[SET]
name: Cursesaur
move 1: Curse
move 2: Power Whip/ Seed Bomb
move 3: Earthquake / Return
move 4: Synthesis / Rest

item: Leftovers
nature: Careful
evs: 208 HP / 48 Atk / 252 SDef

Why this set deserves to be on-site:
- Trades speed for Bulk, can take a hit or 2 unlike the SD version.
- There isn't a set like this already.
- UU Curselax.
- One of the best counters for the common Milotic (can even be used as set up bait if it doesn't have Haze).

Additional Comments:
- Power Whip is for power, Seed Bomb is for accuracy.
- Synthesis is decent but doesn't cure status, Rest does.
- Return so you can hurt grass types, Earthquake to do more against Fire- and Steel types.
- Leech Seed can be used, preferably over Synthesis.
- EV spread of 252 HP, 4 Atk, 252 SDef is also viable.
- This set was originaly created by FizzyStardust.

Teammates and Counters:
- Venusaur can counter Bulky Waters with ease, being immune to Toxic. So pokemon who are walled by Bulky Waters make great teammates, eg. Houndoom, Magmortar, ..., Altaria pairs up great as wall with access to Heal Bell to cure status.
- Rhyperior is a good option as a teammate if you decide to run Return, to threaten Steel types with a STAB Earthquake.
- Ironicly enough Bulky Waters (Milotic, ...)make great teammates for this Venusaur. They cover Fire types if Venusaur didn't have the time to set up.
- Moltres takes no damage from Earthquake and is 4x resisted against Power Whip.
- Absol can be troublesome since it has SL and crits can hit through the defense boost.
- Arcanine can still OHKO Venusaur even when it's at +2.

Looks pretty cool.

Pretesting notes:

- This set can't do anything to Moltres or Altaria.

- Weak to status minus toxic.

- Limited recovery.

- Pretty cool looking set :)

Will test soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

I shall slash in Rest so Venusaur can take status and it's recovery isn't limited.

Wow I really like this set. Can you please explain the evs, I'm still pretty new and maybe I'm looking over it.

seems to be a great set, definitely want to try it out.

also i dont know if this suggestion will work but might as well suggest it to see opinions on it. you could slash sleep talk in with earthquake or simply just mention it in oo. sleeptalk would fix venasaurs status issue and in exchange for coverage.

just a thought, if i were to use this set, i would use what you have listed above

I used a set like this before, but it was a mono-attacker with Sleep Powder over Earthquake. That way if Haze Milotic or Weezing or something tries to be a bitch you can put it to sleep real quick and continue boosting. That does give you issues with other Venusaur and Arcanine, however. I would also recommend Return over Earthquake anyway, mostly because I don't think hitting Registeel and Arcanine harder isn't worth losing coverage on Tangrowth, Leafeon, Moltres, Altaria, etc. But yeah, this looks like an interesting set :)

Would Power Whip/ Rest/ Sleep Talk/ Curse using a sp. defensive spread be viable at all?

Gives you a decent switch into opposing Venusaur.

Trick users destroy you already, and Black Sludge gives another item to trick.

EDIT: Articanus' set is hardly a reliable switch-in to Venusaur, even at +6 I can't see Power Whip scrimmaging more than a 3HKO which is easily outdone by Synthesis.

I tested a Rest-Talk version today and to be really honnest I doesn't do that good. Rest could be used to help against status but Venusaur actually only minds a Burn tbh. Power Whip as the only attack move isn't good either. So Rest is an option but it's best used without Sleep Talk.

And Issaaacc, I know Fizzy suggested Black Sludge instead of Leftovers but like ThePowerWithin said it doesn't make a difference.

Hi guys, I'm FizzyStardust as I am known elsewhere, and I am the creator of this set. So I thought I'd poke my head in and talk about it a little bit.

SD vs Curse: I really like stuff that can tank through teams. While you notice an immediate drop in power, you get a huge boost in your defensive stats, you will be able to take unstabbed super effective hits like they are nothing. Allowing you to set up and heal off damage so you can start tanking through your opponents team.

Leftovers vs BlackSludge: It doesn't matter all that much. If you get tricked It just depends on whether you want to give them black sludge and bank on the fact they wont be able to trick it back on something on your team that will hinder it, or try to get it back on venusaur, or just suck it up and let them have leftovers, it doesn't really matter either way.

Rest version: While I find this intriguing, I don't think Venusaur can pull it off. He he can take a few hits, but he is likely to get scared out on the turn you rest. But the fact that you can get rid of status may be worth it, I just don't think you'd be able to use rest effectively unless you are positive you've taken out his counters. I am going to stand firm and say a ResTalk version would not work, you really need a coverage move on him. If you do go rest, throw chesto on him.

Earthquake vs Return: I prefer EQ, but you'd be a fool not to consider Return. Return will probably give you better coverage in UU, but since I used this in OU I chose EQ since there were so many steel types running about.

Your biggest counters are going to be moltres and altaria. Altaria can't do much to you, but you can't do much to it either unless you are running return, which like I said in UU you really should. For Moltres, if you are using this venusaur, give him rocks support, it rips apart his counters, that way you wont mind getting forced out by these two.

Teammates: Something that can take WoW and fire attacks, this is your biggest fear. Bulky Arcanine would make an excellent pair with venusaur, or a sweeper like houndoom who has access to flash fire. I've found that altaria is also a great partner with venusaur, it has access to toxic to wear down opponents, take on fire attacks, and has access to heal bell in case you do catch an unexpected status.

I think that is just about everything I wanted to touch on. I'll keep checking back.

OMG Fizzy's Venasaur! Basically, I tested this a lot on Shoddy and there was a bit of EV editing before the final set was officially made. I seriously don't have much more to say than Fizzy apart from one big thing, back when Latias wasn't Uber, it'd give it troubles in OU. The formerly common specs Latias' typing, ability and special power was a punch in the nuts, but now that it's Uber, it's all the better for this masterpiece.

It can be used in OU and UU, I didn't actually try Return over Earthquake at all, so the occasional sight of Altaria was annoying. Moltres was a bit more common, but it's usually seen in the early going, so I try and take it out before attempting to set up, also, SR is ideal if using this. One more thing, it catches people of guard, allowing it to set up even more easily.

Throwing something in. You could also run body slam over return. Get the para hax so you can still be faster than your opponent.

This is really nitpicky stuff, but
1. Make the text of the post bigger please >.<
2. Generally move orders for sets like these are "Boosting Move" "STAB" "secondary Moves" "Recovery". So the order would be better like this:

name: CurseSaur
move 1: Curse
move 2: Power Whip
move 3: Earthquake / Return
move 4: Synthesis / Rest

3. CurseSaur doesn't come out very well. I would just call it a Curse set.

You might slash in Sleep Powder next to Earthquake/Return. It can make setup a helluva lot easier, and it works better with entry hazzards. I tested it on Shoddy for a while, and it definitely deserves to be mentioned.

Seed Bomb probably doesn't deserve a mention, but it'd be an option on more defensive sets for its higher PP/accuracy compared to Power Whip.

Finally, as el fizz pointed out, Body Slam is an option for the Paralysis chance if you're not running Sleep Powder.

You can say that seed bomb is an option if it makes it to the next stage and you have to write an analysis.
