UU Simple Questions Thread

blastoise is not a spin blocker

in other news what the fuck was I smoking

Is sub/roost/sucker punch/brave bird honchkrow with lefties viable in UU?
I'd much rather use Life Orb on a Pokemon as frail as Honckrow and the recoil damage is not really a problem if running Roost (the boost to Sucker Punch is notable too). That said using SubRoost Honchkrow is certainly viable

Building a UU Team around scarfed Hydreigon and need a physical wall that resists fighting, fairy or psychic pokemon, and who? Prefer recovery and possibly heal bell

Slowbro is a great physical wall resisting fighting and psychic and neutral to fairy. Only pokemon in uu resisting all 3 types is Victini.

How viable is Frosslass as a spike stacker? I'm trying to build a more offensive team but I keep losing to stall, and I think spikes might help in wearing down walls.

So I have a Grass Fire Water core in the form of Banded Victini, AV Bro, and LO Shaymin. I like it so far but if there is is there a better three I could use or are they good enough?

SotheBlacKnight there are offensive cores and defensive cores for FWG. The only issue with Tini and Slowbro is that they share all the psychic weaknesses and dark types like Houndoom can tear that core apart very quickly, even with AV on slowbro. CroCune would be good in place of AV slowbro. Banded Victini and Air Slash LO Shaymin can make quick work of CroCune's counters: Toxicroak, Cacturne, Slowbro, etc.. Suicune is both defensive, but an offensive sweeper at the same time.

A more defensive FWG core could consist of Slowbro, Amoongus, and Defensive Arcanine. Another offensive core can be Mega Houndoom, SD/NP Celebi and Specs Empoleon. There are plenty of options to choose from. Just make sure that the secondary typing is covered as well.

To improve on Patrick 1088's reply:
I made a team with a solid FWG core of SubPetaya Empoleon, NP MegaDoom, and SD Celebi. The key is to use their weaknesses to your advantage. If their only check on their team to SD Celebi is Victini, you need Houndoom to kill it so Celebi can sweep. Very few teams have a counter to all those. Celebi should use LO/SD/Sucker Punch/Seed Bomb/Zen Headbutt and Adamant. Iirc, +2 LO Sucker Punch 1HKOs Victini.
252+ Atk Life Orb Celebi Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Victini: 208-247 (60.9 - 72.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
A Good defensive core I used was CM Celebi/Intimidate Arcanine/Swampert. Really amazing what power a WoW/Morning Sun set has, not to mention how well Celebi can dish hits out with Psychic and Giga Drain or pass to Arcanine or Swampert so they can have special defense. Hope I helped!

Frosslass is still a good suicide spike stacker for Hyper Offensive teams. Great speed, spinblocks for its own spikes and can take something down with it. Though it will generally only get up 2 layers or 1 layer and a Pokemon with Destiny Bond. Here is the set:

Frosslass@Focus Sash
Timid 252 HP or 252 SpA (if running an attacking move) / 252 Spe
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- You choice

Ran into toxic stall Umbreon on Showdown UU earlier with protect, sub, toxic and moonlight. The guy I was facing says its pretty standard in UU but I have been laddering in UU on Showdown for the last few weeks and I have never encountered it(all the Umbreon's are clerics/wishpassers). The rest of his team wasn't stall oriented so I wondered, is full toxic stall Umbreon standard?

I've honestly never seen SubToxic Umbreon before, it's almost always a cleric in my experience. Heck, I barely even see cleric umbreon with Toxic, it almost always carries Foul Play.

The Xerneas King no subtoxic umbreon isnt the standard. Wish protect foul play heal beal calm nature 0 atk ivs is the standard. You could run a subtoxic set though if you have a cleric other than umbreon. You cluld also run curse umbreon as well, but i donr think its too viable imo..

Usually thunder wave or icy wind right? Like the 5th gen set?

Why is Blissey tiered in UU while Chansey is in OU? What are the main differences that led to this split in usage?
Actually a great example of how much better Chansey is to Blissey is this:
252+ Atk Machamp Dynamic Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 650-768 (91 - 107.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Mienshao High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 750-884 (105 - 123.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 821-970 (114.9 - 135.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
vs.
252+ Atk Machamp Dynamic Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 474-560 (67.3 - 79.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Mienshao High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 548-648 (77.8 - 92%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 601-710 (85.3 - 100.8%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

These are some of the best fighting type attacks in UU and Blissey is OHKO'd by all these but Chansey has a chance to take these attacks, that's some scary bulk.

Hm didn't think it was standard, wasn't planning to run it or anything(as I don't like stall) but I wondered if somehow I had missed all the toxic stall Umbreon's. Guess this guy didn't know what he was talking about lol.

Due to disliking stall, i started to try and make an offensive frosslass based team. The main problem is the lack of spin/defog blockers. Tornadus/milotic are underwhelming (sorry, based braviary), and im finding that every spin blocker is loosing to mega blastoise (sableye lacks synergy with the team and cant touch m-toise).

SO on those team what are the best hazard keepers (if thats a phrase)? do you just use offensive momentum?

General offensive momentum would suffice. Defog blocking just sucks and nothing spinblocks toise really. Remember that UU is full of nukes like Tini and Hydrei as well as dangerous set up sweepers in Haxorus and Luke so you should be able to keep Blastoise too busy attacking then spin.

Ok, thanks. I know ou and ru try to run spin blockers.

look at the RMT in my sig

that's pretty much the only way to do it effectively

I tried to make an offensive team after seeing your rmt, but i dont deny shameless self-advertising. I was gonna end up stealing a team anyway

How do you beat Haxorous?
Play hyper offense I guess or out speed its Dragon Dance set (97 base x1.5, 483). Nas said in his vote for UU that scarfers like Hydreigon and Mienshao can revenge kill it and someone mentioned a few physical walls (Aggron, Slowbro, Suicune, Hippowdon) can roar it out or get Ice Beam to OHKO it. It could carry Lum Berry so one status effect isn't going to stop it.
