UU Simple Questions Thread

Virizion is good unless Mega Absol is packing Play Rough, and you can't switch in on Honchkrow because Brave Bird could mess you up.

Because a fair portion of people like the idea of Sticky Web teams and it is probably the best Sticky Web setter for the purpose of those teams, but Galvantula and the playstyle in general aren't very strong. I don't think I have seen any of the top players use Galvantula, and there are a few more reasons as to why.

Because lower ladder players really like gimmicks and Galvantula/Sticky Web is the gimmick of choice for a lot of them, but a) Sticky Web isn't particularly good in this tier because a lot of top threats aren't grounded + we have tons of good spinners and defoggers in the tier + popular stall and balance teams just aren't bothered by losing speed, and b) Shuckle is a more reliable setter of Sticky Web anyway.

Dammit ninja'd

Best Hawlucha check that doesn't give away too much momentum? (it's for an HO team)

I would say Fletchinder followed by Sash Alakazam those are about the best fits I can see for an HO, this is taking Unburden boost into account since prior should be easier to check with existing scarfers or speed tiers. That or fit something in that baits HJK and use protect, this probably wouldn't dampen your momentum.

Thanks a lot, but what Fletch set would you suggest?

Fletch has literally 1 set - itemless acrobatics will-o-wisp swords dance roost, 252 atk, enough speed to outspeed max speed adamant honchkrow (I think it's 104?) and the rest in health.

This is a bit difficult considering that CM Zam kinda fucks up its usual counters (+1 252 SpA Alakazam Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 364-430 (50.9 - 60.2%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery) but I'll give you a couple of things to try out. SpDef Hippowdon can easily take all of even boosted Alakazam's attacks and either phaze it out or hit it with a strong Earthquake ; if you don't mind using a sorta niche Pokemon Escavalier is probably your best bet, as it takes little from Shadow Ball and can Pursuit trap it. For offensive checks I've found that Pursuit Mega Aerodactyl can do in a pinch - Psyshock hurts but Pursuit has a chance to OHKO even if it stays in (obviously you need to have already mega evolved).

Meloetta is a great answer to Alakazam. Relic song sets outspeed if Jolly and OHKO with Knock Off, Standard assault vest takes any hits.

steal a team and play it. look at the viability rankings for a decent idea of what's good. look at the usage stats for ideas of what moves mons use.

there's no shortcuts to learning a tier.
Nope, experience is what matters but a tip never hurt.

Biggest offensive threats ATM are Hydreigon and Victini, and thus every team should have an answer for them. Most used megas are Aerodactyl, Blastoise and Absol. Easiest archetypes right now are balance (offensive dudes w/ a few defensive pivots), and offense, especially with the current retest, Hawlucha (new retest after next tier shift, ask kokoloko if you have questions about the banning system).

I hope you enjoy your stay in the best XY tier.
Thanks! I read this post after I nearly got half my team knocked out by Victini. Only won because I had a M-Aerodactyl myself.[/quote]

Absol / Mega Absol

- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass

I was able to breed a 31/31/31/31/31/31 -- my first since I started playing again a couple weeks back (missed Gen 5 entirely). Absol's probably my favorite Pokemon and I'd like to use him, but I need some suggestions about physically offensive BP receivers that will have a good synergy with him.

Basically, I'm trying to put together an offensive core around this. I've been away for so long that I need help with ideas.

Thank you.

A fire type would work well. People often switch in fairy types to wall Absol so passing to something that resists fairy is probably best.
