UU Threat lists

No we're really not ... and Wailord's ability to sweep in OU is not really relevant, as its a completely different environment. In UU Wailord can be good, however it is not something that people consider countering when building teams, nor is it used frequently enough to have generated any sort of "buzz". Hence it being discounted from the list.

Plus there are more Water Absorbers in UU to stop Water Spout (Politoad/Wrath/Quagsire/Mantine/Toxicroak, etc.), while in OU there is pretty much only Vaporeon, not to mention the abundance of Grass Pokemon in UU.

Plus Lapras can hit hard with Thunderbolt against Wailord, making it literally, the perfect counter..

Its nice to see Toxicroak on the list :)

one of my new fav pokes by far.

I run the special version in OU, and i was surprised on how effective it was.

Spikes - IMHO not nearly as effective as in OU. The more rapid pace of the environment, and general frailty of most of the spikers, means less opportunity to set up.

Stealth Rock - used less than it perhaps should be, but just as deadly. Just consider the offensive threats that it hits for SE damage (Scyther, Altaria, Ninetales, Pinsir, Venomoth ...)

Toxic Spikes - worse than regular spikes, given the number of viable poison pokemon just waiting to absorb them.

Consider CLoyster/Omastar. They are definetly good users.

I've discussed this with some other members of staff, and we've decided this would make a great addition to the "On the Defensive" and "How to Keep our RMT Fire Ablaze" announcements in the RMT forum (for those who've never viewed them, they're essentially defensive threat lists and offensive threat lists respectively, designed to assist people in their team-building).

The only real concern that was raised is whether or not the UU metagame has been established enough yet. I've been out of UU for some time, but I do remember it as being fairly sporadic and unsettled; most teams were a random assortment of favourites and others were gimmicks. Do you feel the metagame is now established enough to do something like this?

I feel personally UU has settled enough to make safe judgements to create these threat lists and the current ongoing reshuffling of BL's/UU will be the only extra factors at the moment. Usuage alone has been fairly consistant for the past few months now indicating some stablity now. Many others could've been added to these lists like Kecleon, Mr.Mime, Aggron and Golem but they've been consistently low in usuage for the last 3 or so months or have shown they just offer a different flavour of something already available.

Only warning to take into account if you feel like taking onboard these threat lists is that it does not take into account the recent new bans/UU's. Pinsir and Scyther will likely have to be editted out and the new UU's are more than likely capable of making the threat list.

I find myself agreeing with Forsety ...

There are definitely apparent trends regarding useage and even strategies, which are obvious even without useage statistics to verify them.

Experimentation (and gimmick teams) have become increasingly rare, and tend to be limited to those battlers already familiar with UU, and relish the challenge of taking on it's top tier pokemon with the likes of Ariados and Wigglytuff.

Although if there is still concern perhaps it would be an idea to look over the more recent UU RMT's to see what, if any, noticable patterns emerge to support or discount this theory.

^ Good point, though we can't exactly place the new additions based off of usage as they haven't had much time to be tested yet. Pinsir should be eliminated though.
