Assist can't choose certain moves so Dark Void is the only move on the opposing pokémon that could be chosen. This strategy with Liepard is known as Void Cats. As for checks/countersQuestion here about Assist. Do you choose what move you Assist? Also, how do you stop Liepard+Smeargle Assist+Dark Void? Don't tell me that I should just go for them missing, because would you have Scald burns as your only way to beat Kangaskhan? No, you wouldn't.
But can you choose which Pokemon you Assist the move from, or is that random too?Assist can't choose certain moves so Dark Void is the only move on the opposing pokémon that could be chosen. This strategy with Liepard is known as Void Cats. As for checks/countersthere are nonefast Thundurus can Taunt Liepard, fast Talonflame can hit before Liepard, and Lum Berry Terrakion can Double Kick Liepard. Also Quick Guard might work but I'm not sure. I do know Wide Guard doesn't work though :(
It's all completely random. But can you choose which Pokemon you Assist the move from, or is that random too?
the teams general means of offense is m-lucario's/conkeldurr's focus punch and ditto's random transform, and they don't run other moves. smeargle also runs transform, except it gets to pick what it changes into.Question here about Assist. Crafty Shield. Klefki still has some merit in Doubles, imo, if only to tear down stupid shit like VoidCats and pretty much everything else involving Prankster.Question here about Assist. I'd say toss. As a general rule of thumb, if the boosted stat isn't 31 toss it. Also these kind of questions are better suited for the Wi-Fi forum imo.Should I keep this Suicune? Is it okay for VGC purposes? I would've definitely kept if the Defense was 28+.
Bold, 31 / 20-23 / 26-27 / 31 / 31 / 31
Yeah, toss. Boosted stat should always be 31, unless it is 30 because of a good Hidden Power. Questions like these should always go in this thread in the Wifi forum.Should I keep this Suicune? Is it okay for VGC purposes? I would've definitely kept if the Defense was 28+.

Thank you both! And I will keep that in mind next time. My apologies.Yeah, toss. Boosted stat should always be 31, unless it is 30 because of a good Hidden Power. Questions like these should always go in this thread in the Wifi forum.
Most Steels in VGC actually take more damage from T-bolt than HP Fire, since only Excadrill resists Thunderbolt. STAB Thunderbolt = 135 power, SE HP Fire = 120 power. Scizor is rare, Ferrothorn, if you don't have a set counter on your team yet, shits on TR pretty hard so run HP Fire if you need Ferrothorn checked. HP Fire/Ice is shit against Amoonguss so don't count it as a counter.I have a question with Magnezone. I have been working on a trick room team and my team overall lacks offense. Never thought too bulky would be a bad thing.
Anyway with Magnezone I see a mix between most builds of HP Fire or HP Ice. I am working on a HP Fire build and wondering which HP might be more useful?
I was thinking Fire helps out against all Steel types I trap, but HP Ground could also be used, unless it is a rare Bronzong. I should mention that I am playing mainly in the VGC format. HP Ice I only really see being useful against Garchomp, any Dragon really, but I have been running Mega Altaria when I see Dragons.
Long story short, Doubles, Trick Room, Magnezone, HP Fire, HP Ice, HP Ground?

HP Ice... tbh, just run Sylveon/Altaria, Hyper Voice is a lot better at dragonslaying than HP Ice.
So imo, fire, unless you are crazy desperate against Landog/Garchomp/MegaMence.
As for HP Ground: It sucks, don't bother.
252+ SpA Expert Belt Magnezone Hidden Power Ground vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 173-206 (87.3 - 104%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
0 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Magnezone: 188-224 (106.2 - 126.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Adamant is probably good but it probably won't be allowed as it's base stats are so high.I am going to get Giratina now and in the case that Legends become available in the future but still require the pentagon, I might as well try to get a good one. If Giratina was legal this season, what would be a good nature? I have no experience with it in VGC and while I can guess, it would be better to see what others have to say.
Looking at either Adamant or Jolly?
Will-o-wisp and thunder wave are always useful moves for rotom. For a bulky max HP, max SpAtk Rotom-F (Frost) on a Hail team.
I was thinking to run
Blizzard
Thunderbolt
Protect What would be good final move.
Thank you.
Rhyperior is good in trick room teams. Rock Slide, Earthquake, and either Ice Punch or Superpower. He's good in sun teams as well, though I think most people prefer Lightningrod Rhydon for that, to redirect electric attacks off of charizard. So guys I was thinking of running Rhyperior beacause it looks great. I'm running Sassy Assault Vest. Here is the problem. Should I run him in sun or in sand. Sand buffs that weak special defense but sun removes one of his X3 weaknesses (Solid Rock) If both work could you give me a good SpDef spread for each. Help is appreciated
Rhyperior is not really the best check to Trick Room. It gets Spored by Amoonguss, and a lot outslows it. For Trick Room checks I would suggest Escavalier or Amoonguss.OK Thanks is it viable to run non Trick Room Rhyperior maybe to stop Trick Room.
I think it's still worth calcing for it, considering a lot of rotom-w EV themselves to survive that solar beam.Try surviving rotom-w hydro pump in the sun, if that's possible... Actually, don't bother with that, you can solar beam Rotom-w.
