.
You can submit the same Pokemon if the set is different of those who have already been posted.
• Do not post submissions that have already been posted.
Submissions will be open for about 4-5 days while voting phase will be open during 2-3 days according to the number of votes.

Primarina @ Choice Specs
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Cannon
- Moonblast
- Sparkling Aria
- Psychic

These two work amazingly together offensively. Primarina pressures bulky ground and steel types for Kommo-o to be able to sweep later. It also beats the fairy/dragon types which aim to check Kommo-o like Malt, Hydreigon etc. In turn Kommo-o pressures Blissey and Empoleon for it + checks the electric/grass types which would be a huge issue for it. Amoonguss is one of the biggest cucks to Prima, but thanks to Kommo-o having Overcoat it handles it very well. It is no mystery they have great synergy when it comes to beating eachothers checks and easing eachothers match-ups.

i hate you i wanted it

Nidoqueen @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 164 HP / 252 SpA / 92 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam

Nidoqueen is one of the best partner of Kommo-o DD. It pressures pretty well most of it's counters and checks (Gligar, Fairies, Scizor) while also offering the Rocks support it needs to score kills on the likes of Primarina / Altaria mostly :

+1 228 Atk Kommo-o Poison Jab vs. 92 HP / 0 Def Primarina: 294-346 (90.7 - 106.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+1 228 Atk Kommo-o Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Altaria-Mega: 210-248 (72.1 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

It can also catch off some RKs like Hydreigon or Latias thanks to its Ice-Beam but also pressure Scizor and cheaping it.

PUSHING 20. (Celebi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- U-turn
- Healing Wish
- Psychic

Scarf Celebi is good ;w;. In this case, it does a marvelous job of support Kommo-o by A. Giving it another chance to sweep with Healing Wish support and B. luring in Blissey and various Steel-types to set up on.

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Gunk Shot
- Knock Off
- Filler
Kommo-o hates dealing with various fairies within the tier, as well as faster scarfed dragons. Muk can bother the fairies by threatening them and chipping them with poison touch pursuits, putting them into Kommo-o range over time. Muk can also mess with Scarf Hydra, a common revenge killer by knocking off it's scarf, or even just chipping and potentially poisoning it with a pursuit. Muk is also fully capable of trapping Scarf Lati, another potential revenge killer for Kommo-o that it doesn't want to face.

Bisharp @ Assault Vest
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 188 HP / 236 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Bisharp is ideally Kommo-o's best friend. Being able to come in and dispatch most fairies is a godsend already, but Bisharp even traps Psychics for Kommo-o that it doesn't like such as Celebi and Latias. It also can remove Leftovers and Eviolite from things like Doublade, Gligar, and Primarina, which helps to wear things down for Kommo-o's initial sweep.

BREATHING FIRE. (Infernape) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot
- Vacuum Wave

What relevant mons stop Ape quickly? Starmie and Latias. Scarf sciz cucks these speedy psychics while still being able to annoy malt and maero for ape like usual. On mobile so lazy to pull sprite xd.

manectric-mega.png

Manectric-Mega @ Manectite
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Overheat / Flamethower
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Manectric and Scizor form the illustrious Volt-Turn core that annoys Groundless-Teams for days upon days, as well as generating a ton of momentum. Manectric is hopelessly walled by Latias and Hydreigon, which Scizor would usually switch into Latias fully and Hydreigon's Dragon STAB. However, with it being Scarf Scizor, it would suprise HP fire/Fire Blast variants of Hydreigon (non scarfed) by Uturning in their face, either severely damaging or outright killing these. With those dragons being removed, Mane is free to click Volt Switch/Tbolt/Overheat freely vs non-ground teams.

Hydreigon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- U-turn

Since Scizor is now the Scarfer, Hydreigon can now afford to wallbreak with the underrated af Specs set. It's pretty easy to bluff that Hydreigon and Scizor are both basic Scarf and Band in that respective order until you shock the opponent with the more unorthodox Choiced items. Scizor also can at least immediately switch into Latias and Mega Altaria a couple times in the match and still revenge kill these Pokémon. Just play it smart when using this core to not give away that your choice items are different than what they seem.

Crawdaunt @ Waterium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet

Big Boi Crawdaunt works really well with Scarf Scizor. Crawdaunts main issue is it being slow and thus susceptible to being revenge killed by Pokemon like Latias, Celebi, Starmie (T-bolt variants) etc. All of these can be dealt with effectively by scarf Scizor via Pursuit or U-turn. Scizor also invites in basically every steel / ground type as well as Pokemon like Moltres and Rotom-H all of which Crawdaunt threatens or forces out immediately. I chose the SD Daunt set as Latias, Celebi and non scarf Hydra are some of the biggest things stopping it just sweeping with SD Aqua Jet. Together they threaten a lot of eachothers checks and scarf Scizor should just make this thing sweep a lot easier. Scizor also can't break fat builds, while Daunt does this for it.

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Terrakion checks fire types like Moltres or Rotom-H, who would wall the scarf Scizor easily. Terra can be brought in easily with Scizors u-turn and then get a hard hit on something with the choice band. But it isn't only good for fighting fire types, because it can also check steel types like Empo, Magneton or even Maggron. While Scizor tries to lure and kill things with it's scarf, Terra can come in after every u-turn and get some heavy damage on some things or even on scizors counters. In exchange, scizor gets those psychic types and maybe some fairies. At the beginning you can always bluff the scarf on Terra and the band on sciz until the opponent realizes, because it would obviously be more common.

Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Synthesis
- Moonblast

Florges works nicely as a defensive partner for scizor, by helping to both keep it healthy and status free. Since scizor is choice locked and can't heal itself, florges is able to wish pass to it and help keep it accomplishing its job for longer. It can also heal bell away burns, allowing you to not care so much about u-turning on moltres, and allowing you to take risks such as taking scalds / thunder waves.

Florges is a nice wish passing partner for scizor in particular, as scizor is immune/resistant to the poison/steel type attacks that florges is weak to respectively. Florges over sylveon here as while sylveon would pass a fatter wish, florges can actually swap into a hurricane + z-hurricane from the moltres's that scizor hates.
