On an aside, after some time being extremely busy irl due to uni commitments and mental health, I'll be back to hosting tour nights more regularly now! Also due to our low number of tour nights this month, the leaderboard will last until the end of September so that an adequate number of games are played on it!

Keep an eye out on the timetable as I will be updating this regularly as new tours are scheduled!

Announcment regarding Prizes for tour nights!

As part of a recent PS update, https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/allow-room-owners-to-promote-to.3669018/post-8595565, The ability to promote to a new rank, (^), for prize winners has been added. This will replace the custom joinphrase prize that we offer, so now the winners of the monthly (or two-month long currently) leaderboard will have an option of choosing between,

  • Custom role colour in UU Discord.
  • (^) rank in UU room.
This month's leaderboard will end at the end of september, I will be updating the lleaderboard later tonight and will edit the current top 5 into this post when I do. Keep an eye out on the schedules in the UU room, (type /roomevents to see this) and here for further room events that are planned! (Note: due to current irl issues going on I may not be able to give much notice compared to other tours, but will be hosting these in active hours, and will be announcing in UU room whenever I add something to the schedule for later that day)

:lycanroc-dusk:Friday 18th September Seminar :lycanroc-dusk:
hosted with faded love

What are lycanroc’s best qualities? What about these qualities make it banworthy to some? Do any flaws stick out?

The main traits of Lycanroc that were brought up were it's above average power, solid speed stat, along with its perfect coverage, but Lycanroc is still rather frail and relies on pivots to get in mostly. Luckily for it, UU isn't short of pivots by any means.

Lycanroc's amazing coverage leaves very few switchins that are not punished by coming in on the wrong move-- mainly Doublade and Colbur Palossand given the rest are more questionable in viability (Tangela, Quagsire, and Mudsdale). While being frail, it can still take a hit from a weaker pokemon, this gives it more opportunities to Swords Dance or be more aggressive. In addition to Sword Dance taking advantage of those assuming AoA Lycanroc, AoA Lycanroc does not even have to stick to the same four moves. For example, Iron Head has seen more usage for Galarian Weezing and Sylveon on some teams.

With all the pivoting options in UU, Lycanroc is easily enabled to apply pressure-- such as Flip Turn Keldeo getting Lycanroc in on Noivern. Teammates are rather plentiful for Lycanroc but answers like Skarmory, Colbur/Scarf Jirachi, etc. have left recently. New additions like Zarude simply don't make things hard enough for it. Thus, between the pivoting and synergy with hazards, the Lycanroc user typically has the advantage even with it being frail.

Has lycanroc been very annoying while in the builder, are compromises with Chople Cobalion enough to warrant it leaving?

Lycanroc's dominance has caused for the rise of things like Chople Cobalion and Colbur Palossand. Some found it helpful in the builder in the current offensive meta. Lycanroc, while a threat in itself, has been proven to be a solid response to other goons disliked-- mainly Polteageist and Mimikyu. Though others still believed how easily Lycanroc could clean up games compared to others in the tier was still too much. People pro-ban acknowledged it could easily be reintroduced during DLC 2.

Thanks everyone who participated! Looking forward to seeing how the suspect turns out, does not seem to be clear cut.

August and September Tour Nights Leaderboard

Player NameWinsRunner-UpsSemi-FinalistsPoints

Amukamara5318
Moutemoute4216
avarice23315
senegal31213

Congratulations to everyone who came top 5 in the leaderboard! As I came first place this time, we will also be offering the second place Amukamara a choice between a custom Discord role colour or Prize winner rank (^) in PS room. Lemme know in UU Disc which one you'd prefer.

October Tour Nights
For October, as it has been requested quite a bit, we will be following PU and including a Playoffs Stage towards the month, most likely starting on the week beginning 26th October. This will feature the Top 8 players on the leaderboard, (this may be extended to Top 16 closer to the time depending on the leaderboard), playing in Bo3 series over all UU generations, starting with a fixed SS game, with the loser picking the next tier.

As always make sure to check out both the Timetable in this thread, and the roomevents calender in the UU room (visible by typing /roomevents) to make sure you are aware of when these Tour Nights will be happening!

Thursday 1st October Seminar

What do you think of Zarude in the current metagame ?

Most people agreed that Zarude is a great Pokemon which can check a lot of Pokemon like Slowbro/Slowking, Polteageist etc.. while being able to weaken Pokemon thanks to either U-turn / STABs or coverage. Some people also highlighted the fact that Zarude is actually quite annoying to wear down thanks to Heavy-Duty Boots and its great bulk. Its access to Synthesis / Jungle Healing also helps it a lot to stay healthy. Some people mentionned that its lack of a useful ability is kinda annoying but others answered that with another ability, Zarude may not be Underused.

Weezing-Galar, Noivern, Cobalion and Umbreon are the Pokemon mentionned when I asked about the way to handle Zarude. It was also mentionned that most of its checks were pretty weak to the core of Zarude + Future Sight user which is a really good and used core in the current metagame. Most people agreed that Boots Zarude is its best set (either AoA or Jungle Healing/Synthesis + 3 attacks).

What Pokemon benefits from Lycanroc-Dusk ban ? Have you tried one of them ?

Fire-types seems to be the Pokemon which enjoy the most Lycanroc-Dusk ban. Indeed Pokemon such as Centiskorch, Chandelure, Salazzle and Talonflame have been mentionned. Another Pokemon which have been talked a lot is Terrakion which was kinda in the shadow of LycanDusk because of it's lower speed and worst coverage. Now that LycanDusk is gona, Terrakion seems to be a top pick.

Flying-types such as Noivern and Scyther have also being mentionned as Pokemon which benefit from LycanDusk ban. I also talked about the fact that I tried Ninjask on the ladder and the fact that it's overall a meme-mon because of its lack of bulk and sheer force. JustFranco also mentionned that glass cannons such as Sharpedo really enjoyed the fact that Lycanroc-Dusk is gone since it was able to revenge kill it almost from full with LO Accelerock. Fusion Flare also mentionned Polteageist even tho he also said that Zarude usages is tough for it. 467 11 11p mentionned LycanDusk cousin as a good pick for a Suicide Lead.
arabesque-png.216716
Bonus topic : what do you think we may get tomorrow with shifts ?

People mentionned Pokemon which rose because of OLT such as Necrozma, Skarmory, Toxtricity or Hatterene.
Other said we might be able to get new toy such as Mew or Azumarill. Scizor was also talked about even tho most people agreed that it would probably not happen like other Pokemon mentionned such as Ferrothorn or Urshifu-R. Last but not least, some people said that we could maybe get Crawdaunt back in UU.

Thanks to all the participants for their contributions. See you next time for a brand new seminar !

:klefki: Friday 9th October Seminar :slowbro:
hosted with faded love

How's klefki in the current meta game?

It was decided Klefki is still stuck as only setting up spikes, and just is outclassed by Grimmsnarl for screens support. Cheesy Calm Mind Iron Defense sets are overpowered too easily too. Not to mention Klefki competes with Froslass and other spikes setters like Roserade. However, Klefki's typing heavily bolsters its viability being able to provide some role compression. Klefki can also use more exploration. Flash Cannon, Switcheroo, and Magnet Rise were all mentioned. Flash Cannon has decent damage and nails Galarian Weezing. Switcheroo has a few options with Flame Orb, Toxic Orb, and Sticky Barb. Though, like Mygrein mentioned it can't touch the Dark-types that can annoy keys like Incineroar. Magnet Rise is not new, and is solid against Mamoswine like last generation. Overall, Klefki appreciates the lack of Rhyperior but still faces issue.

Some partners that were mentioned by faded love for Klefki were Mimikyu, Golurk, and Mienshao. More examples were Obstagoon, Sharpedo, Bisharp, Necrozma and Virizion who all can take advantage of spikes.

How's Slowbro currently?

Nobody disagreed that Slowbro was the best pokemon in UU. It was highlighted how consistent Teleport especially with Boots to evade hazards. It is often in the Slowbro user's favor to make risky plays. Even with Knock Off, the hazards can not make too much progress against Slowbro-- bar Toxic Spikes. Zarude and Obstagoon were the first answers mentioned. In general, voltturn mons like Rotom-C were praised for keeping up pressure against Slowbro balance. Strong ghost-types such as Golurk, Marowak, and Chandelure were nice options as well.

Slowbro certainly could use more exploration. Cheese like weather setter and Trick Room work with Teleport nicely and have seen a good amount of usage (mostly Trick Room). Some others moves that have potential are Thunder Wave, Ice Beam, Calm Mind, Yawn and Trick. Nasty Plot is just done better by Galarian Bro. Thunder Wave is nice for crippling offensive checks. Ice Beam is a reliable coverage move that can OHKO Noivern and chunk Zarude. Calm Mind can be a surprising win con. Yawn can be neat with Teleport as it forces switches or gets a sleep for easy set-up. Trick can randomly cripple things but means not running broken Heavy Duty Boots-- basically between Specs or Scarf. In conclusion, Slowbro is a reliable top tier mon with more room to be explored.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the seminar :)
