beedrill-mega.gif

Beedrill @ Beedrillite
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off / Drill Run

Beedrill can switch into any of Serperior's moves (with the exception of Hidden Power) and mega evolve. After mega evolving, Beedrill's ability and high attack stat allow it to OHKO Serperior with both of its STAB moves.

However, if Serperior has acquired boosts, Beedrill loses many switch-in opportunities. At +2, it can no longer switch in to Dragon Pulse, and Hidden Power is a guaranteed OHKO, and if it gets any more than that, then Beedrill can only switch into Giga Drain.

Offensive:
252 Atk Adaptability Mega Beedrill U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Serperior: 356-420 (122.3 - 144.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Adaptability Mega Beedrill Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Serperior: 408-480 (140.2 - 164.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Mega Beedrill Drill Run vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Serperior: 51-60 (17.5 - 20.6%) -- possible 5HKO

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Charizard can switch into any of Serperior's moves (with the exception of Dragon Pulse if hazards are up), Mega Evolve, and 1HKO with Fire Blast. Roost allows Charizard to heal any damage it may have received, but Serperior's higher speed gives it fewer opportunies to do so.

Offensive:
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Serperior in Sun: 650-768 (223.3 - 263.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Serperior: 79-93 (27.1 - 31.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail
- Fire Fang

Because of Aerodactyl's natural typing and Speed, it is a great check to Serperior. It can switch in on any unboosted hit from Serperior without Stealth Rock (or come in after something has died), and OHKO back with Aerial Ace factoring in Stealth Rock and Life Orb damage.

252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Aerodactyl: 200-238 (66.4 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Aerodactyl Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Serperior: 282-332 (96.9 - 114%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Chansey switches in on Serperior and uses Toxic. Then it just spams softboiled because +6 leaf storm maxes out at 55%.
Chansey is a counter.

But taunt has been slashed on the given set. Leaf Storm on the switch and taunt after that will allow Serperior to come out on top.

Anyway, I nominate Volcarona as Check.

Volcarona @ Passho Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 96 Hp / 160 Spe
Modest Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast/Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Giga Drain/HP Ground/Roost

Basically Volcarona can survive the combination of a boosted leaf storm and any +2 move from Serperior (Dragon Pulse being the strongest here). Unboosted Fiery Dance/Fire Blast/Bug Buzz all can ohko, or Volca can just boost once and ohko the next turn. While I have given a very specific ev spread here, any Volcarona set can nicely check Serperior. You can actually invest more in bulk to avoid 2hko from +2 Dragon pulse, allowing you to roost & boost while still retain the ability to Ohko with un-boosted Fire Blast. Really, the only reason Volcarona is a check is because it's 4x weak to rocks,

252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Leaf Storm vs. 96 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 45-55 (13.4 - 16.4%) -- possible 7HKO
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Dragon Pulse vs. 96 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 161-190 (48 - 56.7%) -- 87.5% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Dragon Pulse vs. 96 HP / 0 SpD Volcarona: 81-96 (24.1 - 28.6%) -- 91% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Volcarona Fiery Dance vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Serperior: 308-366 (105.8 - 125.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Edit: Dammit, I derped again. I started off with Scarf Jirachi but that did not work out so well. Anyway, fixed now. Thanks Random Passerby

Pidgeot @ Pidgeotite
Ability: Big Pecks -> No Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Heat Wave
- U-turn
- Roost

Because Serperior is not running Glare, Pidgeot has absolutely no problem coming in -- it can take any hit after Stealth Rocks damage. It can outspeed and fire off a Hurricane for free or even Roost up or U-turn if you're predicting a switch-out. Pidgeot can't switch into a Leaf Storm before Mega Evolving, because it will fail to outspeed and go down to another +2 Leaf Storm after Stealth Rocks.

252 SpA Life Orb Serperior Dragon Pulse vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Crobat: 101-120 (27 - 32.1%) -- 66.9% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 68 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Defog
- Heat Wave

The standard physically defensive Zapdos set is able to wall Tornadus-T with no problems and force it to switch out with a U-Turn. All three of Tornadus' attacks are not very effective, while Zapdos can OHKO with Thunderbolt. Because of Tornadus' likelihood to switch into a Ground or Electric type pokemon to handle the incoming Thunderbolt, a Zapdos on low health can roost up to recover HP freely. Even with Stealth Rocks, Tornadus simply can't do much.

216 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 109-130 (28.4 - 33.9%) -- 98.9% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Sylveon can easily switch in against anything bar LO Hurricane and OHKO Tornadus-T in return with a Specs boosted Hyper Voice. With rocks, Sylveon has a little chance (< 50%) to be 2HKOd by Hurricane and the lack of recovery also means it can't switch in too often, especially with hazards on the field. Still a great check as it can switch in against any coverage move and avoiding the 2hko from Hurricane at full HP.

180 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Hurricane vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Sylveon: 156-185 (39.8 - 47.3%) -- 43.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

you can come in on anything and and ko with tbolt. SR and u-turn chips wears you down tho. Torn-t must be warry tho as it relies on poor accuracy moves and thundurus can always just paralyze it making it easy to kill

Pretty simple here, Mega Aerodactyl, even when not Mega Evolved, can switch into any move Tornadus-Therian can throw out it and can live without some extreme hax, and OHKO back with Stone Edge, outspeeding even when it's not Mega Evolved. (But don't miss Stone Edge or be sad (bolts xd))

Like in most situations, it's not wise for MegaMan to repeatedly switch into special attackers or strong physical ones (even with Intimidate due to its deceptively low defensive stats). Therefore, if it's given a safe switch-in against Tornadus-T, it outspeeds and OHKOes the genie bird (or is it the birdy genie? Hmmm... oh well) with Thunderbolt. If you absolutely have to directly switch MegaMan into it, you'll have to know that only Focus Blast, which isn't even guaranteed on the set, is the only move that 2HKOes without SR (Hurricane needs SR to do so). So, you can switch once or even twice into Tornadus-T if you want, but do be careful. One last thing before the calcs: MegaMan doesn't care being Taunted; it keeps its cool like the awesome electric dog that it is.

Just a reminder to some people posting sets here: counters refer to manually switching in (hard switching), while checks only come in freely without taking damage from the opposing pokemon immediately after (such as coming in from a slow U-Turn or a faint).

I usually see people posting checks while calling them counters and vice versa, and not properly understanding the term even when they refer to it within their post.

Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb / Thunderbolt
- Earthquake / Muddy Water

Goodra can come in on any of Tornadus' moves (except Superpower, and even then, the attack drop prevents it from being a 2HKO) and take it out with Thunderbolt or Draco Meteor.

However, if rocks aren't up, these moves do not 1HKO, allowing Tornadus to U-Turn out. Even if rocks are up, there's nothing stopping it from pivoting out immediately.

Offensive:
252+ SpA Goodra Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 253-298 (84.6 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Goodra Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 142-168 (47.4 - 56.1%) -- 82.4% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Goodra Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 117-138 (39.1 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Goodra Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 234-276 (78.2 - 92.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Goodra Muddy Water vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 117-138 (39.1 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Defensive:
180 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Hurricane vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Goodra: 94-110 (24.6 - 28.8%) -- 99.8% chance to 4HKO
76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T Superpower vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Goodra: 162-192 (42.5 - 50.3%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO
76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T U-turn vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Goodra: 95-113 (24.9 - 29.6%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO
180 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Focus Blast vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Goodra: 68-81 (17.8 - 21.2%) -- possible 5HKO

0 SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 284-336 (94.9 - 112.3%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO (discharge has a 100% chance to KO, given that Torn-T is still Naive and not Hasty)

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Assault Vest Raikou is a solid glue on offensive teams thanks to its ability to blanket check opposing electrics and specially biased flying types, along with quite a few more examples. Tornadus-Therian can put a dent in it with Superpower - but such is a suicidal action as Volt Switch will have a chance to OHKO after LO recoil, and Thunderbolt definitely will. Raikou can check Torn-T twice as it U-turns out before it's put into KO range for Superpower, although it can switch in and force it out in a pinch - but it's not much of a counter.

76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raikou: 90-107 (28 - 33.3%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO
76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Raikou: 155-182 (48.2 - 56.6%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO (Not true as the drop happens)

252 SpA Raikou Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 254-302 (84.9 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Raikou Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Tornadus-T: 330-390 (110.3 - 130.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

That's not how it works here, read the definitions of check and counter in the op.

Basically they have been altered in this thread so we don't have people nomming silly things such as garchomp as a kyu-b check. Check is a Mon which can win either 100% of the time once or relies on rolls/hazards being up it down etc to win. While a counter is a Mon they can continually come in multiple times without being worn done to the point where it can be overcome.

Lots of people seem to get the definitions of checks and counters IN THIS THREAD mixed up, make sure to read the op to get the definitions :),

Mega Diancie as a check.

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 16 Atk / 240 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Moonblast
- Protect

Pretty simple really. Mega Diancie is a really good check to Tornadus-T, owing to its typing, which allows it to switch into all of Tornadus-T's moves with ease. Hurricane is resisted, and Superpower fails to 2HKO. Mega Diancie is immune to Taunt and resists U-turn as well. The only thing that 2HKOes Mega Diancie is Focus Blast, but the probability of hitting two consecutive Focus Blasts is only 49%. In turn, Mega Diancie OHKOes with Diamond Storm.

180 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Diancie: 100-118 (41.4 - 48.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 32-39 (13.2 - 16.1%) -- possible 7HKO
180 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Diancie: 147-173 (60.9 - 71.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 112-133 (46.4 - 55.1%) -- 61.3% chance to 2HKO
-1 76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 74-88 (30.7 - 36.5%) -- 62.8% chance to 3HKO
16 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tornadus-T: 396-468 (132.4 - 156.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
